Agreed. We should be getting some massive lore drops, though this does make some part of my brain itch... Has she already read what O'Hara had if Olvia didn't appear to come back with any? If not then what's about to happen to get us off Elbaph? Because I could see Luffy and the others being cool with adventuring Elbaph while she finally gets to read all the Poneglyphs, but that would make for a boring story to spend a month with them just wandering Elbaph. So does Robin get kidnapped, does Luffy, or does Elbaph just get destroyed by Loki or Luffy?
Here's a question. how the hell did Saul manage to read the Ohara books? They are made for human hands. Saul would barely be able to flip the pages, let alone read them.
@@hefesan Also, if he is not careful, he would very easily crush them like tissue paper. I suppose since humans do live there, maybe he has a human assistant helping him.
That's my question for Tekking hahaha why don't other giants read? Dorry and Brogy complained that they couldn't read the bounties, so poor Saul is reading Kinder Egg instructions for 20 years....
The way I interpreted the scene with Dory and Brogy learning their new bounties was that they can read, it's just that the writing was too small which is why they had the Straw Hats read it for them.
What if Luffy's group meets Saul first, while Robin's meet Vivi (and maybe Wapol)? Then you could have tension on one side with Vivi not trusting Robin while the other side has Saul telling them stories about her childhood on Ohara.
There is someone we last saw looking for Vivi after the Reverie, that same someone also knows Robin from Enies Lobby, whose dad knew Olvia and Saul on O'Hara, and who Franky also smashed his face in. Spandam. CP0 was already on Wano so it wouldn't be that weird, and Spandam showing up and being his weird self could be who kidnaps Robin like Nekomamushi said on Zou would happen. Could even get his father back some role in the WG.
More like a Dishonorable Discharge as his actions in saving Nico Robin could be seen as obstruction in the military operation. Also he let Nico Olvia escape.

Does Ohara count? Maybe, maybe not. But it kinda feels like one piece doesn't have education courses as we know them. More like trial by fire like how Chopper learned Medicine from Kureha but also ended up learning a lot on his own and how Franky is kinda similar too. And i think Law too. The smartest people in the series also usually end up being self taught
Well no Harjudin said his dream was to become the king of the giants during the tournament in dressrosa so he probably does want to become king either he is not yet of the age to become a king or he needs to peform some kind of grand deed to be seen as a king seeing as he wanted the Mera Mera fruit he probably wants to become seen as one off the strongest giants equal to his brother
I'm still trying to understand 1 thing about Hajrudin in Dressrosa. He asked "have you ever seen a giant with a logia before?" Has he, is it his brother or his father? I'm guessing brother, because I really want to find out the Mera Mera was the other "sun god" fruit that Ace had the luck to run into after missing out on Roger and Shanks plan to give Ace Rogers son the Nika fruit. Also be cool if the Mera Mera is actually the "father flame" to Vegapunks Mother Flame imitation. Also explains why Ace had an attack called Sun Flare.
About Elbafian knowledge, I think Oda will draw comparisons to Viking knowledge. In terms of medicine, the Vikings knew herbal medicine, utilizing local plants. They also used shrooms and other drugs to recieve visions from the gods, and to trigger the Berserker- state in battle. The giants could easily have treated Saul's burns with some kind of salve or ointment, though the scars are most likely permanent. In terms of literacy, the Vikings used runes that were carved into wooden sticks or large runestones. I'd asume the people of Elbaf use a local runic scripture, but I'm sure the Giant Warrior pirates can read the common tongue too, since they understand wanted- posters. In terms of history and mythology, the Vikings passed down their lore orally through stories, or "sagas". Most of these were written down by the Icelandic historian Snorri Sturlusson in the 13th century. I'm sure the giants love telling stories too. Maybe that's how Oda will reveal the full legend of the Sun God Nika.
