In an interview, series creator and executive producer, Kurt Sutter, explained that the decision to kill Hale in the season premiere was motivated by Sheridan's desire to move on to another project.
Yeah, that's pretty much it. Tyler Sheridan had other things going on at the time (I think it was a leading role in his own series) and there was no way he could film both the new show and SoA at the same time. That's happened a few times.

Nick Saikley he also wrote and directed Wind River. On the one hand I’m sad he left the show, but I’m also glad he did because we’ve gotten some decent films out of it 👍🏻

I love that song playing at the end, “Dad’s Gonna Kill Me”. While the use of the word “Dad” is a reference to Baghdad, it fits the episodes themes. There are in fact a bunch of Dads willing to kill to get what they want.

Man, your reaction vids for SoA are the highlight of my day when they pop up. I loved this show when it originally aired, and that's only grown over the years since it ended. We had the exact same reaction when Hale died. This season is a bit of a slow burn but man oh man will it pay off in the end.

I believe that Taylor Sheridan just wanted to move on. He has an awesome writing career and is become a solid director. That’s the side of the camera he wants to be on. He wrote Sicario and Hell or High Water. He also wrote and directed Wind River. Now I believe he is doing Yellowstone.

Kurt sutter the director and aka Otto is a very Shakespearean director also he was 1 on the first to really bring a series where u had no idea who was gonna drop next if u think thing are crazy now believe me shits about to go in overdrive as you progress thru the show .

From what I understand, Taylor Sheridan (the actor that played David Hale aka Captain America lol) had a kid and didn't want to raise his kid in LA so he wanted to quit acting and he moved his family to Wyoming. But I'm not 100% sure if he decided to quit and SOA wrote him off, or if SOA wrote him off and then he decided to quit.

I just looked this up on google and it says the Kurt Sutter had to write Hale out because the actor Taylor Sheridan was not happy being on the show. I was shocked when I first saw it too.

I'm currently watching these reactions as this is one of my favorite shows. I know it's a bit late to the party, but in the scene where Gemma is looking at the newspaper, the tv in the background shows a news report about a plane crash. At the end of season 2, Zobel was last seen getting a charter plane ticket.

Yeah it sucks that Hale dies but he went out doing his job and guns blazing. Also as much as I agree that they needed to pull Jax off the shooter come on after all he's been through lately he needed something to let out his emotions, plus them leaving a funeral and a kid getting shot...yeah no wonder he lost it. Side note nice they gave half sack his full patch after he dies and if you look close enough it's not just the club that's attending but a good number of soldiers

Yeah much as difficult as Hale was you at least know where he stands Unser trusted him to make the right choices for Charming and its people where he couldn’t and in a weird way I will miss him. Clay actually showed he had a heart he made mistakes and his pride makes it near impossible for him to admit when he was wrong but his moments with Jax and Tara were sweet.

I think the loss of the boat that the black guys bought from Cameron is a loss they have to write off for not doing due diligence. Like, they bought the boat and facilitated his escape with the baby, so they lose the boat. The primary transaction was probably the AK-47s he sold them, anyway. Legally, they aren't going to be making a thing about the boat, since they got under shady circumstances, and in the ethics of the underworld, they did business with a guy who crossed a local gang, in a way that everyone is supposed to respect (ie leave family members alone). Note that it was Leroy, the leader of the black criminal element, who gave the Sons the tip on the boat in the first place, sending them to a black neighborhood with implicit carte blanche to kiss ass there. That's a little neighborhood crew, that needs an ally like Leroy to go after a next-level player like the Sons, and Leroy has basically picked his side in this conflict.
These next 12 weeks are gonna be great!

Myans didn't have any current motive to strike at SAMCRO. IRA don't want to kill anyone they want to use Abel as leverage. Agent Stahl has too much to lose and that is not her style. So it has to be blowback from the white supremacist group for Elliot's death probably Zobelles one last favor. The other possible request could have come from the future potential Mayor as his way of making noise and pinning SAMCRO as a bad and dangerous group. He never wanted SAMCRO to stay and this was the perfect time to strike when they were most vulnerable.
