I cooked it, made a few changes and it turned out very good. The cooking time in my pressure cooker was 55 minutes in case anybody is interested. The meat was super flavorful after marinading all night and after cooking extremely tender. Thanks for the recipe. Very nice.
I just made this recipe over the weekend and it turned out SOOO delicious. Thank you for sharing. We live in Michigan and there is NO WHERE to get great Cuban food. My husband has been requesting this for far too long and it was worth the effort for sure.
Made To Order yum! Hopefully you share that croqueta recipe soon!! :) thank you for your amazing recetas! My son always watches me with me too! ♥️ you’re the best!
If you go to Cuba I guarantee you you won't be eating any vaca frita. Cubans do not even know what it is anymore since eating cow meat is prohibited because all of it is destined to tourists.
Ropa Vieja as well as many of your recipes have been a huge hit in my home! Looking forward to trying the Vaca Frita. I am also currently in need of some new/ good quality pots and pans and I was curious to know which ones you use. Thank you in advance 🙂
Thanks for watching! ... Ok so for pots and pans... I use so many different ones for different purposes. I'm actually thinking of making a video on it lol. Depending on the type of cook that you are depends on which pots I'd recommend that you get. If you're seasoned cook but you want something that will sear your meats but easy to clean, def go with a hard adonized line. My personal fave is Calphalon. Macy's has their sets on sale all of time. It's a great all-round set. I use these religiously in my house. Stainless Steel: Great for cooking, conducts heat like a dream but a little more high maintenance because of the cleaning afterwards. And if you're a OCD nut like me, then you also have to polish them after every couple of uses. Stainless steel gives you the best heat control but can be confusing at first since you have to get to know your stove. When shopping for stainless steel I highly recommend spending the extra $$ on a Tri-Ply set. It's a heavy pot but cooks like a dream. These sets are pricey but last forever. Macy's and Bed Bath & Beyond also has them on sale all of the time. I film with these all of the time because of how bright they are and the food pops on them. Calphalon, All-Clad, and Bialetti all make good lines of these. Cast Iron: These are my special babies lol. More of a collector's item that I plan on passing down to my future kids and grandkids. I get the most questions about these pots since they are my colorful ones (It's the red dutch oven that I feature and the blue braiser). These guys are VERY HIGH MAINTENANCE! But they become a family heirloom since they cook better as the years pass. You can get affordable cast irons from brands like Lodge and Martha Stewart. They also get really PRICEY if you go with brands like Le Creuset and Staub. Depending on the cook, it's great as a special gift. I wouldn't recommend getting a full set of these. It's more like one offs here and there. A statement piece lol Calderos: A staple in all Hispanic homes. I ADORE these. I use them to keep the culture alive. They're aluminum pots. They aren't the best at conducting heat evenly but they still cook like a dream. Our ancestors have been using them for ages. They make moro and sancocho like nobody's business. I have a set of these in different sizes that I use to film, make rice, and for when I'm having a lot of people over. I like the brands: IMUSA and Aramco. Funny enough these guys can get pricey too depending on where you get them and the size. I usually get these in mom and pop stores in Brooklyn lol I hope this helps!
Chef Zee Cooks Thank you so much this is very helpful! I'm a stay-at-home mom of 2 soon-to-be 3 babies. I have wonderful husband that's in the Navy and he loves when I make traditional Hispanic meals. I cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner 6 days a week and my Teflon pots seem to just be falling apart. The breakdown you gave me is greatly appreciated. I would love to see a video of you showing off your pots, pans, and utensils. Explaining which foods cooks better and what, and maintenance of the pots. Your kitchen always looks extremely clean and your pots are flawless every time so you're definitely doing something right 👍 Looking forward to your upcoming videos and once again thank you 🙂
Hola Chef Zee. TBH I can't get away from your channel. I have tried a few of your recipes and they come out slamming! I have a very special request...will it be possible for you to do a video on cooking with pressure cookers? Soy Dominicano y mi familia ENTERITA le tiene terror a las ollas de presion. They always tell me not to use them because the meat will disintegrate. But, I feel that using them can save so much time. Just an idea for a video :-)
I haven't made it but did research and they say 30 to 60 minutes in a pressure cooker depending on the type of meat and thickness. 45 min is a good starting. I use brisket and it's usually thicker than Flank steak. Good luck.
que muchacha tan bella y llena de carizma y todo eso te lo dice alguien que puede ser tu padre dios te bendiga hija ya me suscribe son muy buenos tus videos besos y abrazos
Help! All the Supermarkets in my area (Walmart & Kroger) dont have Brisket or Flank STeak. Can you or anyone on the comment section please tell me what are some alternatives for Brisket & Flank Steak? 2 Alternatives just in case my luck is worse than I thought. Thanks in advance!!

Can you use chicken instead?
Yes of course! If you us Chicken, It will cook in half of the time. You also won't need to use as much oil to crisp them up in the end :)
Can you make this in an insta pot like ropa vieja?
Just to confirm, it should be at a rolling boil for 2-3 hours?
It looks delicious n I'm sure it is, i fry it first also but the look is different, not reddish at all.... thank you
