      @thizz707gr 11 дней назад +5

      @Eddieshred first, you said trauma. Now you're saying psychologically hurt.. now you're backtracking?
      I only asked a simple question. I didn't say Isaac was or wasn't traumatized. Calm down lol
      Isaac may have been traumatized, but he also may have been understanding and trusting of what God had commanded to his father. That could be the reason God chose to do this with Isaac in the first place 🤷‍♂️
      Either way, God's plan is perfect, and the story of Abraham and Isaac has reached and taught many people to trust the Lord no matter what things may look like. You are only looking at the small picture

      @@thizz707gr Listen to yourself again. So if it wouldn't technically be diagnosed as a trauma, which it would be in the majority, if not all instances, it's okay? Yeah you probably think child abbuse is to be taken lightly but I don't. It's not funny to me.

      Here is how to prevent Bubonic Plague.
      (Bubonic Plague outbreaks are controlled by pest control and modern sanitation techniques.)
      In the years 1347 to 1351, 1/3rd of the population of Europe died to the Bubonic Plague.
      Parents would have been praying to Jesus of Christianity to protect themselves and their family from harm and children would have prayed to Jesus of Christianity to protect their parents from harm. Did Jesus tell them how to prevent the Bubonic Plague from killing people, when they were praying on how to protect themselves from harm? 1/3rd of the population died. The reason we don't usually have Bubonic Plague around is because of the modern sanitation and pest control. Was that to much for Jesus to explain to the Christians in Europe?

      So what did the people of Europe need in the years 1347 to 1351? Did Europe need a Supernatural Superhero? Or did Europe need a Naturalism Hero with knowledge of Nature?

      Most people of any age of humanity can write stories of Gods that can do miracles. The harder part is for people to be able to examine Nature successfully.

      The Age of Enlightenment writers wrote about ancient Story Gods for the altar and for the throne, rule from both Religion and Government. That is why Age of Enlightenment Philosophers, directed us humans to Nature's God and not human created Story Gods. Thus Thomas Jefferson's "Laws of Nature and of Nature's God." Jesus of Christianity is never a Nature's God.

    • @ronaldlindeman6136
      @ronaldlindeman6136 10 дней назад

      The problem of Evil. Jesus of Christianity knew about how to prevent illnesses and diseased naturally, but chose not to tell humans because Jesus of Christianity is a special type of being.

      From Google AI;
      The argument that Jesus is not God because he lacked scientific knowledge is a common viewpoint among non-believers, but it is based on a misunderstanding of the concept of divinity within Christianity; most Christians believe that Jesus, as God incarnate, chose to live as a human with the limitations of that time, including limited scientific understanding, while still possessing divine knowledge beyond human comprehension.
      Key points to consider:
      Nature of God:
      In Christianity, God is not defined by scientific knowledge but by attributes like omnipotence, omniscience, and love.
      Incarnation:
      Christians believe Jesus was "fully God and fully man," meaning he took on human limitations while still being divine.
      Purpose of Jesus' life:
      The focus is on Jesus' teachings, actions, and sacrifice on the cross, not necessarily his scientific knowledge.
      ------------------------end Google AI
      So faith in Jesus of Christianity is a special type of faith. A being that is completely moral and ethical, even though the Jesus being doesn't help humans in ways that the Christian God being can.

      I don't believe there is a problem with wanting to know why God does what he does. There is a difference between questioning gods authority, and Seeking out his nature. God is not an irrational God. Generally speaking, there is typically a reason for why he does the things that he does. Proverbs 25:2 says it is the glory of God to conceal a matter, and it is the glory of kings to seek out a matter. The more we seek the nature of God and why he does what he does the better understanding we gain of his nature. I believe the problem comes when we get so consumed of wanting to know his reasons, that we were require it in order to believe

