  • Farmer Brian shows you how to build and assemble a sand table to help give your seedlings an amazing start even in cold climates! Sand tables have been in use for 7 years at Bidwell Canyon Farm and give the farm a much-needed jump on its warm-weather crops like tomatoes, peppers, and squash. The sand tables create a microclimate for your precious seedlings even when temperatures are freezing cold! I recommend a second structure inside the hoop house. Outer layer stops the wind and rain, inner layer hold in the heat.
I have small hoophouses over my nursery tables. I have a layer of plastic for it, and over that I will place the foil bubble radiant barrier when it’s really cold

Nice! We have used the little mini hoops with agribon over the rows and will double and sometimes triple that, i like the idea of just one layer of extra material tho!

Just stumbled across channel through yard hydrant video. Appreciate the details, thoughts on reusing scrap and music. Looking forward to more videos and building my tables with seeing how lining with old swimming pool sides works out.

Hmmm... Wondering if a temp probe/thermostat situation could handle the cable being plugged into it? My polytunnel heats up and cools super quickly

I am pretty sure it would. I have just been too lazy to try.

4:09 would a spreader bar have helped here to level it out?

Yeah you probably want to try and get your hands on something with a little bit more strength before loading it with sand. I wonder if you could use the radiata but double the framing where the sand sits? Lay some thicker plywood down and do your best to seal the table from moisture. Might just work. What do you think?
