***** there's nothing wrong with being commercial, just because an artist may chart high doesn't mean they lose their integrity, I don't like the fact that she isn't successful, I think she works a lot harder on her stuff than a lot of other people in all aspects of her music, persona and visuals. I didn't like it at first either. There are many songs like this that one listens to for the first time and only likes them the second time. For example, I didn't like the high parts of 'Froo-oo-oot'. But I listened to it more and it became one of my favorite Marina songs.

What you said about lyrics being cringey and pseudo-intellectual...well, I was just thinking about how FROOT executed each of its songs perfectly while maintaining powerful lyrics (Savages, Immortal, etc). Man's World seemed fine, but the other two singles from Ancient Dreams feel like...she's singing headlines if that makes sense? I get it, she wants to include social issues, but it doesn't feel well-incorporated or thought out fully. The lyrics themselves aren't even like, shocking or poignant or anything. The first time I head Purge the Poison I honestly kinda cringed, even as much as I love Marina. This comment is a lot longer than I meant it to be but I just realized I've been holding onto these thoughts for a couple months now lol

I heard this song whilst shopping in H&M, didn't know the name of the song or the artist and straightway I was completely hooked onto it so I just typed up some of the lyrics and finally I found it here!!!
I remember I could not stop listening to it when it came out. I do not think the lyrics are as sexual and literal as people think --- this is a beautiful metaphor for being ready to love and about how good it feels to finally be loved back (unlike 6 years ago when this song came out, today I do know how this feels). This album as a whole brings so many good memories. Froot will forever be in my heart.

I do not think the lyrics are as sexual and literal as people think --- this is a beautiful metaphor for being ready to love and about how good it feels to finally be loved back (unlike 6 years ago when this song came out, today I do know how this feels).