      @@Eddieshred after warning people for hundreds of years judgement will come eventually. A good father doesnt spoil their child or watches in ignorance as they kick, mock and kill other people. That son is going to jail, going to be put on trial, going to be taught a harsh lesson. A good father punishes and corrects when needed. The earth was horrific at the time. People are mad at God when he doesn't immediately take care of evil, yet when He does- God is evil? The double standard is baffling. God cant even kill, he just sends you to the next part of life. Without God children die for no reason, into emptyness never having a chance to have lived. With God they immediately live in eternity with Him, the source of all that is good. God is good, all the time. Not because he does Good but because he Is Good. We reject God so many times, we mock Him, choose false idols like money, pleasure, a pop star and worship them instead. When praying to them does nothing, they never protected you, blessed you, loved you with unconditional love. God can do whatever he wants like we got no reason to be still alive rn. Yet His mercy is so great we live, it rains on everybody, criminals and the commoner. Morality as a whole comes from God, without a God nothing is evil it's all relative. Survival of the fittest only the strong is correct. Yet we have a burning sense of justice. Thats Gods law written on your heart.

      @billybob-ro6qf Yeah, that makes sense, but I just started passively rekindling my faith about a year ago (and a lot of that is thanks to Dr. Turek and Cliffe Knechtle). I just started committing to reading the Bible regularly this weekend. This is after about 10 years of simply believing, but being dead spiritually (extreme apathy and juggling what I believed - bad combo). When I did try to dive into the Old Testament, I was young (like high school and younger - so another 10+ years). I remember the stories, but it'll be interesting to see them through the lens of nearly a middle-aged man.

      But if we don't understand why he does the things he does then we can't have a relationship with him and can't truly love him. It would be the same as a parent that punishes their children but never explains why they are punishing them leaving the child wondering it his parents are evil and just punishing them for no reason or for no good reason.
      Many atheist do not understand the God of the bible in why he does what he does so they can't have a relationship with him. When they hear about slavery or killing massive amounts of people in the bible they are left wondering why god let or commanded these things to happen and are left with no good answers.
      Many people go through the motions of getting saved and go to church every sunday but the only reason they got saved was from fear of hell and nothing else. They never truly loved God for who he is because they read the bible but never understand why he does the things he does.

      Here's the thing: if you're saying "God is good all the time," you've got to square that with the Bible itself. In Genesis 6:7, God says He'll wipe out all humans and animals because He regrets making them-literally drowning the world, including children and animals, because He's mad. That doesn't scream "all-good."
      Then there's stuff like 2 Kings 2:23-24, where God sends bears to kill 42 children for mocking a prophet. Or Exodus 12:29, where He kills every firstborn in Egypt, including babies. These aren't cherry-picked-they're just uncomfortable truths.
      If God's all-powerful, He could've chosen better ways to handle these situations. If He's all-good, He wouldn't need to resort to mass murder to make a point. You can't just wave this stuff away by calling it "out of context." The Bible's full of examples like these, and they don't match the idea of a loving, benevolent deity.

I feel like that's the same exact logic people have with God. , That we don't have freewill because choices have consequences. Some people just don't like accountability, because that's basically saying it's not "fair" that your choices will have an outcome which doesn't make much sense. Well, if I recall correctly, part of the definition for God, as I recall, is the being of maximal goodness. So, in essence, by definition, God is good, and then we should add if the God of the Bible is that God we're looking for.
    As for the answer from the perspective of getting to know Him, we first need to check to see what the definition of good is. Are we using someone's personal definition, or are we using an objective definition? The problem today is that many people don't have a real definition outside of their personal ones for each situation. So I'd first ask them what they mean by good and maybe have a discussion first about the meaning before advancing. Which is also not something that probably should be done in a comment's section.

      maybe we can try to have something or other in the comments section--
      So let's say (hypothetically) I agree that there is Good that exists in the world as a fact on it's own. I can look at a flower and know it is yellow because I see it, and I can look at something evil and know it is Bad because I see it, and Goodness and Badness are just things that exist in the world.
      Is there a reason I would need a god to ground it? If Good exists, maybe we can say either it has a grounding in God who has no grounding, or Good exists with no grounding. Is there a reason one makes more sense than the other?

      I think I know what you're saying, people have their own definition of what it means to be "good" and it's usually something along the lines of ..well I'm not a murderer and I try to be nice to people so I'm technically "good", I noticed most people will say that they are in fact "good people", but usually based on humanly standards. If we measured it using God's morals then it will be a very humbling answer instead.

