Suddenly, all new houses, and additional lines, upgrades, etc in home started being done with the stuff. I was a gas pipe fitter in my youth, and I never thought this new soft stuff was a good idea. One misplaced nail into it and one suddenly has a gas leak INSIDE the wall of a house, where the occupants often could not smell the leak. Then someone flips a wall switch, source of ignition, and the house goes up. There is a story in this. In the meantime, don't let anyone put that stuff in your house, and if you find any, switch it out for galvanized or "black" steel pipe.
