Breaking Down Music: Pitch, intensity, and Timbre

This video is the concluding part of the topic on musical elements. Therefore, it contains a description of such elements of music as the texture, timbre, form, lyrics, pitch, intensity, and dynamics.
In addition, this tutorial video will teach you how to understand the aforementioned elements of music. For instance, texture is the extent to which melody and rhythm are combined in a piece of music. It is the layer of sounds in a piece of music. The texture of a piece of music can be thick or light. The kinds of textures include; monophonic texture, homophonic texture and polyphonic texture.
Timbre or tone color, is the sound quality produced by a particular instrument or voice. This is the feature that makes a particular musical instrument sound different from another, even at the same pitch and intensity. For example, the difference between a guitar and a piano playing the same note at the same loudness is called timbre. This sound quality is determined by the shape of the vibrating body, its material (metal, wood, human tissue, and the method used to put it in motion (striking, bowing, blowing, plucking).
Form or structure is the overall plan, structure or design of a piece of music. The types of forms include; sectional forms (binary, ternary, rondo, and strophic forms), variation (theme and variation and fugue) sonata form and free forms (through-composed and prelude).
Lyrics is an aspect of vocal music which features verbal expression. The lyric or words of a song is an integral part of popular music. A non musician often connects better to any music with lyrics. Perhaps this explains why there is high patronage for popular music, which mostly has vocal music rather than instrumental music.
Pitch is how high or how low a musical note is heard while intensity or volume, explains how loud or soft a musical sound is heard.
Dynamics is a technique that caters for the changes that occur in a piece of music. In a piece of music, changes or dynamics can be done to its intensity, speed, or performance style. Therefore, we can play a piece of music loud or soft, fast or slow, strictly or expressively.
