As a hobby grape grower, I considered it but the cost /benefit really wasn’t there for me. I’m glad to program exists, as it’s a great alternative to the somm program, which seems rife with dishonesty and unsavory characters.

Thank you for this helpful information and for all your content. I'm planning on doing Level 4 here in NYC, and I'd like to combine it with wine travel so that I could get a more hands-on approach to what I'm studying, a sort of experiential learning. Would you recommend I do that before the Wines of the World D3 section?

Wow, John, Kudos. Next stop: MW.
When I first became interested in wine (more than 45 years ago) I ran monthly tastings for friends and colleagues and went deep into the subject. One of the wine merchants I used for the tastings was going through the WSET programme and he gave me all the past papers he was using to revise. I couldn't actually sit the exams for real because in those days one had to work in the trade to be eligible. With a bit of effort I managed passes at certificate and advanced certificate level (these are now, I think, termed levels one and two). They were exclusively theory and, therefore, quite easy to cram for. However, when it came to Diploma level, there was a massive step up in difficulty, with blind tastings and so on. At this point I got my coat and left the building. I have, therefore, some idea of the magnitude of your achievement. Also, I did my MBA whilst working full-time so I understand how difficult it is just to find the time: not much availability for friends, family or any kind of social life.
I really enjoyed this video. Thanks.

Thanks very much, Steven! Much appreciated. It definitely took a lot of dedication, but I’m very glad I did it. Learned so much along the way. They do have an industry work requirement for the MW, so I’ll have to look into that a bit. Very happy with the DipWSET though. Very glad you enjoyed the video!

Thanks for putting out this this video. I will be starting my d3 tomorrow and will be sitting my d3 exam in Oct of this year. I found the examiners’ reports to be particularly helpful along with the essay questions in my quizzes( I am doing it online). The 90 minute and 60 minute exam times for d1 and 2 weren’t too bad at all as I was done with d1 in 60 minutes and went back to add a few more comments took me a total of about 70 minutes(when I walked out of the exam room I wasn’t really confident about whether or not I had passed the exam), I was able to finish d2 in about 45 minutes. So far, I have found the online quizzes(particularly the written ones), discussions and and examiners’ reports(some are repeats or very similar to the written qs from the online quizzes to be extremely helpful.
