Hey Mark, Thanks for the review! I know this is a specific question but do you know if external mics can work with either model? I would assume you'd need a usb-C connector but I've had phones that just didn't support external mics at all and its kinda of key for me and the videos I do.
All Motorola razors in my opinion are the best flip phones out there whether it is the razor razor Plus or the razor 50 all of them are excellent Love mines
Everything is relative. I have an ancient iPhone 6s. The standard Razr MUST be better than that, right? The biggest thing for me (besides price) is being able to zoom in. Will the standard Razr do that? Also, transferring all my stuff from old iPhone to Razr concerns me. Is it easy for a non-techie to do? Lastly, I can get a good deal with my carrier and pay over time. No free warranty, however, and I don't want to pay $7 a month indefinity. I'm careful with my stuff so hopefully I'll be okay. Would appreciate your wisdom on my questions! Thanks!
I liked my 2023 Razr a lot! But yesterday I saw this phone online BARELY and instantly went in for a free upgrade to this new beauty for 0$ I'm in love with the external display upgrade it's fucking stunning for day to day use I'm a happy customer.
To those considering getting this phone this year, you might want to wait another more year. The razr 2025 models might get more years of OS upgrades, and a true flagship named "ORION" is in development.
Funny that all reviewers are saying they would rather keep the ultrawide instead of telephoto. I have only used an ultrawide camera mode a single time in the last maybe 5-6 years, while I use telephoto 2x and 3.3x more often than regular camera mode
Oh trust me, I'd rather have a 3.3x zoom lens. My point in the video is that it's a dumb move by Motorola by ONLY having a 2x zoom when it could've been a 3x or 3.3x or 4x. The 2x digital on the main 50-megapixel sensor is strong enough and normal Razr can do it too.
Were you at the Motorola Razr + party with Paris Hilton? That's iconic! lol I love my Motorola Razr+ 2023 flip phone. I was kinda mad I bought it a couple months before they launched this new upgraded one lol
I just bought a Moto Razr 2024 (50) for $350 on Walmart last week. Too good of a deal to not go with the Razr instead of the Galaxy Flip. This phones been pretty good. The only downsides to me are: I hear Motorola is very slow about updating their software compared to other companies like Samsung. I also noticed very minor and minuscule issues with apps sometimes like RUclips may be a little of center; but I usually can close/lock the phone and it fixes itself.
As a new user to flip phones, I love the ultra, this thing is rad and blends what I loved about flip phones from the early 2000s with modern tech. Today I ran into an interesting predicament trying to use Google maps and playing Pandora at the same time on the external screen. It works, but I couldn't get maps to show full screen. Overall I love it!
I have the iPhone 15 pro max right now but was eyeing this one or the Samsung fold 6 ended up getting this one as my back up phone can’t wait to get it
Just ordered mine. Xfinity has $400 off without trade in and the 2024 is only $499 so I just paid $100 for it. I can not wait to finally have a phone that has wireless charging. I refuse to pay 1k for a phone to get this feature which is usually the case. I think many people forget some of us don't care that much about taking pictures or gaming. It seems to be the assumption that is what everyone wants so reviews are skewed that way.
Again, Canada is starved for colour options. All carriers have Midnight Blue, Rogers also offers Hot Pink. Nice throwback to the original Razr. But I really like that Peach colour.
They don't even offer the cheaper version and two colors only?? I don't understand why they do that, why can they offer the same colors,??? Basically forcing us to drive across the border and buy one from Buffalo if ever your making a day trip to Niagara falls or order one online and pay custom and duties
I disagree with the L on the wide angle lens. The main sensor is already plenty wide at 24mm. Anything wider than that will distort the image, especially human subjects, vs a telephoto, which is much more useful for portrait capture and better zoom quality. 35mm - 50mm lens after all is the golden zone for taking pictures of people and animals. OEMs do lots of consumer research to make these decisions, and consumer surveys say most people preferred a tele lens instead
I'm really digging the design of the Moto Razr 50. That pOLED display is going to be fire! Hopefully, it's priced right for the Indian market. Additionally, the reliable mediatek chipset also seems very promising one!