Jaguar is his last name so it would be Dr Jaguar Also in case your curious 1 generation for giants would be 60 years because a human generation is 20 years
I prefer Professor Jaguar but I can see that Elbaf has a grand library which will be based on one of the 9 realms that being Vanaheim home of the Vanir which are gods associated with fertility, wisdom, & the ability to see the future
I mean, you just HAD to compare Saul to Clover and Kureha, the most prolific people in their respective fields, coming from islands that are basically known for excellence in these fields already.
perhaps the King of Elbaph needs to complete a task that is only possible with the legendary devil fruit Loki ate, and so they have not been able to crown a new king in these past 6 years
I am kinda conflicted on the point that Saul would have read all the saved Ohara books. Dorry and Brogy just said a few chapters ago that the newspaper is too small for them to read...so how is Saul supposed to read the old books that are probably even smaller. Not to mention how hard it must be to go through the pages of the books as a giant with his hands (potentially) in bandages.
Good question, I wonder if Saul ever came across any genius scientists who could make him a screen to magnify papers...🤔 Seriously I hadn't thought of that aspect just occured to me when I was typing.
"サウロ先生が" says the raw, so "Sauro sensei ga". There are 2 problems there. 1. が, and 2. choosing to translate 先生 as "Doctor". Let me elaborate on them: 1. By saying 先生が instead of just 先生, it can be taken as "Dr/Prof/Mr Saul" (サウロ先生 would've only allowed for this option, Saul-sensei) or as "Saul, the doctor/teacher/professor". While the meaning is similar enough, what each way of saying it implies differs drastically. Based on a quick research of the use of that final ga, I think the latter is inteded, as I've only seen used as the former when both options would be correct. And that's what leads me to... 2. Doctor is the least appropriate translation here, as it carries, for us readers, the connotation of high academic studies at a big institution. That's why everyone started with "Saul got a PhD." It sounds awkward, and it breaks immersion, so it's a bad translation. The word "Doctor" should be saved for actual Doctors when translating, as it carries too much baggage, and that baggage differs in different languages and even different countries of the same language. As for Teacher or Professor, they would've worked better, but I deem them inaccurate too, as to be a teacher or a professor you have to teach, and based on what we know about Elbafian giants, I don't see many of them pursuing life in Academia. So, in my professional opinion as a translator, and my amateur opinion as someone who doesn't speak Japanese, the appropriate translation would've been "Saul, the Scholar" or "The scholar Saul". It carries the intended meaning, it's an accurate translation for 先生, it doesn't break immersion, Saul has already been addressed as a scholar in Egghead, and it again tells you the story of how Saul studied what they recovered from Ohara w/o effort or mental gymnastics. BTW, this is solely because for some reason English readers can't be shown Japanese honorifics, like it's a crime or something. I personally would've left it as Saul-sensei. "It's Saul-sensei!! He's fallen and is not moving!!" PS. And checking the RAW, I believe *"Won't* get up" was also a mistranslation, for what I've seen, everything indicates that he can't move or at least isn't, but nothing points to him willingly staying down. But again, I don't properly speak Japanese, so I can be mistaken on this one, but that's why I said "and he's not moving" which is the most accurate translation I could make of 倒れて動かない after breaking down every word to check different potential meanings.
Sensei is a loaded word. In general I would go for _teacher_ if I don't have the context (as most of the time it's used like that), but you are right in that _scholar_ would make for a more "neutral" term. Here's a rough translation of the second definition of the word in weblio: "a word to respectfully refer to a teacher, master, doctor, legislator, or other learned person in a leadership position". Problem is, it can get _incredibly_ wide. Do consider that the way to refer to Oda by Japanese speakers is usually as Oda-sensei (in a sort of _master of his craft_ kind of way), and here not even scholar would work. 「倒れて動かない」is, without a shadow of a doubt: "fell down and it's not moving" (well, more like "fell down and doesn't move"). To say "it won't get up" I guess I would go like「倒れて起き上がれない」, because that "won't" is really doing the job of a "can't". I guess the most important part (other than the verb choice) is the conjugation: 動かない is negative, not potential negative. "Can't move", for example, would be 動けない (or something like 動くことができない, but that's a different story). Not sure if I follow what you said about the が, but I haven't read the raw scans.
