How to use SEAT Park Assist | Tutorial

- New SEAT vehicles, such as the Ateca and Tarraco, now come equipped with a host of driver assistance systems and the Park Assist feature is one of them!
Using this system can be a daunting experience, especially for the first time. That's why Senior Sales Executive, Peter, shows exactly how it works and what you do or don't need to do.

The Park Assist can be activated by the driver via a switch on the central console. By activating the indicator stalk, he decides the side on which the stationary traffic is to be scanned. While driving by, (up to a speed of 40 km/h and a lateral distance of 0.5 to 1.5 metres), the sensor mechanism detects parking spaces that are large enough to park the car safely. These must be at least 1.1 metres longer than the total length of the car. Once a parking space is detected, a message appears on the multifunction display. Subsequently, the instruction is given to enter the starting position; this is necessary for the parking procedure.
The automatic steering control is activated by engaging reverse gear. The driver can take his/her hands off the wheel and only needs to accelerate and brake gently in which he/she is acoustically assisted by the ultrasonic parking aid. The car automatically parks in reverse, perfectly in line. Apart from that, any other parking manoeuvres necessary depend on the size of the parking space and are communicated to the driver via the display.
The driver can, of course, intervene at any time in the automatic parking process. The system parks automatically both in parallel parking as well as in parking bays. Unparking from parallel parking spaces is also possible.
This is really handy: first because you're a dealer and not the manufacturer, we know this is real (I wasn't quite sure how well it would work in practice), and second because it seems so simple like this, unlike in the manual which manages to make it seem complicated!

Thank you I just picked up my Arona excellence today. For obvious reasons couldn’t get a test drive or demonstrations at the showroom so yea this is great.
I have a 1.0 tsi just bought it 3 days ago im a bit scared though as it has 160.000 km on it, ever had any problems?
@@rba295 none I love it. my only gripe would be the low gas warning goes from 3 bars to red. still gives me 35 miles on red so i don't panic but i don't like being on red.

Do the bays either side have to be occupied or will it spot park you if they are empty by just using the white lines?
Going to try this myself. The Ateca handbook implies the nose of the car has to be partly over the parking space before engaging Park Assist. Will update!

does the Hyundai Arona auto park against a wall
Quick question, when I test drove one of these, it wouldn't go back by just taking my foot off the brake in a DSG, you had to use some accelerator which obviously made it a bit jerky. Is this because auto hold was turned on, I'm guessing that is the case and if you turn it off the automatic can take you forward and back without throttle, can anyone help with this
yeah, its basically as you described. without autohold function it will start slowly forwards when you lift off your leg from a brake. With authold ON you have to touch gas pedal a bit...

will it always select reverse into bays or does it also go nose first ? Reverse parking is always safer.

I am a profoundly disabled person and wheelchair user. Once parked, I need t get my power wheelchair out of the boot. Park assist is no assistance at all if it's going to force me to back in. Even before I was disabled and was doing a highly active job, backing in to a space would have been stupid. I used to drive an estate with a boot full of tool, spares and equipment which I always needed to get to. Why not give the option?

I believe you can get it to drive in by hitting the park assist button again - I’ll try it next time
@@ke1thnewman Assuming it's the same as the VW system - if you drive nose-first partway into a space and then hit Park Assist it will complete the manouvre nose in..

The Tarraco FR has park assist. Does it have a reversing camera also?