Got the Moto40, way less bloatware than...Only 3 gripes are the front Camera is pretty ordinary😢 however photos a lot better in " high resolution"😊Along with not being dust proof or waterproof. .also find the drop down menu is way easier to use, than Samsung. Flip6 would tic all the boxes. Thanx 4 the review.😊
The camera on the Motorola Razr 2024 is incredible! With 50MP and night vision capabilities, I can capture amazing shots anytime with the prowess of Mediatek chipset
It's basically going to come down to the versatility and utilization of the outer display in regards to flip phones. Thus far, the Razr ultra beats the flip 6 in that department since this is one of the main reasons to get a flip phone aside from them being compact.
I've own the Razr 50 Ultra now for about 3 weeks and have to say that there are still some bugs. If I try to use the camera for a video, it doesn't matter if it's in 4k or 1080p with or without H.265 enabled, it stutters. Also it seems to be in a kind of "wake up" mode when you start using it, as the screen isn't as smooth at it should be. It recovers after about 30 seconds and it's fast again. I don't know if it's an app in the background, software issues with the CPU or anything else. I still hope for an sw update to fix everything. I already opened a case at Motorola for this.
Is it me or are the regular Razr internal and external screens flickering a LOT in the video? I've heard of people trying to measure and capture flicker rates but that's in a dark room with a dark screen. It looks like the phone's at a normal-to-high brightness in a well-lit room.
That’s cause I was filming at a high frame rate and the external screen mismatched the frequency. It’s totally fine in the real world! Both in bright or dim lighting
Thank you for explaining what happened! The initial flickering was something like a minute in while scrolling on the interior display. I think it's probably the same problem you described though 👍
I totally agree with your review. The ONE big item you did not cover is minimal bloatware on the Razr. Samsung is full of unnecessary bloatware that kills the battery. I have a Samsung zfold and the bloatware is horrendous.... Cannot be paused or deleted and Samsung confirmed that to me face to face. The Samsung employee informed me that bloatware is the largest complaint Samsung receives from owners.
Good video man! nice phone, but the chip is a bit slow for a power user like me, who uses work programs. i still use my mi 11t pro with great satisfaction, altough it's an older phone. But i can see how a regular user would find this phone fitting as a great nostalgia kicker and great looking device over all.
Yeah definitely not the fastest chip around but for your everyday normal people, I think it’s good enough for them. I would need an 8G2 at minimum currently 😅
I prefer the telephoto i do alot of content creation and take photos of my clients. I never use the ultra wide on my iPhone. The razr is perfection! So happy with my decision to preorder
I have the RAZR 2023 (Viva Magenta T-Mobile U.S.) and would love to upgrade. But my only and main issue is what am I getting? The fact that it is a tiny "bleeping" 256gb and 512bg base yet for increasing MP and this and this is a hard no for me. Once I heard that I was done no matter what. Power this and all that is already fine so I am so surprised no reviewer ever is discussing this. With all the camera increasing and video these days this should be a main issue to be discussed esp for a "so called" upgrade. Now I live my RAZE 2023 but will be waiting for 2025 version or ideally a 512gb with option external microSD would be the oerfect scenerario!!! I have many great pics and edit videos on my phone and have done so many things in it so it is just very disappointed in not having a 512gb esp for people who really use these great phones. Also in 2024 I feel the base for any higher end phone should only be 512gb and up! I had read there was a 512gb version but checked various websites and T-mobile and there was not any option for 512gb! Still will always choose RAZR over Samsung and fet many compliments on my photos and videos even without processing on the RAZR! Also Green is my fav color so was also double disappointed not to be able to get the new green color due to the same low 256gb as the previous version. But also perhaps is also good not to upgrade each year which in the past I prefer to finish paying off a phone until getting a new one so I own it. The only phone I ever bought outright because could not get on carrier in the U.S.A. was Blackberry Passport SE.