@@Frikiman_H The complete phrase is 大変だ~~!! サウロ先生が!!! 倒れて動かない!!! There is no context to it, we were in the Great Eric with Brook giving Robin a haircut, and suddenly we jump onto this scene, and the chapter ends afterwards. I know "が" is usually used to sort of indicate the subject (no idea if it has other uses), and in this case it's added to say "It's Saul" and not just "Saul". But it also emphasizes the noun, so adding that "が" suggests me 先生 is not being used as a honorific (that could be translated as a title, like "サウロ先生" (Sauro-sensei) > "Dr. Saul"), but as a noun ("サウロ先生が" (Sauro sensei ga) > "The doctor Saul" / "Saul, the doctor"). We already agreed doctor is not the accurate translation, just using it to follow VIZ's example, plus it's both title and noun, so it works amazingly for the example.
@@AnyMEmdq Ah, alright, I see what you mean. Although I'm not sure if it would work quite like that. Honorifics in most cases can be thought of as suffixes: they modify the name, but they form part of the same grammatical unit when all is said and done. So the が (which would most definitely be the subject marker here) would be saying that it's "Saul-sensei" that fell down, and not any other person. In a way, here you can think of that が as a way to let the reader know that the sentence is not over, even though there's a pause (and some exclamation points): the subject has been declared, but no verb has followed yet. Something equivalent in English I guess would be "Saul has!!! Fallen down the stairs and won't move!!!", so a pause in the middle for emphasis. I don't think "sensei" could work as a noun here. Most of the time, when used like that, it would come in place of the actual name. There's also the fact that dropping the honorifics (what's known as 呼び捨て) is usually considered pretty impolite, specially when talking about someone with higher social standing than you have (often, even if they're not present, particularly when talking with other people of higher social standing than you). Taken together, I wouldn't say this would provide that much information about Saul's actual title (other than the fact that he's considered an expert in his field and has earned the respect of the people from Elbaph). Please do take all of this with a grain of salt though: I do know some Japanese, but I'm by no means fluent yet, there may be something very obvious I'm missing here.
@@Frikiman_H I VERY MUCH appreciate this!!! I did not consider it'd be dropping the honorific, so great point there (though I'd like to put as asterisk on Elbaf giants caring much for politeness or normally considering an academic as someone of higher social standing xDD).
I hope Saul is ok and its probably just Oda playing with us or the silhouette played a part, if it isnt I hope it has something to do with Spandam or his father Spandine who would know Saul from O'Hara and just lost his WG status. Spandam was also looking for Vivi, who is on the way to Elbaph right? Robin or Saul finally getting Spandine would be theraputic, and if ol red dog Akainu shows up even better.
4:48 i assumed saul was an orphan from elbaf traficked to the marines by mother carmel, she mentioned she gave them their first giant soldier so saul would have to be enlisted later and i dont think the world gvt would just ignore a bunch of non elbaf giants living in one of the four blues , if that was a thing there wouldn't be a need for mother carmel, they could just forcebly draft these world gvt affiliated giants .
