If you're in the overnight storm zone, make sure your cell phone: a) is fully charged; b) is NOT on silent mode; c) has emergency alerts enabled (should be in your Settings menu); and d) is on a nearby nightstand/table when you go to bed. Taking these steps can potentially save your life. Be safe out there!
If you have data/wifi, that is the only 2 ways you get an alert. Many won't, if cell towers are gone

@@population-_-420 FYI, I'm an older woman with no Facebook, Insta, or X account. But I do have a cell phone with the alerts enabled, and I've had it go off a few times with tornado warnings and amber alerts. The sound can wake the dead which comes in handy if radar picks up a twister in the middle of the night when I'm fast asleep.

I see glaring mistakes almost night in the wording of the captions and their reports are basically the same thing each night. There is so much going on that never gets reporting that needs to be in a desperate way. They should be reporting nightly about the starving babies and little boys and girls in Africa that are dying in the 10s of thousands monthly. Horrible atrocities in Syria and Russia and North Korea and China and many other places, I could write a book about all the horrible things going on that never get reported

To all the current college/graduate school students, especially the Middle School Class of 2016/High School Class of 2020, now College (Bachelor's) Class of 2024 and soon-to-be Graduate School (Master's) Class of 2026 in 2 years, I just want to let you know that as your older Gen Z brother, I am thinking about all of you and am very proud of your accomplishments as well as your perseverance/resiliency. But at the same time, my heart goes out to all of you who had to weather many events such as high school mass shootings, a historic Trump Presidency, a global pandemic, and now college protests.