Is this good for youtube Quality like 1440P on RUclips. Plus TikTok plus Twitch & social media thats all i use it for plus for calling people & texting people thats all. Is it good on the Cricket Wireless Phone Carrier
If only there was a 300 $ affordable option for this with great specs and a 5000mah battery i would buy it immediately. They really market there only in the premium category. Samsung is doing some effort to lower prices but it is for last years models.
I hate the fact that I'm forced to replace my Moto razor plus 2023 because I dropped it and I only had it 10 months I know I had insurance I still had payments on it and I'm looking at the 2024 the Plus and the regular one is hard to decide which to choose cuz going from plus to Plus does it seem like it's equal . And paying $900 for a phone is ridiculous
Regular, non content creator especially Gen-Z prefer “.5” aka UW cameras just fyi. I think it’s dumb to have a 2x zoom lens when main is capable of it. Would’ve been better if it’s a 3.2x or 4x optical tbh.
Moto's internal research said the opposite. Dunno if they broke it down by age group in which case, sure gen z prefers the UW. Maybe they're thinking younger kids with iPhone pro money will go Samsung anyway. Keeping the UW in their cheaper phone gets them more market share and possibly the more tech obsessed buyer for whom the better cover screen is appealing that has $1000 is a slightly older age group? As an elder millennial, I don't use the UW that much, a better portrait or zoom shot (mostly for my cats lol) is preferred and the exterior screen is a huge draw, even at a grand. @@HeyMarkL
Excited for the Dimensity 7300X! The upcoming Moto Razr 50 is generating buzz with the Dimensity 7300X chipset, promising smooth performance and efficient multitasking. Can't wait to see it in action!
Definitely not the processor or dust proof element also can get it quite a bit cheaper now than RAZR 50 so is it worth the extra cash. If you live in UK you don't need the brightest display! The battery is good enough and with 14 it should be better.
I just ordered one on accident. Watching this to see how screwed I am. I hate the fact this stupid thing folds. I hate the fact it's got a screen on the outside - more to protect. I will only ever want the unfolded full screen. I don't know the exact model number but this one has "Screen 6.9 IN - Camera 64 MP" (through Boost Moble) I'm probably going to exchange it for another Moto 5G. - Thing is the folding hinge and screen are the most expensive on these phones so if you don't spend the 12 bucks a month service plan you'll be sorry when it breaks.
Can someone tell me, if I can use all the Google AI Power on these Motorolas? Like Circle for Search, Gemini live, live translation with your camera ...
This year’s Razr series is a huge upgrade and actually makes me consider buying one. However, there are two big things holding me back: lack of long term software support and too expensive. Motorola’s trade in deals are not very good either so when you consider that along with how expensive these phones are, it isn’t exactly worth it yet. If Motorola would significantly lower their prices for the Razr phones, offer higher trade in values, and offer way longer software support then it would be the best option in flip phones. I’d never even consider the Samsung flip phones because they do offer longer support but man are they expensive. The Razr phones actually look better design wise and have a fuller outer display. If prices were more reasonable, I’d definitely go with that Razr 2024 in the Spritz orange color.
The only issue with these foldable phones is the screen crease. I've just had my 4th (out of 4) screens fail at the crease. Buyer Beware, both Samsung and Motorola play games and do not like to honor their warrantee claims.
I’d always rather have a telephoto over ultras wide .. most main cameras are wide already and just can usually always get further back but can’t always get closer to stuff
@@HeyMarkL maybe i got a bad batch, it also gets super hot while using it, its definitely not worth $1000 the hinge is wobbly it sucks, and the cameras suck

I'm between the razr 50 Or the Google pixel 8 Pro, which you think is better between both. Thank you!
Hey Mark, Thanks for the review! I know this is a specific question but do you know if external mics can work with either model? I would assume you'd need a usb-C connector but I've had phones that just didn't support external mics at all and its kinda of key for me and the videos I do.
Hey! Thanks for tuning in 🙌🏼 - as far as I’m aware it should work if you have USB C connector for your mic.
Oh wow! That’s a worthy upgrade then! Hope it’s been a good experience for ya so far.