What if Saul looks basically the same as the last time he saw Robin because he had the same idea as Robin to look as close as possible to the last time they saw each other so Robin could recognize him 😊
Honestly, if Luffy doesn’t free Loki, the only other person i’d want to do it is Usopp and maybe it could be a monkey’s paw type deal and that sets up their “battle”
Jaguar is the Giant that ran away from school and home as a youngin, then changed his life around due to him getting caught up in the evilness of the system for to long. #JaguarDWoke
Probably someone already connected this dots but In chapter 1054 Shanks said to Benn Beckman that they should go and “claim the one piece” and next time we saw them they were on Elbaf, that makes me think that he was there because there´s something related to find the One Piece there. So, there´s a strong possibility that either Saul or Loki (because Loki has his eyes covered for some reason) is the man marked by flames. Also it could be that he was the one who moved the poneglyph from Fishmen island to Elbaf
I like where you're going until the man marked by flames part, Kid or Shiryu said a WG agent and Elbaph isn't WG related. It's just unlikely, but also it would negate his whirlpools to be on land and easy to catch. I'm still on Hanafuda is Marked by flames who Ace had to burn, then is retired by the WG once their Warlord lost. There likely was a Road Poneglyph on Elbaph, but it was likely taken by Big Mom. Likely something else left by Joyboy too if Imu has his giant hat in Pangea Castle, implying Joyboy or Nika were giants too. Shanks mentioned he took so long on Elbaph because he had to spend time with old friends he thought were deceased, I don't think he meant Dorry and Broggy who Shanks likely did pass on Little Garden with Roger and on his own but that doesn't mean good friends, but maybe Loki and that Silhouette who could be any Roger crewmate or Shiki or someone else Shanks became friends with. I can't think of many people who would be Shanks old friend, and I also wouldn't be surprised if Shanks told loki to test Luffy like Barto just went through.
@@NeonRoger oh that´s right, soy it won´t be Loki or Saul. Either way the friends that Shanks met there has to be relevant in some way (because last chapter was the main focus of the conversation between Luffy and Loki) but it isn´t necessary that one of them will be the man marked by flames. After knowing Kuma´s story, I believe that Joyboy will be a buccaneer but that doesn’t mean he won´t have any connection to Elbaf, especially considering the books of the library of Ohara are right there.
@@joandamia4077 I have a ton of ideas on Elbaph, I'm actually really excited. And Joyboy as a Buccaneer makes sense, Oda has done great with perspectives but that hat looking giant sized could have been a mistake and it was just Buccaneer sized. Oda doesn't just throw in lines like Shanks staying for friends for no reason, so that will come back. I'm pretty sure we've seen members of Rogers crew along the entire journey from Erio/Woop Slap, to Crocus, to Rayleigh, to likely Millet Pine dressed like Elbaph and Seagull Guns a giant likely from Elbaph. Scopper should be somewhere, Taro looks like Law, Mr Momora looks like the Penguin guy from Laws Crew another possible son, Merry from Syrup looks like Bankuro, and can't forget about Momo being Odens son. I'm actually really curious when we meet the giant who fled Big Moms birthday in the anime, and when not if Big Mom returns. Carmel made her last deal Oda said she would twice in chapter 867, and the gasmask orphan was on likely God Valley 25 years later. In 867 Carmel also mentions Cipher Pol in that Linlin would be perfect for a "shield for the Celestial Dragons" if she was in Cipher Pol and being so strong, so the orphans becoming Cipher Pol after being sold lines up. They should be Holy Knights by now though, if still alive.
You know, I just thought of something, how can Saul be able to read those books? Because they’re all human sized, either Elbaf has some pretty great magnifying glasses, Vegapunk (Stella) helped to transcript the text, or Saul now has really terrible eyesight from having to read such tiny-from his perspective-words. Maybe that’s how Saul fell, because his eyes aren’t what they used to be. Also, on the subject of Gerd being a doctor. Is she really… you know, like a “Dr.” doctor, or more like a healer (i.e. a medicine woman)? Giving the Norse Viking motif of the Giants.
i love Saul but he does look like redhead neckbeard. He just needs white tennis socks with sandasls in Cargo shorts and a trenchcoat. Than he can greet Robin with "mlady"
No it was somewhere randomly on elbaph... Though what if he saw her through a telescope and passed out from being so emotionally overwhelmed from being able to see Robin again?
@crunchevo8974 exactly. Whether through a telescope or some other gizmo or technique, Saul is watching them at least that is where my mind immediately went to. I don't get why so many seem to think that Saul would all of a sudden be on his death bed when we saw him lounging in a forest with no care in the world back in 1114.

