Thank you, your videos are amazing
Great video and demonstration of printing and finding the right settings. I like how you showed here the darkening of the shadows by increasing the filter grade. Thanks!
Thanks Hugo.
I like to cut the print to size saving cut offs for the testing. I also look for black on every print if possible and get it by using a clear but developed and fixed negative. I keep a chart beside the enlarger for the times and hights of the carrier to get my black for each film type. Then if my chart suggests 14 seconds I place a 2x8 strip on the easel and do 10,12,14,16,18 seconds. After developing and viewing I may do 13,15,17 seconds to check for my choice. I useally have plenty of cut offs to make all the tests I want. Keep records! I include 3 things in each folder the negatives a proof sheet and an 8x10 page with all the data I need to duplicate the print!David
Great record keeping! Good idea for the chart by the enlarger!
THANK YOU !!!!

Is it possible please to explain what you mean by grading? or link me to a video you did about it so I understand?
When I talk about grades I'm meaning grades of photo paper. I use multigrade paper and filters.
Dust is the enemy lol. It’s true! 😢
Cheers
Great video, what’s the pen you use exactly?
Thanks Jonathan. I use a propelling pencil. Pencils don't run.
So when you say grade, you mean you're using multi grade paper and then using, in this example, a 2.5 filter?
Yes, that's right.
Fantastic John, enjoying your book too
Thank you and special thanks for buying my book!
