They have to show the perspective of Miles and Waylon. Exactly like in the game. So they are parallel in the asylum but they never meet each other. If the right people work on this, then this could be a great movie. They have to involve people into who developed the game and played it.

Outlast should definitely be found footage for some great reasons 1. It can show was what Miles canonically recorded 2. They can market it as “real footage” just like The Blaire Witch Project 3. Found footage doesn’t need to be lazy 4. Easier to fit into the game canon

I'd like to add that the way the Outlast games are set up makes them perfect for a movie adaptation; I think the only thing that would hold the movie back is Lionsgate, because those AAA studios think they know best and make terrible content
I only hope the movie has a detective feel to it kinda how it is in Se7en while mantaining a psychological thriller with some levels of gore. I just hope that we get at least one sequence of where it switches to a POV of a camcorder during the third act since I don't want it to be a full found footage movie either. No to mention that the sound design, the music and the photography has to be just if not better than it is in the original game. Overall I am really happy that it's truly happening and I hope Red Barrels can be involved during the production of it.
I don’t want this to be an adaptation of the stories previously told in the games. I feel like this is the perfect opportunity to further expand the lore of outlast by having it be set in the same continuity as the games. New cast, new setting, and story that connects it to the games. I’m going to go see this movie no matter what cause it’s outlast and I love outlast but that’s my opinion on the movie, don’t know if I’m alone in thinking that but that’s what I think
I think the movie should focus more on the lore like the murkoff account comics and the history of project walruses and maybe delve into some of the CIA ties stuff with the trials. Like mk ultra type ish
The monster from the movie *BARBARIAN* looks a lot like some of the grunts (Ex-Pop) in *The Outlast Trials* Could get some inspiration from that makeup and design for some characters in the movie

I was gonna do an Outlast movie of my own, it was gonna be a faithful adaptation of the first Outlast game but I cancelled my version of an Outlast movie due to the announcement of Red Barrels & Lionsgate doing an Outlast movie of there own
They could do loads of things with this film even base it off the trials with ameilia who broke out of base it off mount massive but we different characters like people exploring the “abandoned asylum” or like a found footage type film similar to quarantine
