    one thing to note is that the campaign and multiplayer versions of the XM25 are mechanically different, whereas the campaign version automatically detonates near enemies, the multiplayer version does, in fact, have the mechanic of selecting a range/point when aiming, and having the projectile explode 1m behind that range.

    The picatinny rails discrepancy is something very much a bi product of 3d modeling/game engine optimization limitations of the time this CoD came out.
    A problem comes up when making a visual detail that small and numerous on a 3d model that is seen up-close in-game. The number of polygons needed to make those rails look realistic would be considered unnecessarily bulky for game engines at the time. A common workaround would've been to use a normal map to "fake" the physical modeling, but because these models are seen up close most of the times, that was viable either. The common compromise was to model some of the rails physically, understanding it would be a a visual discrepancy, but would most likely be overlooked during gameplay.

    • @jonathanferguson1211
      @jonathanferguson1211 2 года назад +31

    • @stevencerqueira4142
      @stevencerqueira4142 2 года назад +23

      @@jonathanferguson1211 My pleasure! As with most things in 3D modeling nothing is a hard and fast rule, and it's entirely likely that the "polygon budget" for some weapons were larger depending on what they wanted to emphasize on that platform. Perhaps where an ACR needed more detail towards the rear, an AR style rifle or something more generic looking wouldn't constitute the extra polys to achieve an acceptable, (albeit subjective) level of accuracy.

    • @theblobconsumes4859
      @theblobconsumes4859 2 года назад +9

      While true, I think the reason that CoD specifically couldn't do it is the fact that its engine was outdated by the time it came out. It's the reasson why some other factors aren't up to the same standards as a fair few other FPS titles of the time.

      Plus the ton of weapons that have base attachments already on it (arguably one of the big positives of the game in terms of uniqueness and creativity for CoD at the time), it'd be neat to see what's actually more modern day or has more of a creative freedom approach.

    The in game depiction of the ACR's charging handle is correct(ish, I'll explain below), as is the example you've got. As the ACR's been thrown around between Magpul, Bushmaster, and Remington, it's seen some updates, such as improvements in the charging handle. The various ACR models have come with left sided flat, left sided slant, ambi flat, ambi slant, and folding charging handles. Now, Franklin Armory bought out Bushmaster, and intends to bring back the ACR, so it might get some more updates.
    MW2 and MW3's ACR is largely based off the Remington variant, with the front handguard being the key giveaway. However, Remington's ACRs largely were produced with flat, left hand charging handles. The ambidextrous slanted handle (as depicted in MW3) was a feature on some batches of some models, such as the ACR Enhanced..

      Side note, the PP-90M1 is the actual designation of the real counterpart to the MW3 PP-90M1. The in game model is a pretty faithful recreation of the gun when it's set up to take helical mags. It also can be fitted with a magazine well that uses the same attachment mechanism as the helical mags, and it's chambered in 9x19mm Luger.

    The USAS-12 is fully automatic and has very slow rate of fire. Just like you have said “for balancing reasons”.
    Fun fact, the enemy NPC can shoot that same gun in automatic with very high rate of fire. But when you pick it up, it only shoots very slow.
    Edit: The gun in question would increase the ROF when the enemy NPC has it while blind firing.

    The thing about the XM25, and the parts of the OICW/XM8 that it's based on, is that it isn't a grenade launcher. It's a direct-fire weapon, in essence a 25mm cannon(or in the case of the OICW, 20mm). A grenade launcher is an indirect-fire weapon, although you can of course fire it straight into a target, particularly at closer ranges. The XM25 is a "Counter Defilade Target Engagement System", firing directly at(or past/over) in a flat trajectory.

    The XM-25 does require the user in game to set the distance it air fuses at. When aiming down sights you push down on the right stick at some object to set your distance, and then aim elsewhere to get it to explode at the same distance it was set. You can see 2 sets of numbers when aiming down the scope of the XM-25, one that shows the distance of the object you're looking at, and the other is the distance you've set it to explode at.

    I believe that the 'one handed pistol shooting' is because of the commando perk in the game, which adds the second hand holding a knife underneath and supporting the first; without the commando perk the other hand simply isn't modelled so there doesn't need to be two animation sets made for each pistol.

    B&T is actually making a version of the FMG9 called the BWC (Because we can). It's a folding chassis that takes a Sig P320 fire control unit. That front nub in the mw3 version is being used as a grip, but is actually a hand stop. The magazine cannot fit flush into the magwell when folded, so it must be manually seated after unfolding.
