84, 85 and 86 seemed to last forever. Good memories

Loved Vin and Joe and all their pre-game stats and stories.

Gooden serves up a 2 run homer to the inferior Brock? Wow, rare in that epic season. In 391 plate appearances with men on against him, Dr K only allowed 2 homers all year. Insane. Thanks bro! Every gooden add, and Fernando, priceless!

Pedro Guerrero, who Scully mentions is struggling offensively, went on to hit a record 15 home runs in June (the following month).
Strange seeing a mid 80's Mets game without Strawberry and no mention of him.

Strawberry tore a ligament in his thumb on 5/11 and didn't come back until 6/28

Younger fans don’t quite understand just how dominant Gooden was in 1985.

Through uploads of his games to this channel, we hope they'll discover Gooden's dominance on their own and appreciate it, too.

He was 6-3 after this game... he went 18-1 the rest of the way.

That opening about the 1955 Dodgers was beautiful.

It's odd to realize that the 1955 Dodgers were as distant to TV watchers in 1985 as the Joe Carter walk-off home run 1993 Blue Jays are to now, as of this writing. Black and white film really does make things seem so much older.

The HR by Brock was off a fastball, not a curve ball, Joe. I still love you though

Think it was a changeup. For some reason I remember Hernandez being upset he got beat on a pitch he hardly ever threw.

Just an observation but for two guys who couldn't stand each other it always seems when Vin and Joe did their stand ups before the game they were ALWAYS within inches of each other and all into each others' faces like they were going to kiss!
It's the weirdest thing ever. One has to hope neither of em had bad breath. I will probably sit back in a chair and watch this one tonight.

I never knew that they didn't get along. It's disappointing to hear that.. they faked it well though

Joe G. Was alot more comfortable with Tony Kubek. Sense or humor came out better
Scully was the maestro who needed no one or some lesser flunkey