Doctor Jaguar Diesel, S.T.D. (it's a thing)
"A war-faring nation" is a fun turn of phrase, as though they are sailors on a sea of blood
Android shirt is 🔥.
Vegapunk actually may have said the name of the ancient kingdom in his message, but it wound up being in the part that got cut off.
Hey Tekking, Pewpiece just confirmed no chapter this week :(
Long ago, the four Blues and the new world lived together in harmony. Then everything changed when Elbaf attacked.
The opening gave me ICC Prof flashbacks, lol.
Robin or Saul finally getting Spandine would be theraputic, and if ol red dog Akainu shows up even better.
im convinced saul is the man marked by flames and thats why we didnt see his face
I bet the king of the giants has to prove himself in some way. Hajrudin did state that his goal is to become king.
Morning tekking
I hope Saul didn’t fall down some stairs before Robin meets up with him again. 😅
When Robin sees Saul again: Well, I better call saul!
Tekking, you already know that Hajrudin wanted to be King of the giants, simply because he said it in the Dressrosa Colesseum.
Considering the giants of Elbaph are a proud warrior tribe, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't choose their leader by bloodline but by strength.
Tekking I have faith in you. I think you could figure out astrophysics in a year.
I feel like if the Ohara Incident never happened Saul would have wound up as a Naval instructor
Barry's back!!
Only Dr … in Elbaf 💀 down goes Saul … Chopper to the rescue 🛟
Hiroshi Agasa is a professor in detective Conan he basically has a phd in puns
Oh no it's the revenge of Down D. Stairs :O
day 173 of asking for a video on Shanks' hot sister
Maybe Hajrudin *will* be king, but he feels like he needs to prove himself first and there's essentially a placeholder ruler like in Gondor in LotR?
The way this video started for a second I thought I was watching Futurama
Maybe Vegapunk taught him? Would be a cool connection.
Robin can turn into a giant to hug him.
Saul comes out: im saul and im good man 👍
I just realized Gerd and Big Mom maybe around the same age. 😂
Gurd is a combat medic
viking had their writing system called runes
Tekking: most couldn't read probably
What if Saul looks basically the same as the last time he saw Robin because he had the same idea as Robin to look as close as possible to the last time they saw each other so Robin could recognize him 😊
2:35 you rang
Honestly, if Luffy doesn’t free Loki, the only other person i’d want to do it is Usopp and maybe it could be a monkey’s paw type deal and that sets up their “battle”
Saul probably needed a giant magnifying glass to read those books because they were written by human sized hands right
Jaguar is the Giant that ran away from school and home as a youngin, then changed his life around due to him getting caught up in the evilness of the system for to long. #JaguarDWoke
My money is on Saul faints after finding out he's gonna see Robin soon
Plz make a video about the gigant animals in el elbaf, they appeared in strong world
You know, I just thought of something, how can Saul be able to read those books?
Wasn't the implication that Saul saw Shorthair-Robin and collapsed because of cuteness overload?
No it was somewhere randomly on elbaph... Though what if he saw her through a telescope and passed out from being so emotionally overwhelmed from being able to see Robin again?
@crunchevo8974 exactly. Whether through a telescope or some other gizmo or technique, Saul is watching them at least that is where my mind immediately went to. I don't get why so many seem to think that Saul would all of a sudden be on his death bed when we saw him lounging in a forest with no care in the world back in 1114.
We still don't know who Shanks was talking about when he said "met some old friends I thought were dead", right?
Any Plans on covering the new hxh chapters ?
Doctor Jag
Whats that? Need help with a history project on the lost island of Ohara? Well then, Better Call Saul!
He fell Down D. stairs
Nico robin is going to stay at Elbaph to study all the books. Lilith is staying too.
Maybe it's a Hamlet situation, and the king is an uncle or something
🎉
I wouldn’t be surprised if the one piece worlds perception on Elbaf giants is shaped by the world government
Also, is saul an ancient giant ? He looks like oars without the tusks
What if Saul found something out that makes him want to stop robinf from researching more.