    I think this is a popular question because people have a different definition of what good means, good means something different in wordly standards. "How can God be good if people suffer?", There also seems to be this misunderstanding that because us believers have faith that we have a hundred percent blind belief in Christ and that we don't think about life or question anything ever when a lot of believers have very conplex testimonies and backgrounds of how they got here.
    Maybe instead of looking at the worlds standards of "good" , we look at God's then try to determine why or how he's always good even when we aren't.
    People seem to not want accountability for the fact that most things in life, the trouble we have on earth, is in some shape or form is people's fault because humans are sinful. They're not gonna praise Jesus when good things happen but they're surely gonna blame a God they (claim they dont) believe in for every bad thing that occurs.

      @@somerandom3247 The Bible does answer your question , the whole book of Genesis alone can tell you why bad things happen or why he "allows" it. I did just briefly mention the common logic people have of "how is he good if bad things happen?", but that's a broad question because there's many reasons why bad things happen (besides mentioning cancer) The majority of the bad things that go on are the doing of people, but instead the blame goes straight to God.
      Part of the reason for that is because most people think they are good with decent morals, If we think about the worldly definition of good , the standards aren't that high.
      Most think they're not that bad, which is why "sin" and conviction is a hard concept for people. when you ask about the "bad" things in scripture that God allows, let's look at the context here. Anyone in general can show a small part of a random scripture without the backstory, then say "he's cruel bc this happened", but said people usually didn't study the context of what was happening/ why. I highly encourage others to not just read it but study it with an open mind and not preconceived feelings involved. There's not a story of him doing something "mean" for absolutely no deserved reason. To understand the spiritual meaning of "good" you have to start by understanding what sin is and why it's a bigger deal than we think.
      Biblically even historically , The only ones being absolutely terrible with no good reason are humans. God is still good, people just aren't. You also would have to look at it through a spiritual lens, if you believe this life is the only one we're gonna experience then it's easier to get mad at life because we can't grasp the concept of there actually being a bigger picture.

      2) Don't realize that each human has the free will for an ever-changing degree of opened heart and a level of spiritual purity

With the new covenant, anyone that truly wants to have a genuine and growing eternal relationship with God can get baptized to create the Holy Spirit empowered spiritual connection to God the Father through Jesus.
      Frank should have brought up how countless times, prior to the established new covenant (Jesus atoning for all human sin thus no more punishment from God...until after the rapture of course), God punished via destroying humans and gave direction to the Israelites to punish via destroying humans (Israelites and non-Israelites) and why. He should have also brought up why God punished and wouldn't allow Moses into the promised land and why...and where Moses is right now. Where Moses is right now shows that God's punishment is just (e.g. best for all of existence including the humans punished).

    • @mlwilliams4407
      @mlwilliams4407 9 дней назад

      @@vladtheemailer3223 Sure!
      1. God’s nature (that's flows from Him to existence) is the standard of goodness...specifically God’s essence (eternally righteous, loving, holy, and just) defines the standard of good.
      2. We see God’s goodness reflected in His actions documented throughout Scripture:
      Creation: God made the universe in harmony and beauty, declaring it "very good" (Genesis 1:31).
      Provision: He provides for all His creation (Matthew 6:26).
      Redemption: The ultimate expression of His goodness is Jesus Christ’s sacrifice to reconcile humanity to Himself, showing the depth of divine love (Romans 5:8).
      3. Your question also touches on situations where God punished or judged people in Scripture, which can seem at odds with His goodness. Here’s why punishment aligns with God’s just and holy nature:
      Justice and Holiness: God's goodness includes justice; evil cannot go unchecked. The punishment of sin reveals His commitment to righteousness (Romans 3:25-26).
      Redemptive Purpose: Even in judgment, God often worked to guide humanity back to Him. For example, His discipline of Israel aimed to purify them (Hebrews 12:6-11).
      Eternal Perspective: Moses was disciplined by God and barred from entering the Promised Land (Numbers 20:12). However, Moses remains in eternal fellowship with God (Luke 9:30-31). God’s actions reflect an eternal justice that transcends human immediate circumstances.
      4. Why do humans question God’s goodness?
      Finite Understanding: Human perspective is limited by time and context, while God’s actions are grounded in His eternal purpose (Isaiah 55:8-9).
      Different Priorities: Often, humans focus on temporary physical well-being, while God is ultimately concerned with eternal restoration and relationship (2 Peter 3:9).
      5. Moral standards are meaningful because they are grounded in God’s unchanging nature. If there’s no ultimate, eternal standard (like God), morality becomes subjective and situational. To say something is "good" or "evil" presupposes a reference point outside of individual or cultural preference.
      Hope this helps!

