If you're on your own, don't balance your phone in a tree, when you stack it and can't call for help..
12: Get Mike Boyd to help you :D
13 Don't watch crash or fail vidios unless you like psyching your self out of success.
14 Once you have mastered the specific skill DO watch fail videos of that specific skill to absolutely cement the skill by knowing what's right and wrong.
@@jd4000 to watch your fails can help you to understand what u are doing wrong
There is not enough Cathro on RUclips.
I just went looking to see what he was up to, stoked to find that he's doing stuff for pinkbike!
What a throwback to Mike's DH lesson, so good! It's hilarious to me that the process of learning new motor skills is always completely overlooked in how-to content. This is so thoroughly covered and well presented. Well done guys!
Ah yes. Mike Boyd on pink bike! Stoked af.
Right! So cool that he agreed to come along.
Same! Love watching mike's videos always inspires me to try learning something new, just wish I had his sticking power 😂

Anything with cathro has got to be good
Love how Ben's brain works! Analytical, bringing it to the next level. Addressing my Strava friends, etc... breaking it all down.
Really talk well in this big man and it's the perfect balance of seriousness and banter. Keeping so grounded and explaining things for us mere mortals is mega and gives me hope I can improve more and more and have the patience to get there. Thankyou Ben and pinkbike really stoked to watch the upcoming content 🥳👌👌👌👌🙌🥰
I’m returning to mountain biking after over a decade of only road riding…this entire series has been awesome! Ben is great at breaking things down into easy to understand steps. I’m making huge improvements in just a few months!! Thanks very much!!
Awesome video Ben!! First Henry and now Ben, Pinkbike is making moves!!!!!! So stoked to see you on here Ben!
Cathro, ow boy soo happy your able to expand your coaching skills to a wider audience. I've been amazed by your progress through your RUclips content and this is gonna be another special segment to it. Well done man!!!

Love the honesty! Good work on the vid y’all!
Well done Ben and the pinkbike team, so well put together
So stoked for this series
this is gonna be an awesome series cant wait for the next one
you guys done such a good job with this video
This was a cool episode. I remember in the 7th grade I tried to learn to snowboard and hated it, and thought none of the coaches were saying the right things. It was frustrating, exhausting, and felt like failure. That same summer I learned to skateboard/longboard (mostly on flat ground, but still learned how to turn with my legs), and I just watched tons of snowboarding movies, thought about how boarding was gonna feel, etc., and the VERY FIRST day of my second season it was just about easier than walking. All done by mental connection, not ruminating on things like "point your front arm where you want to go" or "shoulders over knees over ankles" thins. Granted, I was already pretty athletic due to other sports so the "athletic position" was already easy, but the progress that your brain can make without much physical practice is pretty crazy.
This is wholesome and helpful. Top work Mr Cathro & co!
Oh I needed this soooo much! Thanks for the knowledge. It opened some boxes in my head :-D
Superb! Looking forward to these
Well done Mr Cathro. Entertaining as ever. I'll be trying these in the kitchen until the downstairs neighbours call the feds 📞😂.
Not been out to cb for years!
you gotta get out
Such a great Video , hope Mike is up coming videos , you two work great together, funny as but super informative
Amaaaazing video, so comprehensive! Superbly presented! Big up from Brazil here!
Really cool vid 👌. Looking forward to the rest!
love this content!!!!! keep it up ben!!
Very Well Explained. Loved your Videos Man!
there was this one kid once who wheelied across the entire car park to a bike wash station. It made me so annoyed that I swore to learn to wheelie no matter what.
Took me almost a year of failing, but now I can finally annoy my mates.
Awesome 👌🙌 I'm rubbish at wheelies and currently practicing lots. Hope to get good in time 😅💪
big love for cathro on this series, really good stuff
Great learn how to learn video and very well explained! :D
Awesome boys! Thanks for motivating to go out there riding right away!
Sick at home, Stumpjumper in the garage screaming my name, no ride today... And now your vid cheered me up hard. So funny, entertaining and informative. Love that fistbump, lol. Big thanks!
One of the best skills videos in a long long time!
Yes! Super stoked on this. 🙌🏻
Great video, thanks for the motivation!
great video and great to see professor Ben in this series. and finally someone who's over 190cm. hopefully, there will be few tips for us tall-ish riders. keep em coming!
Great video! So much good content.
This video is a masterpiece. The bike is just an entertaining example of great tips for learning any skill in life 😀
Great advice, presented in a fun, easily digestible manner, that you can apply to learning all sorts of physical skills, not just biking.
so cool thanks a lot and keep them coming
cheers
brooo that was so suprising!! I didn't expect Mike Boyd to be on here xD
Great video lad, got me motivated 👍
Amazing, thank you 🙏
Fantastic advice for learning pretty much anything! 👏🏾
Really really well done mate! Embrace mate, embrace 🤘🏻
Just what I need nearly 2 weeks after putting my face into the ground taking a jump (and a concussion) that's way above my paygrade. Gonna take some steps back and re-evaluate my approach... :)
Love this series 😁🤟
Excellent video, thank you.
Boyd and Cathro! Love it
That was worth the wait!
This is awesome!
This is a good start to the series. I think the step that I have failed at is #2, make a plan. For example, a few years ago, I wanted to learn how to manual. I took an afternoon and tried for 3-4 hours and wore myself out mentally and physically. I never went back and tried again. If I set a plan to practice 15 minutes a day, I think I can get it, and maybe within the 3-4 hours of total time I have tried in my life. I suppose I may want to also "Break the skill down" and make a wooden manual practice stand.
This is going to be a great series!
Fingers crossed! 🤞
Ben is the best... such a great video
THIS IS THE "TUTORIALS OF ALL MTB TUTORIALS" 🤘👌 good job Ben!
Loved that, and looking forward to the "make peace with sucking" sticker!
YES!! Please! xD
Or a "Sucking is gid" t-shirt :D
Everything about this rocks
These videos are ace!
Great series
Amazing content
Ben x Mike - Yaaaaaas!!
My new favorite biking channel.
You are amazing man!
Very cool video!
waaaa i love it !!!!! tkanks a lot from beginner
Looking forward to the perfect bike setup 👍
Great video !
I'm freaking pumped!
Excited for cornering!
Weirdly I found your RUclips @Ben Cathro because i watched you with @Mike Boyd on his channel all those years ago!
Great video! Looking forward to the next..
Excellent video, I think I read somewhere that "fun" was the reward of learning. So having fun or "being playful" while learning can go a long way I think
awesome vid! For the series though ... I'd really like to have a breakdown on how riders use their (knees) legs to control, turn the bike, off camber, "turn with the rear", etc. Watching World cups and even your ghost camera ... Every time top riders use their knees really differently from the "Group B" (which is not like that group are bad riders at all) and yet NO ONE has even done a video on this skill ... god knows how many times I've put this comment in GMBN videos and numeros other youtubers without a response. Hope you do something on it
Really good stuff prof
Really good video
Such a cool series 👀😍
Great episode. I’ve been trying hard, but can’t quite master making the blue lightning bolts come out of my eyes, like in the intro clips.
More Boyd please! Maybe he could give some tutorials on some bike tricks or just keep learning
Your new series link came up on my Google news link. I'm going to start right from the start. 41 year old overweight northern male , wish me luck 🙏
15:05 So true. Many times at a bike park someone that has just clear a gap will then help the next person try and clear that new gap.
Thanks for this
Great video
As an educational psychologist I fully endorse everything stated in this video! Excellent video and tips.
Great!! Thanks for cool 17:50!!
This was awesome 😃👍
