Now that you've scaled up your plan in Episode 4, you need to assign some dimensions to see if your design really works. But it seems so arbitrary whether a room is 10'-8" or 10'-7-1/2" wide…or IS it? Well fear not, because in this episode we tap into the stream of consciousness of an experienced architect (moi!) so you can see how somebody's whose job depends on getting it right…actually assigns dimensions.
So get out your iPad, download the free Sketchup file I use in this video in the description below, and get ready for Day 5: How Experienced Architects Determine Final Dimensions

ABOUT: My name is James Akers and I'm a practicing architect who also supported my family as a full-time renderer working in pencil and watercolor, up until the day that pencil and watercolor could no longer keep up with the pace of change in the modern digital office. So in 2015, I followed Tim Cook's lead, switched to Apple Pencil on iPad, and haven't looked back. Now, as UCLA professor of iPad Drawing and founder of the iPad for Architects RUclips channel, I split my time between teaching, rendering, design consulting, architect-ing, and my favorite of all: helping students rediscover the benefits of drawing-by-hand in the digital era through online courses in Sketchup for iPad, Morpholio Trace and Sketchup for iPad.