A razr mini would be perfect
I just bought a Moto Razr 2024 (50) for $350 on Walmart last week. Too good of a deal to not go with the Razr instead of the Galaxy Flip. This phones been pretty good. The only downsides to me are: I hear Motorola is very slow about updating their software compared to other companies like Samsung. I also noticed very minor and minuscule issues with apps sometimes like RUclips may be a little of center; but I usually can close/lock the phone and it fixes itself.
Edit: Off*** not "of center"
I bought mine in the Orange burst color for $760. I really love what they did, just hope it survives 😂
4:37 that's all I needed to hear.
Loving the idea of a bigger 3.6" display on the Razr 2024! With the Dimensity 7300X chip, it’s bound to be smooth!
Question how often do you actually take ultra wide pics? Cuz I've taken like 3 in my whole life
I love this phone, I had the flip 5 before and the razr 50 ultra is waaaaay better
The maps thing could be a settings on the external display or just have to force it to take up the entire full screen.
Thanks! Sorta figured it was user error on my part but all in all I love this new model!
Are you sure you got the razr 2024? It's $599 for me while last year's razr is $499.
Again, Canada is starved for colour options. All carriers have Midnight Blue, Rogers also offers Hot Pink. Nice throwback to the original Razr. But I really like that Peach colour.
Oh I didn't know Canada even had them, all I see are iphones and Samsung.
They don't even offer the cheaper version and two colors only?? I don't understand why they do that, why can they offer the same colors,??? Basically forcing us to drive across the border and buy one from Buffalo if ever your making a day trip to Niagara falls or order one online and pay custom and duties
If they could just make this phone a tad wider to compensate for the tall aspect ratio it would be a straight cop for me personally speaking
Oh hundred percent agreed on this. If it was maybe a bit shorter, and a tad bit wider it would be more ideal.
OEMs do lots of consumer research to make these decisions, and consumer surveys say most people preferred a tele lens instead
love moto phones but one thing stoping me from going back is the updates
I've seen the ultra-processed sort of look on the regular RAZR 2024. Do you know if it's better if you turn off HDR within the camera settings?
I'm really digging the design of the Moto Razr 50. That pOLED display is going to be fire! Hopefully, it's priced right for the Indian market. Additionally, the reliable mediatek chipset also seems very promising one!
Got the Moto40, way less bloatware than...Only 3 gripes are the front Camera is pretty ordinary😢 however photos a lot better in " high resolution"😊Along with not being dust proof or waterproof. .also find the drop down menu is way easier to use, than Samsung. Flip6 would tic all the boxes. Thanx 4 the review.😊
Im switching to this from s23 ultra. Hope its not disappointing conpared to the current phone i have been using.
The camera on the Motorola Razr 2024 is incredible! With 50MP and night vision capabilities, I can capture amazing shots anytime with the prowess of Mediatek chipset
How long will the phone receive software support from Motorola?
Im in India and been eyeing razr 50 and razr 40 ultra since a while. I am getting 40 ultra at 30% cheaper than razr 50, which one should I prefer?
40 Ultra honestly isn’t that bad of a phone. Hopefully the latest Android update rolls out on that soon 🤞🏼
It's basically going to come down to the versatility and utilization of the outer display in regards to flip phones. Thus far, the Razr ultra beats the flip 6 in that department since this is one of the main reasons to get a flip phone aside from them being compact.
Isnt razr plus 2023 better than razr 2024
Any experience of slow responsiveness or camera shutter lag when the phone gets hot?
I've own the Razr 50 Ultra now for about 3 weeks and have to say that there are still some bugs. If I try to use the camera for a video, it doesn't matter if it's in 4k or 1080p with or without H.265 enabled, it stutters. Also it seems to be in a kind of "wake up" mode when you start using it, as the screen isn't as smooth at it should be. It recovers after about 30 seconds and it's fast again. I don't know if it's an app in the background, software issues with the CPU or anything else. I still hope for an sw update to fix everything. I already opened a case at Motorola for this.
The combination of the Moto Razr 50's design and the Dimensity 7300X chipset promises a seamless user experience. Can’t wait to try it out!