    • @mlwilliams4407
      @mlwilliams4407 9 дней назад

      @@Eddieshred 1. You mentioned that it’s logical to prioritize human physical existence due to evolutionary survival instincts and a lack of evidence for an afterlife. Let’s unpack this:
      - Survival instincts, driven by evolution, do help humans prioritize immediate needs. But humans also uniquely ponder existential questions...meaning, purpose, and life after death. This ability shows humans are wired for more than survival; humans are spiritual beings seeking ultimate answers.
      - While evidence for an afterlife isn’t as measurable as physical phenomena, there are compelling philosophical arguments (e.g., the desire for justice, near-death experiences, and the universal search for transcendence). Christianity’s historical foundation, particularly the resurrection of Jesus, is an evidential event pointing to eternal life (1 Corinthians 15:12-19).
      - If eternal existence is true (which it is), then focusing solely on human physical life is akin to prioritizing a fleeting moment over lasting significance. It’s worth becoming aware of how eternal truths redefine and expand what’s logical.
      2. You stated, "There’s no free will," likely referring to debates in neuroscience and philosophy. Here are a few points to consider:
      - While neuroscience shows that unconscious processes influence decisions, this doesn’t negate free will. Free will doesn’t imply absolute independence from influences but the human ability to deliberate, reason, and act meaningfully.
      - Free will is a gift that allows humans to choose love, goodness, and relationship with God. Love that is coerced isn’t genuine. If free will didn’t exist, moral responsibility and justice lose coherence...yet humans live as if accountability is real.
      - Hard determinism undercuts itself. If every thought is determined, including the idea "there’s no free will," why should humans trust that conclusion? Free will, while logically mysterious to humans that are currently only truly interested in a subset of a subset of a subset of existence, aligns with both human experience and God’s design.
      3. Your current perspective that Adam and Eve didn’t exist and Genesis is mythical is shared by many humans.
      - True Christians are capable to be aware that Genesis is a literal account. Many humans view it as a theological narrative revealing truths about humanity’s relationship with God, moral agency, and sin.
      - Even if interpreted symbolically, Adam and Eve encapsulate human origins, moral awakening, and the universal need for redemption...truths that remain relevant.
      - Science explains how creation unfolded; Genesis focuses on why. They don’t have to contradict. For instance, the Big Bang theory and our Creator initiating the universe align with each other.
      Hope that helps.

      Very valid question but perhaps I can clarify with an analogy: consider the law of gravity. It is an objective reality-unchanging and universally applicable. However, its application is contingent on variables like air resistance, mass, and inertia. For example, planes can fly, and people can jump or glide, not because gravity stops existing, but because other laws-also objective-interact with it. Gravity remains objectively binding, but how it plays out depends on the larger system of interacting forces. Similarly, objective morality can have applications that vary depending on time, place, and circumstance, without losing its objective nature.
      Take the example of the Jewish dietary laws. According to Christianity, God’s moral law is objective, but certain aspects of it, like prohibitions against eating pork, were given to the Jews for a specific time and purpose. Before Christ, it was objectively wrong for a Jew to eat pork. After Christ’s ministry, that prohibition was lifted. The objective moral fact includes qualifiers-time (before or after Christ), person (Jew or non-Jew), and purpose (to set apart God’s people for a specific covenant). These qualifiers don’t negate objectivity; they are part of it. Ignoring context when discussing objective morality is like saying gravity isn’t real because people don’t always die from falling due to factors like parachutes or wind resistance.
      From a Christian perspective, morality is grounded in God’s unchanging nature. For instance, we abhor murder because it violates God’s value for human life, which reflects His nature. Our nerve endings, emotions, and sense of justice all testify to this objective standard. Without God, morality reduces to preferences or survival mechanisms. For example, a virus might 'prefer' to destroy your immune system because it benefits its survival, while you view that as harmful. Without an objective standard, like God’s will, these become competing perspectives with no higher authority to define what is good or evil. But if God’s will establishes good and evil, it is objectively evil for a virus to compromise your health because that contradicts God’s value for life.
      I hope this explanation makes things clearer.

