  • *****GERMAN VERSION: • LiFePo4 statt Bleibatt... *****
Many advantages of LiFePo4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries motivate to change in sail boats and camper vans.
Higher acquisition costs are compensated by a much higher live time due to cycling stability.
This pays of - if you do not need to change to new and expensive charging equipment... Do you have to? Or just "drop In", as some manufacturers advertise?
We'll take a look at that today! How can we switch to LiFePo4 inexpensively, but still charge and operate the battery properly?!

Thanks for your very interesting video. My current setup is one engine, one house and one battery for windless. My winter project was to look at replacing all with lifepo4 batteries... But your solution is sounding much better! 👍

I also had three lead-acid batteries before. It saved a lot of space and also some equipment/cables to reduce it to one starter and one 'common' battery, which is the Lithium.
If you want to change your starter battery to LiFePo4, you need to take a close look if the maximum current is high enough. E.g. my max current it 150A (only for a short time, 120A continously). I think you can save money by keeping lead-acid for the engine, using LiFePo4 for all other tasks.

@@Sir-Real you made alot sense in your video! 👍 I bought a new lead acid battery last year for the 'house' battery so you've convinced me to use that for the engine and add one lifepo4 for the 'house'. Before your lifepo4 conversion did you use your 3rd battery for a windless or have 2 'house' batteries?

@@paulfox1756 the third battery was used for my fridge only. So 'house', starter and fridge battery.
      (I own only manual windlass/winches. )
