I am so glad to find this video. I bought a pink nelco that looks just like this today. I'm going to get it cleaned up and hopefully working to use to make my grandkids some denim quilts. I learned a lot about this machine from this video.
Hi, good morning, Thank for your video on how to thread this class 15 clone. I just picked up last night the exact machine other than mine is badged a White sewing machine. Here is where I need some instruction. The machine I bought has no bobbin case or needle clamp. Will a Singer 15-91 needle clamp fit my clone ? Where do I look/find a quality (or original era) clamp ? Also a quality new or (original era) bobbin case ? Also an owners manual for this style clone. Thank you for your help, I can hardly wait to sew with it ! Bryan
I regular class 15 bobbin case should work in this machine. Not from a Singer 15 though, as they take a bobbin case that is different from all other machines. I have sewing machine parts for sale on EBAY. This needle clamp should work www.ebay.com/itm/115331782342 and I do have class 15 bobbin cases available. I can list one on EBAY if you decide that you would like to purchase from me
Can you help me? I picked up a very similar machine in very good condition. Mine is the Deluxe "Champion". When I turned on power, I got some sizzling, sparking and burning smell inside the motor case. Do you know what I should look for or how I can get motor parts? I cannot find any information on my machine. Thank you
The motor may just need to be cleaned. If there is a lot of dust in the motor, it will sizzle a little bit. Are there carbon ports on the outside of the motor case?? they will be little round screw looking things. If so, very carefully unscrew them. There is a spring down in there, and they like to fly across the room never to be found again. See if you can take the spring and carbon out. If you can, there will be 2 btw, then take a qtip dip in alcohol, and stick it down in there to clean the commutator. it will come out black. Also, you should have at least a 1/4 inch of carbon on the end of the spring. put it back together, plug it in. if you see sparks coming off of the commutator bar, that is normal. the carbons are reseating. 1. If the motor gets hot, then there is a problem with the motor and it will need to be replaced. 2. Check that the wiring is intact.
I have exact machine and I love it. However, the Mercury foot pedal just began not working when depressing it, if I give hand wheel a push then it sews fast. I opened foot pedal and it looks fine. No carbon build up, put back together and it’s worse. I want to replace it. Should I go with newer electronic pedal? I’ve replaced my singer 15 with newer “electronic” pedal (new from Amazon) and it works fine. Thank you.
There are a couple of different types of vintage foot pedals. If it is the one with the carbon disks, there is really not an easy way to rehabilitate that type of pedal. If it is the kind with the wire springs looped around the contacts, I have had varying success with those. You can use just about any foot pedal you can get your hands on. If you prefer a vintage pedal, I do have some for sale. You would have to disconnect or cut the wire from your pedal, then rewire. Personally, I prefer the metal pedals over the plastic ones. Only for their weight. They dont slip around the floor as easy.
@@tksewingmachineandrepair4243 Thank you. It’s not the kind with discs. It’s the 2nd one you mentioned. I think it might be the 2 terminals and the frayed wires maybe. Idk. I’m not an expert by any means. I appreciate your help. I prefer the metal ones too. I will contact you to buy refurbished one if I can’t get mine working. Thanks again.
I need a new foot pedal. I’m looking for the metal one either by Mercury or Sears has a very similar one, model 6812, which I have attached to my Kenmore 158 machine. Will this type work as well? Let me know if I can buy from you. Thanks.
Wow it looks great, by the way is it mounted on a lazy Susan? Because it looks that an ve very helpful when there are difficult projects like repairing your backpack
Hope you received my response to your reply, in regard to purchasing needle clamp and a class 15 (clone) bobbin case from Ebay. Having a hard time finding what I sent. Thanks Bryan
The nest thing to do to get the belt size right. Take off the belt. Remount the motor to the middle of the mount bracket. Take a piece of string and go around the belt path, measure the string. Then order that size
This was a great walk through. Thank you!!
I just received one of these clones. It's a beautiful turquoise/blue green and cream. It reminds me of a vintage corvette.
@@GG-ud1ib the colors of these machines are iconic, like a corvette
I just found one of these beauties!!!!! Mine badged “Lits” and its as solid and gorgeous as a classic car ❤

Thank you. I will try that. Much appreciated. This machine is so worth fixing. ❤

Thank you for your comment. I made the lazy susan so that I can work on the machines. Used a heavy duty hardware.
