I liked the discussion on shear locking. Too much information in one video for beginners. So are there
Other ways to get rid of shear locking.

Thanks for the video, Qi Dang. Could you suggest textbooks to learn theory of plates and shells along with the their finite element analysis?

Thanks for your message. I reccomend the book of Klaus-Jürgen Bathe: Finite element procedures. Section 5.4.2 introduce the plate and general shell elements.

any lecture would be higly appreciated, thank you for the great video, could you also show how to transform the local stiffness of an element to global stiffness?

Thanks for your comments. For the stiffness matrix transformation, I could prepare a new video to show this problem.

@@qidang Thank you, do you have any lecture note for plate bending to share in finite element method by any chance, I need to solve a 3- D box shape structure using shell elements to see the deformation in linear analysis in matlab.

hello sir, I just have a question about the riks method, in abaqus
I have modelled a hollow hyperelastic sphere under internal pressure using axisymetric, using static riks,
My problem is that I don't know how to plot the pressure versus displacement curve.

how to eliminate the shear locking in solid element with enhanced assumed strain

    • @qidang

It is dependent on your specific problem. In the plate problem, if the plate is very thin, the shear part can be ignored. Thus the Mindlin-Reissner is reduced as Kirchhoff-Love theory.
