@@Josh.Vanjani Wow, ok. But watching it again, I can understand why. The simplicity, a man with his guitar out in stunning nature and the natural lights are great. The piece of music is also fab 👍☺️
Thanks, Brad! Sure thing, you're welcome anytime. I'm planning on getting the vaccine this week now that my web development class is over so I'm looking forward to some summer travel too!
Excellent Josh! You inspire me to play more Classical Guitar. Your tone is beautiful. Thank you for always being a good friend and encouraging me. Hope to meet you one day.
Thanks, David! Totally go for some more classical! I have the sheet music linked in the description (it's free on IMSLP). If you're ever up this way let me know. You're down in FL, right? That's be a good trip too, especially in the winter.
Thanks, Steven! Yes, there certainly are a lot of scenic locations! I've actually used this one a few times, but changed the camera angles so the background is different, ha ha.
Thanks, Justin! Yes, I tried to add some more feeling into the piece, along with a bit of theatrics, ha ha. It only took me three years to get to this point...😆
Thanks, Georg! This is the one time of year the daffodils are in bloom, so I had to get it on camera! You can see last year's performance here too, the playlist is linked at the end of the video! 🙂
Very beautiful piece and playing :-) I admire you classical guitarists :-) I can well see the HDR, looks nice with a lot of details in the image :-) Greetings from Switzerland.
Thanks! Yes, definitely give it a try! Honestly, cell phone quality is quite good nowadays. If you hit up 5 Below you can get a starter phone tripod cheap and you'll be free to film on location. 😉
Well played Josh! If I was to sit outside and play it would be all mud and the sound of U-Hauls! My mother is a fan of yours by the way. All the best, Dale
Thanks, Dale! Wow, great to see you on my channel, it's an honor 🙏. It's funny. this location is a half mile from my house to the east, but a half mile in the other direction to the west is a U-Haul rental store, ha ha. Tell your mom I appreciate her viewership too!
Thanks, Madison! This is part of the cemetery property, it's about a half mile from my house. If I were to pan the camera a bit left there would be a bunch of headstones (maybe it'd work for a Halloween piece, ha ha). The Saco River itself is 136 miles long, so I've gone to other riverside spots around town too. It's the only quiet place to record 😎
Thanks, Josh! Yes, the "metronome version" so ubiquitous in recitals comes off as bland at best and monotonous at worst. The rubato puts that human element back in, giving the piece it's lyrical emotion. It's quite the pleasant piece played with rubato!
Thanks, Nathalie! I'm always on the lookout for new scenic filming locations. I re-used this one because once a year the daffodils are in bloom. Also, I filmed my first outdoor video here last year, and it was a Carulli piece, so it was rather a nod to my past success as well.
The quality is just perfect! Pretty sure I heard this piece somewhere, probably when I had my guitar recital. Sounds beautiful :) A nice looking background there!
Thanks, Kathleen! Yes, that's entirely possible that you did, it's one of Carulli's most famous pieces. I play it a bit differently now than I did when I was starting out. The "metronome version" is pretty bland, but adding a bit of rubato here and there gives it some emotion.
Beautiful Carulli piece, he has some longer pieces that amaze me. You recorded in a really cool place Josh, seems that you set a low exposition light in your camera for this
Thanks, Pedro! Sorry to hear about the light, it sounds like your device may not support HDR. I filmed this in HDR, but RUclips will convert it to an SDR that makes everything look very dark. Even though I knew it might be an issue for some viewers, I did it with the mindset that in, say, five years when it's more common people will still watch this and can enjoy it in HDR. When you get one come back again and enjoy the color! 🙂
Thanks, Kieran! Yes, those rests can be tricky. When I first encountered this piece it was part of a guitar anthology. Not only did it only list the piece as "Andante" without any opus, etc., but it only printed one of the rests. For this performance, I used the original manuscript and--rubato aside--retained all of Carulli's instructions. Hope to see some Irish green in your videos soon! ☘️
@@Josh.Vanjani where did you source the original material? Yea a lot of the time i ignore those type of rests 🤣 very well played and i like the way you prefer to interpret the piece as it was intended originally
@@mcdonnellkieran68 I use a site called IMSLP, "International Music Score Library Project." It has thousands of public domain works for free. I have a link in the description to the score for this piece, check it out! And play it however you feel, I'm not a purist (despite what folks may think, ha ha). Would love to hear your interpretation on your own channel!
Thanks, Tomas! I knew if anyone noticed that humor it'd be you! And yes, you commented on my first performance of this way back in 2018. So far as I can tell, you're my longest standing subscriber. You've been along for the entire ride and I've been happy to have you along. 🙂

Really liked this one! Great playing, great scene and super quality of both the video and sound :)
Thanks, Martin! I definitely play this better now than I did in 2018. I hope you had an HDR screen to enjoy this in fully color quality! 😎

Great work Josh! Those gut strings go really well with this one!
Thanks, Wyatt! I think so too, it adds a bit of a softer tone in the bass.
