Spring Beaver Trapping in the UP | April 05, 2024

Just a quick impromptu video sharing some trapping footage from Spring Beaver season 2024. I filmed this on April 05, 2024. I wanted to share it because I thought the camera captured nature beautifully this spring day. Here I used a NO-BS Beaver Extreme foothold upstream of a dam. This trap was attached to a Hagz lock that allowed me to attach it to a fiberglass rebar rod to create a submersion set. Today it yielded a 41-pound beaver. I think I would like to use 20 ft rods next year to get better submersion.
I will skin it and sell the skin to the fur buyer when he comes around in May. The meat will be ground up and enjoyed by my family and friends. The organ meat we feed to the dogs for an organic snack. Then we boil down the bones into bone broth and fry up the tail for a fatty delicious treat.
