Was definitely not expecting the Voltic Chains... Come to think of it, I was definitely not expecting any of the parodies in this game... But anyway, BRAVO!!! Gotta be one of the best neo-retro style games of 2024, at least in my book!
this feels like a PS1 mockup of an NES game, in a good way, what with the sprite rotation at 9:22 and the absence of flicker on all the larger boss sprites. looks fun (and awesome graphics) regardless. (I know it's not supposed to replicate that style directly, Shovel Knight already did that schtick)

Pixel-based sprites, when done right, will always look great no matter how advanced graphics get.
Just look at late-NES era games
Or some SNES games
Or 2D PS1 games
