    Mark 3:20-35 Sermon Notes
    Intro - Devil vs. Jesus
The Context - Liar, Lunatic or Lord
Mark 3:21-22 - 21 And when his family heard it, they went out to seize him, for they were saying, “He is out of his mind.” (Lunatic) 22 And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” (Liar) and “by the prince of demons he casts out the demons.”
“I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic-on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg-or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronising nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.” (“The Shocking Alternative” Mere Christianity, CS Lewis)
Jesus - Liar - in with the Father of Lies, Satan, Devil.
Mark 3:22 - 22 And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “by the prince of demons he casts out the demons.”
    Jesus Challenges that accusation
Mark 3:27 - But no one can enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. Then indeed he may plunder his house.
Parable - Satan, a War Lord, a castle with the Human Race as Prisoners.

But the End of the Life of Jesus? - His Cross
Because of His Cross and Resurrection, Jesus Christ has forever changed what it means to defeat evil.
    Say this another way -
When someone wrongs a person what does that person want to do? They want to hurt them back. What does that mean? It means they are still in under the bondage of the Evil One.
