  • Urologist Dr. Karyn Eilber explains that if you're feeling very dehydrated, drinking water or something with electrolytes quickly is the best way to hydrate, since hydrating intravenously is not always accessible.

Guys I think the purpose of this video is to debunk the ‘get hydrated fast with my special cumcumber juice formula” kind of thing. I don’t think she’s trying to necessarily tell you what to do but give you a realistic expectation for the few ways it’s physically possible to hydrate quickly. That’s why it sounds like a ‘whole lot of nothing’ bc really even with electrolytes your options are limited. That being said I personally (as a patient not a doctor) don’t see anything wrong with special water concoctions so long as they are safe for you and help you drink.

So, Cucumber has a different molecular structure or whatever you call it of water. That structure is the only form of water the body takes, the bottled water you drink has to be converted internally before you can properly hydrate. This is why cucumber water is the fastest way to hydrate other than with an IV. So that would be incorrect. 😂 .. And drinking quickly to hydrate faster is so true. Trust me, I have tried it. If you’ve ever had a dehydration sickness.. Like shaking, white tongue, migraine, vomiting bile etc. If you drink a couple of bottles in a short time it will dissipate all symptoms like a narcotic would. If you drink a lot of freshly squeezed orange juice or cucumber it would set you on a high, literally . 😂 It’s amazing. Try it

Here's ways to slow dehydration before it happens
Eat liquidity foods (soups work well well, veggies and fruits, )
Drink 1 cup of water before a meal
Understand how much liquid hydrates you based off of how much you drink (percents by object works well)
Drink more depending on a weather schedule (so plan ahead basically)
Hold water in your mouth if you wanna hydrate your mouth specifically
LEAST hydrating drinks are salty, vinegary, citric (lemons, oranges...)
Avoid getting that one specific tummy ache when you know you're gonna work out...but drink a little when you know you'll be working more
Slowing your breathing should avoid drying of your mouth and sweating everr so slightly (b/c if your body was working hard, then it could use a faster temp cool by controlling your breath)
Just some I thought about 😊

drinking quickly doesn't hydrate your body.

I don’t think she’s saying that’s the best a way to hydrate (best as in ‘most effective’) I think she’s saying ‘if you are determined to hydrate super quickly at most all you can do is drink quickly.’ There’s a difference between saying that and suggesting drinking quickly is a good long term practice for hydration and health.

Exactly! ❤Everyone knows it intuitively, but refuses to speak up! Biology involves common sense. Watching a movie at 10x speed doesn't mean you assimilate the story, although you had a short glimpse of overwhelming information that just went through your head. The body ain't gonna catch up with that speed. If this advice is just for emergency purposes, I still remain sceptical of it. It isn't a Nobel price winning statement anyway! If someone was doing it the right way in the first place, they probably wouldn't have reached a stage of chucking an entire valley down the throught at marathon speed.