Rarz 50 ultra is the Flip to have
Is it me or are the regular Razr internal and external screens flickering a LOT in the video?
@@HeyMarkL oh boy, i understand completely! Good luck with the channel brother 🤗
With the thermal issues these phones have, it doesn't really need a faster processor.
If there was only a black color for the 50 ultra, i love the phone
Great video Man ! Keep up the great work !
Thank you so much man! 🙏🏼
@@HeyMarkL :) 😅🙂 👍 Hope Your Staying Hydrated With Some Water Man ! 🙂
It's great for consuming content like RUclips/TikTok/Twitch. It's plenty fast!
@@HeyMarkL does it have & work with 1440P on RUclips or only 1080P
If only there was a 300 $ affordable option for this with great specs and a 5000mah battery i would buy it immediately. They really market there only in the premium category. Samsung is doing some effort to lower prices but it is for last years models.
But the camera suuuucks though :( :( :( Otherwise I would get this thang in a second
I still prefer the 2019 older design more, I really liked the chin
Moto now has nice premium and good mid range razr, now they need a entry level $400 razr with a sanpdragon 4 or Dimensity 6300
Anybody has had it for a while? How does it hold up?
Does anyone know which years the razr has a physical sim slot? I heard some only have esim capabilities.
Man this phone looks great, but only 3 years of updates is a deal breaker
No one keeping same phone anyway for 3yrs something else will have came out by then
@@sonny79ddefinitely not true. People are definitely holding onto their phones longer
wanted the razr 50 ultra, but officially unavailable in germany, only through resellers, also motorolas update policy pushed me towards the flip 6
Are Flip Phones Long Lasting ?????
I'd say most NEED an UW camera....they just THINK they need it and only use it 10% of the time. (Regular, non-content creator people)
Regular, non content creator especially Gen-Z prefer “.5” aka UW cameras just fyi.
@@HeyMarkL
Phones for finally perfect? Those cameras say otherwise... The flagship model is also missing my beloved ultrawide-angle lens
Excited for the Dimensity 7300X! The upcoming Moto Razr 50 is generating buzz with the Dimensity 7300X chipset, promising smooth performance and efficient multitasking. Can't wait to see it in action!
Is the RAZR 50 better than the 40 ultra?
Yep pretty much in all aspects.
I think the razr - actually looks better than the razr+. And I like the orange, but with a much weaker cpu idk if it's worth it
Can someone tell me, if I can use all the Google AI Power on these Motorolas? Like Circle for Search, Gemini live, live translation with your camera ...
Unfortunately, the hinge is way less durable than the flip 6
Hinge still sucks. Once it feels like a Samsung hinge and they get there updates right then maybe
Hinge on the Razr 50 Ultra / Razr+ is maybe slightly less stiff than the new Flip 6. Source: I just compared both while replying to you lol
I have both the flip 6 and razr 50 ultra and the hinge is great on both. Maybe ever so slightly stiffer on the flip 6 but very happy with both
What exactly is Vegan Leather?
Pleather? Plastic wrap for the modern family 😊
Are you able to download samsung wallet on this?
How long did it take for the screens to fail on your foldable phones?
The processor is fine your just complaining
fair, I guess I'm just used to flagship processors.
Photos of razr 50 are much better than of razr 50 ultra !
T mobile has the razor for $550 so I bought it and watching this video on it 😅
Cutey! 😊
I’d always rather have a telephoto over ultras wide .. most main cameras are wide already and just can usually always get further back but can’t always get closer to stuff
I have the plus. My only gripe is a lack of cases
More should be available in the coming months. It did just come out, so fingers crossed in a few weeks or months.
i just got my 2024 razr plus, honestly its really slow :/
That’s interesting! Didn’t have issues with mine. Thought the Razr (2024) was a lot slower than the Plus
@@HeyMarkL maybe i got a bad batch, it also gets super hot while using it, its definitely not worth $1000 the hinge is wobbly it sucks, and the cameras suck
The prices should be $400 for razr2024 and $650 for the razr+2024. They are way overpriced because of the folding displays.
Android baby!