    • @somerandom3247
      @somerandom3247 11 дней назад

      @
      Wind resistance, or mechanical advantage don't effect gravity at all. They don't interact. you can overcome gravity to an extent, but it is still always the same.
      To tie that to your pork example, its like saying its always objectively wrong to eat pork, but you can physically do it..
      Still wrong tho.
      What do you mean by gods unchanging nature?? You gave murder as an example, but god murders a lot of people in the bible.... so I'm not sure how you get from god killing everyone to killing everyone is wrong...
      "Our nerve endings, emotions, and sense of justice all testify to this objective standard."
      What? how?
      We don't need a god to define good and evil for us, humans did that just fine all on their own.
      Your explanation here didn't clear anything up. it just raised more questions.

    • @TheoSkeptomai3
      @TheoSkeptomai3 10 дней назад +1

      There is no such thing as 'objective' morality.
      Morality is the cognitive process of differentiating between human intentions, decisions, and actions that are morally appropriate (ought to occur in a certain dilemma) from those inappropriate (ought not to occur in a certain dilemma).
      Like all cognitive assessments, moral assessments always and necessarily involve the subject's own biases, experience, attitude, and other personal considerations. Therefore, morality is _always and necessarily_ SUBJECTIVE.
      Each and every individual is the sole arbiter of his or her own morality. I, and I alone, determine which human behaviors are moral, amoral, or immoral, just as everyone else does.

    I had the "why would a good God allow suffering discussion?" with a guy who plays sports. I asked him this question:
    Is it okay for God to allow suffering if something he know is better results?
    He said, "No, if God is Good he shouldn't allow suffering even if there are better results."
    I asked him if he'd ever lifted weights while training to be a better athlete.
    He said yes.
    I asked him if his muscles ever hurt after the training.
    He said yes.
    I asked him why he would cause himself to suffer.
    He said that he did it for the long-term greater gain. That to get better muscles, he had to endure some pain. "No pain, no gain."
    I waited 10 seconds, just looking at him. He finally "got it".

    People struggle with this because it’s too easy to view God as an external entity that you can believe or not believe and is just sort of over in heaven sitting there. But God is sustainer of all things and creator of all things. So it’s less of a good vs bad. It’s godly vs ungodly and He sets the standard.
    It’s easier to think of this when you’re a parent. If I tell my kids not to do something like don’t hit them that’s their “good”. That’s their law. So when I tell them to kick, scream, and hit someone trying to grab them am I telling them to do evil or am I being inconsistent? No. I had purpose

    I actually wrote a little passage about this topic a few months ago,
    {
    Now, let’s provide evidence for why God is all-good, instead of just claiming that He is all-good.
    God is good because He created morality along with the universe; He is the author of morality. Being bad is simply irrational, as it only brings short-term gratification. God is eternal, so He doesn’t care about short-term gratification-only about the longest term (which is the essence of eternity).
    He is also all-knowing because everything in this universe must exist within His mind in order to exist at all. Consider it this way: if you only need to speak one sentence to create an entire universe (from the Latin universum, meaning “one spoken sentence”), you probably know everything, because you are that powerful. It’s like when you imagine something: you create the rules for that scenario.
    For existence to be logical and orderly, there must be a hierarchy of lawgivers. The highest lawgiver must know every detail of order and logic. This being is who we call God.

