Gorgeous boat and in great shape too. Thanks for the tour. I could look at these tours all day and even though I know exactly what to expect I'll watch it again and again anyway.
I don't sail nor have I ever owned a sailboat but I am addicted to sailing blogs. I first saw a Hans Christain on the Sailing SV Prism blog/youtube channel and I fell in love with them. The layout is so big for a small boat and very comfy looking. Thanks for the tour.
I was lucky enough to meet Jon and Shannon. Had them over on my boat, and then had the privilege to visit Prism with them! Great couple and their boat is the benchmark for these things.
Same with me. I read “Dove” back in 1972 and have totally fascinated with sailing and water based adventure ever since . “On the Water” is also a great book.
Exactly. I've never seen another 30ish foot boat that has made such good use of space. A lot have oversized settee like you're going to be hosting a party of 8 each night. This one is nice and cozy but I really love that they have a cozy and private second berth and a bathroom with a stand up shower. My favorite boat.
Ted if you look up SV prism on RUclips you will find that Jon (the owner) is 6’-4”/5” and he absolutely loves his HC 33. They cruise and live on the boat and they love it!! 👍🏻 So do we!!
They really did a great job with these little boats. Easily the most comfortable layout of any sub-35' boat that I've been aboard. Very livable. The head compartment with a separate, tiled shower stall is really the icing on the cake.
Thanks! I have 165W of solar on a mast above the transom (at 0:43). It's sufficient enough to offset my fridge/freezer. I'll probably increase that at some point. I can't justify the expense or high maintenance of a watermaker at this time because I'm not cruising, and even when I do it's in areas where I can pretty easily get water.
That’s a beautiful Hans Christian. I’m seriously thinking about retiring and buying one for a cruising live aboard. What is the market on one of these 33’s and do you still have this one? Any advise of what to look for and are there any known issues with them?
Thank you, I do still have this boat. Not sure what current values on these boats are, but it's a sellers' market for sure. Lots to look for in these boats. Blisters, encapsulated chainplates, teak decking issues, 30+ year-old wooden bowsprits, etc., etc. Always a work in progress, but they are great boats. I hope to keep this one for many years to come.
She’s a beaut!! I really like the Halberg-Rasy like enclosure around the turtle. Looks great! Same with the interior, looks beautiful. Question, how comfy are your cushions! I’ve always liked that type of cushion, just wondering if it’s comfy. Ours need to be updated 👍🏻
Yeah, it's not the most comfortable of arrangements when at sea, but it's better on some points of sail than it is on others. Like most other things on a boat, it's a trade-off.
@@lowcountrydawg2525 I have the same on a Caliber 38 works fine, the mid ship head was converted to a tool locker and freezer compartment. for a crew of 2 this arrangement works fine
Thank you. A small company in Croatia bought the hull molds for the 33 and will actually build you a new one to suit: www.hans-christian-yachts.eu/33.html. I don't have any information about build quality or cost, though.
Standing headroom is about 6'2" on the centerline in the salon, but less elsewhere. I believe that the bunk in the aft cabin is longer than 6'4, and the pullman berth is right about 6'4".
I love the layout of this boat. It's one of the few designs that really does something different and gets a very complete boat out of 33 ft.
Agreed
Congratulations. Your boat is the Most beautiful in the world. It‘s my dream. All the best for you and your boat.
Beautiful boat. I love the layout and the berth/nook in the front is my favorite, very cozy and reminds me of Norwegian and Swedish cabinet beds.
Lived on hull 100 or was it 101 1985 to 1994 in Sausalito CA. What a great boat. Sold it around 2002. Miss it terribly.
A lovely boat Charles!
Just saw this on Reddit, definitely a damn good looking boat.
Thanks, I love the boat and work hard to keep her up.
Gorgeous boat and in great shape too. Thanks for the tour. I could look at these tours all day and even though I know exactly what to expect I'll watch it again and again anyway.
Thank you, Scott. Im the same way.
Reddit brought me here brother, nice boat!

Very ingenious design for a 33ft sailboat, not a cubic inch wasted
These HC's are yachting art in its finest...
Beautiful !
This has to be the very best layout of any 33ft boat. Somehow they've got EVERYTHING in it and there's still bags of room,

Spectacular boat 👏🏻👏🏻🥂
hi Bro really impressive, congrats for this beauty
Awesome!
I like this. I'd say it could be a one person liveaboard. Which is lucky, because I counted me and there's one.
What a great layout!

Beauty!
Very nice boat
Beautiful boat.
You have yourself a great HC 33!!
Thanks, we love her. Always a work in progress.
Wow Beautiful, Best sailboats ever made for my money.
Great boat! Fair winds!
beautiful.... fair winds!
I really love this boat.
gorgeous boat
Nice! What about laundry?
Gorgeous
She is a sheer Beauty!
best one or two person world cruiser there is ...
She's a beauty!
Absolutely lovely.
How long is the boat ride on that thing from the US to the Bahammas?
shipshape cap!
Gorgeous )
Beautiful interior! How long/short are the beds if I may ask?
Probably 6'4" or so, maybe a little more in the aft bunk.
Beautiful boat! Any thoughts on installing Solar or a Water maker?
Thanks! I have 165W of solar on a mast above the transom (at 0:43). It's sufficient enough to offset my fridge/freezer. I'll probably increase that at some point. @@lowcountrydawg2525 Ok, thanks!
Nice boat, bet she likes a nice strong wind to sail in!
Thanks, Ken! She might surprise you a bit. She moves ok in 10-12kts, but really gets up and goes with 15kts. i.imgur.com/2uTCU1q.jpg

Can the oven be opened all the way? What if you want a frozen pizza?
what are they priced at . great boats.

Yep, pretty comfy. As far as I know, it's the original upholstery and foam.
Question, with the head in the bow, guessing it can be difficult to use in a seaway?
Yeah, it's not the most comfortable of arrangements when at sea, but it's better on some points of sail than it is on others. Like most other things on a boat, it's a trade-off.

Fantastic boat, shame they don't do boats like that anymore.

@@lowcountrydawg2525 Fantastic, thank you! 🙏
Beautiful! Question: Are the HC33's suitable for tall folks (6'4"?) mostly interested in headroom and the length of the two double births. Thanks!

Beautiful design whose time is long gone for the money and maintenance.
I have a 1987 #64 enjoy..
And…. she's gorgeous. Call me when you're ready to sell her.
Gorgeous!
