It's so weird how Billy predicted the future in the section where discusses fan base in genres and how Smashing Pumpkins fans will continue to stay committed through the change of sound.
Also, how the fan base transcends looking or acting a certain way. I've known so many different types of people who are into Smashing Pumpkins. You just can not tell an SP fan by looking at them.
@@jeremybrown7470 I know people who only listen to Gish. They're missing out. When TSP did their Adore tour how many fans expected Billy to be screeching and screaming. Billy ruined Darcy’s life… she says she was abused in the band many arguments and stuff like that she also says she couldn’t listen to music after being kicked by the pumpkins. Billy has s h I t on her
@@art7885 I honestly believe Billy regarding D'Arcy. From what I've seen Jimmy backed him on this which says a lot cause of their past bad blood due to Billy being such a tyrant dick. I REALLY love the pre-Gish new wave stuff. Very Cure-y. If you haven’t heard it look it up. The Sun demo is prolly on here. The original Pumpkins had such a diverse sound: Metal, goth rock, psychedelic, shoegaze, acoustic ballads/ electronica eventually.
They were all over the place. And Billy has kept that progressive never stop experimenting passion. His work in the last 15 years has been all over the place. Sometimes only big fans like me appreciate it.
Cygnustsp I’m a massive fan going back 30yrs. One of the things i love about the pumpkins is their diversity of style and that they were always doing what others weren’t. But that doesn’t mean I have to like everything they do. I really can’t find anything on Cyr that i like, at all. Even vaguely. The music is obvious and middle of the road rock that everyone is doing, and to me that’s not the pumpkins. I’ll 100% listen to their next album just in case, and still love them regardless. @CorganIsBeast you do realize Kurt Cobain was a role model and influencer of many bands and a great songwriter. Yeah, not as talented as Billy or Layne Staley or Chris Cornell, but still: Respect.
instead of James and Darcy, if Billy had a real musician as his wingman... not someone he had to coax into being in a band, the pumpkins would have really been able to transcend into an all time great band. ValisX if you ask me... It's because of this dynamic between Billy and the other original members of the Pumpkins is what made them so great. This is just my opinion, but Nirvana can't hold a candle to the Smashing Pumpkins. Especially when you take into consideration that Kurt Cobain was actually a mediocre guitar player at best
Payge as much as I adore Kurt Cobain as one of the all-time great songwriters and soulful artists, he wasnt’ in the same league as Billy Corgan....especially for pure passion, focus, prolific output, musicianship, artistic vision, creativity, etc. There are millions of people who would totally fight me on that, but it’s the honest-to-God reality.