      1. The question, “Why is there anything rather than nothing?” implies the existence of an eternal dimension. Time begins and ends, and the idea of existence arising from nothing would be irrational without the presence of an eternal dimension. (Time starts at 0; there is no evidence for negative time.)
      2. In our dimension, complexity is finite and evolves over time. There cannot be infinite complexities in our dimension, as it does not allow for physical infinites.
      3. Based on this reasoning, we can conclude that complexity in the eternal dimension must be infinite. In an eternal dimension, time cannot exist, as time inherently requires change and progression. Without time, there is no space for complexity to evolve or develop gradually. For example, in our dimension, complexity evolves through processes like natural selection, which rely on the passage of time. However, an eternal dimension must exist in a state of infinite completeness, as a timeless realm cannot accommodate gradual change or evolution. This infinite complexity, fully realized without dependence on time, is what we would call God.

The actions may be on a level we cannot understand any more than an infant or even a pet doesn’t understand shots for their protection. Very loose and bad example but let’s say we are trying to judge based on our own standard of good and evil. There’s a disconnect with people on believing objective morality could exist without God which it can’t. Notice I’m not saying humans can’t subjectively create a moral system absence of God but that it simply wouldn’t be justifiable. I like using an analogy of a board game. Let’s say a board game spontaneously appeared from errr a big bang out of nowhere…but it only came with the board and game pieces yet no instruction book. You could make up your own rules to the game. You could find that they work and are fulfilling. You could even persuade others that you invite over to your house to adopt the same rules you came up with while playing the game. But there’s nothing obligating every person in your town, state, country, or from other countries around the world to adopt the same rules when playing since there’s literally no official rules. There was no creator to the game. Now contrast that with buying a monopoly board game(or any other popular game of your choosing) that has a definitive created rule manual. There is an objective way to play the game. Now people can still choose to play it however they want by creating “house rules” but no one can argue that an authoritative rules of the game exists for how it’s meant to be played coming from its creator.

For the latter, it seems to be God's nature as conveyed in the word of God. God has purpose in EVERYTHING he does. Take Israel for example. They were completely undeserving of His love. And yet, the prophecies foretold of their exile and their return, for His glory, and for His love of them. And then again they foretold of the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D hundreds of years before, and of their return; once again for His Glory and for His love of them. Imagine the *Perfect Baseball Pitcher.* Perfect aim. Infinite throwing power. Knowledge of everything (including the wind, how to deal with the wind, and any obstacles the might block the shot). *Wherever the ball lands, it was the Pitcher's intent, right?*
    Well God is all-knowing and all-powerful and had no collaborators in creating our universe. A universe with evil.
    Self-contradicting things cannot exist. They can't be true. For example there are no 4-sided triangles because the two parts of its definition contradict one another.
    So either
    A. One accepts logic, and God can't exist due to the contradiction between "all-good" and intentionally causing all evil, OR
    B. One ignores logic, and blindly accepts God without question. (Questions are dangerous to belief.)

    • @seanpol9863
      @seanpol9863 8 дней назад

      Here's the thing: if God's all-powerful and all-knowing, then every bit of suffering and evil in the world is intentional. You can't have it both ways. Either God wanted evil to exist, which makes Him not all-good, or He couldn't stop it, which makes Him not all-powerful.
      Religious apologists sometimes claim "free will" is the answer, but that doesn’t hold up. If God made us knowing we'd cause evil, then He's still responsible for creating that outcome. Plus, a truly all-powerful God could've designed a world where free will exists without suffering-He'd know how, right?
      The logic just doesn't add up. Either you abandon reason to believe in God, or you accept that this "perfect, all-good deity" is a flawed concept.

      It's odd how 'don't murder' is one of the Ten Commandments, yet the Bible's full of stories where God orders massacres, including children. Examples? 1 Samuel 15:3 - God commands Saul to kill men, women, children, and even animals. Deuteronomy 2:34 - Israelites destroy entire cities, sparing no one. And saying those nations sacrificed children doesn't justify slaughter; it just swaps one atrocity for another. If God's all-powerful, couldn't he stop child sacrifice without commanding genocide? Sounds more human than divine.

    The dietary laws weren't overturned. Jesus fulfilled the entire law which was given to us in love. Jesus never ate unclean food. It's the easiest thing to do to be Christlike. Using Peter's dream to say good law was overturned is theologically incorrect, as Peter himself flatly rejected that and refused to break those laws. If Peter, who had that dream, didn't interpret it that way, who are we to say Peter is wrong on that? Swine is unclean.
