    I'm going to be showing you guys how to do a face block technique in Taekwondo sparring. Now a lot of the times when we are doing the face block technique in forms, Taekwondo forms, we sometimes block like this and like that. But in Taekwondo Olympic style sparring, we are just going to actually block like we are raising our hand but in an angle like this and like that.
    So, one, if my opponent throws a roundhouse kick to the face, I'm going to block like this. So one more time. One, bang. But there is a little tip here. If I just stand still and block, from where I am, he throws a kick and I might get hurt. His kick might be pretty strong. So he throws a kick, bang, and a lot of people get hurt like that. One of the secrets are, sliding in for a clinch while you're doing that. So he throws a face kick, boom. I go in this way. I like to cut him off that way. Either you slide out, but if you don't have the time, you might have to go in. So again, one, boom, this way.
    If he uses the other leg I might have to block with this hand. He might do a switch and throw a roundhouse kick. I go in this way. So one more time. Boom, this way. Now, same thing with the ax kick. I'm very close here and if I don't do anything, he's going to throw his crescent ax kick on my face. So I need to raise my hand up. So he comes in and block the ax kick like that. He switches the stance, I'm here, bang, and I go for the block. One more time. Bang, this way. One more time. Bang, this way.
    Again, If you clinch close enough, you might not even have to do the face block. Last one. So he goes for another kick and I just slide in, boom, and I just cut him off, and that's the best way to defense against a face block. But if you don't have the time, you just want to go in and throw your hand up like this. And that's how you do a face block technique in Taekwondo sparring.

    its true that while in sparring speed is escential for a block or a parryblock technique is really important, the technique of the block gives it strengh and balance, you can cut the motion or do the one handed motion but you should really use the back muscles, and do the motion from a center position so it can actually block or parry a strongh kick

    Good blocking technique. I've been looking for a way to block kicks myself. I'm curious though, is there a chance an opponent's knee will hit the armpit? I'm a bit afraid of that. Thanks

      @supremecud147 4 года назад

      his knees to far to go into ur armpit, so dont worry bout it too much. it wont hurt anyways if the knee is that close, since it doesnt have enough power to swing.

    "I like to slide in." Love it.
    I think it can work but you might as well say attack quicker. Kung Fu seems better at defending.

      The idea is to either go all the way out of range, or all the way in... so you are also OUT of kicking range (too close for high kicks to work). If you go in fast enough and dont need the block, you might instead punch (not on tkd sparring cause punches to the face are forbidden there). On any case, you always want to move to take power off the strike, and to block just in case moving isnt enough. That goes against 99% strikes, not just kicks. And kung fu is wonderful as well, at the end of the day the best martial art is the one that works better for you. You may as well take elements from different martial arts, lets say, the striking of tkd and the grappling of hapkido, or whatever works for you. Anyway, I personally prefer to block with the forearm than the inner part of the arm. Happy training, happy Christmas!! : )

    im new to Tae Kwon Doe and i created a move. here is how to do it.
    1. twist their arms
    2. put ur leg sideways their legs
    3. hit the top arm on the bottom
    4. lift the leg up and push the arms down
    5. go behind them and kick the backs of their knees

    There is definitely taekwondo in Algeria, you can even find Algerian taekwondo videos right here on youtube, Also try google searching for schools. If you contact and tell an instructor your story you might even get to try some free or discounted lessons. You never know until you try - good luck!

    I see what you mean, but I think the person throwing the kick would probably be off balance or there wouldn't be any room. If you see again them two are so close so the opponent can be clinched

    if hes throwing a kick to the head theres room for the kick to the ribs. plus balance depends on the martial artist. ive seen a three roundhouse in one motion. all im really saying is creating an opening to teach to begining is a bad pratice
