I found an almost 2 year old german shepherd this past weekend at a local shelter. Skinny, scared, needs lots of work. I adopted him on the spot. I couldn't leave without him. He has wonderful potential and we pick him up this Friday. Can't wait!!!!
We have had Shepherds since the 70's, no better family member, you are a blessing, thank you sooo much for your love, time and dedication to this wonderous Breed.
I have a Westside Shepherd, he is the best dog! I cant imagine not having him in my life. Thanks to all of you at Westside, you made a huge difference in quite a few lives, by just saving Kaiser. Not a day goes by that I dont think of you guys, and Kaiser still has his Westside tag on his collar! God bless all of you!
The folks at WGSR are the best. I adopted my GS from there and couldn't be happier with them. In fact, about 3 years after I adopted Chloe, I brought her back for the first time to see the new place. I hadn't even parked my car and unbuckled my seat belt when a volunteer ran outside the front door at me asking "Is that Chloe!!!???" So great.
Several years ago, my family adopted a German Shepherd/Chow-Chow mix, named Jake. He was neglected by a family who would leave him chained outside in the yard to a tree, and he had no shelter from weather conditions. I'm happy that we were able to adopt him. He's like a fluffy lion, but with a Shepherd face. ^-^ He is the guard dog of the home, and he is intelligent, calm, and patient. It's hard to imagine who would neglect such amazing dogs. P.S. That German Shepherd, Maxwell, was gorgeous.
I knew I'd get emotional watching this ugh! These people are amazing. I could never volunteer, too much heartbreak and I'd want to take them all home. I just donate and sign various petitions for different causes. So glad Wigs did this short, to hopefully raise awareness and teach people to be kind and have respect for animals. On a lighter note the cats interaction was too cute!
My youngest dog Faith came from here. She is a beautiful Belgian/German Shepherd mix (all black long hair). She was in LA County shelter, and I am sure if not for WSGSR she'd have been put down.
I found my dog roaming homeless on an old army base. So happy that people are helping dogs find loving homes. My only plea is that we extend this kindness to all animals. I sometimes wonder why we pour so much love to save dogs and cats and yet pigs, cows and sheep are slaughtered mercilessly by the billions for food. Our kindness towards animals will be complete when we extend the same consideration to all of them. All people who love animals should take a vow that they will never eat them.
I never questioned the dogs they have helped. I am questioning not coming clean with the general public and letting them know why their funding was pulled. Foundations don't just pull it to be cruel, there had to be a good reason for it. All reputable rescues do home checks & I know because I have adopted dogs from them. Not doing a home visit on you, you are probably a volunteer for that organization! Your comment screams that you involved with Westside or the other rescues mentioned above!
Damn, my family awlays had a german shepard in it, after watching this video im really thinking about jumping in my car and driving 200km to see mine... Keep up the good work!
i appreciate what these loving souls are doing and have loved and embraced sheps of all kinds the last 6 or so decades. have worked with other rescue organizations and with animals in many (just about every) capacity. have also thousands of dogs, the loves of my life. that said, having explored the bigger picture, it's the WILD dogs that are urgently in need of help and every domesticated dog is an unseen threat to their survival so i have refrained and no longer live with them. tempting though.
Lynne, there are other GS rescues that take some bad cases themselves so to say Westside is the only one taking on these dog is not true. What upsets me is the fact that Robin did not have a back-up if the funding was pulled. You have to prepare for every unexpected thing to happen and not just plea to the public for your mistakes and expect for them to bail you out. In the end the ones that suffer are the dogs and it is not their fault for poor decisions made by the rescue.
Thanks for making it so clear to us all that you jump to conclusions and make grand assumptions that are totally untrue. I am not a volunteer for any organization, nor involved with Westside. I haven't visited their shelter, although I do visit the website My old dog died recently and I'm thinking of adopting from them. Incidentally if you think Amanda, Lange and Friends of Animals are not reputable, that would really indicate that your already dubious credibility is practically non existent.
It's true for domesticated animals. Most domesticated dog or cat breeds would go instinct if not for human interference in keeping them alive. They are simply not breed for the wild. So yes, in regards to domesticated animals they do belong indoors. As far as zoos...I ascribe to the Indian way of thinking...if it kills a human, put it in a zoo versus putting it down. If it's minding its own business, leave it alone.
I am sorry that Westside is having financial issues but it seems to me that there is a reason for why the other foundation pulled their funding. Foundations just do not pull their funding out because of a small issues. And the fact that Westside is not telling people the truth on why they pulled their funding is huge red flag to the general public and possible future donors. They do not do home checks which is another red flag. Your a rescue not a shelter & have no excuses to not do them.
how can peoples have done that to the babies. Look at them eyes. How cant you be so cruel to treat them and abandoned them. I wish whoever did to that dog with the heavy chains got karma real soon.
Great work Robin doing, the abuse to animals is so cruel and unkind and people should be told, but sometimes I hate hearing these stories, I cry every single time even though I knew what I was in for . Definatley time to adopt another dog.........on a lighter note when the puppy bit the cat on it's rump I couldn't stop laughing.
She took her children, she said, to Jack in the Box and saw an article about a lab being euthanized and decided that something had to be done to save dogs from this horrible fate. While I admire her dedication to german shepherds, the obvious "elephant" in this room is that J in the B is responsible for killing billions of animals every year (cows, chickens etc) solely for profit. We go to these places, feed our kids their hamburgers, and freak out when a lab is euthanized. Weird consciousness.
i love this story we def need to respect animals more we keep killing them and harming them and there are already so many extinct animals and some that are close to becoming extinct
Guys please adopte the dogs&cats from kill sheltar like green wood coz this dogs n cats got 72 hrs so pls adopte from kill shelter n don't adopte from no kill shelter coz they r safe but in kill shelter they aren't
Per Friends of Animals website states they do home inspections & since you believe everything is true on it,you should probably believe this one! So your credibility is quite shaky already. I have been to both locations for Westside and know what the dogs went through underneath the 10 freeway location it was horrible for them. The fact that you have not even been to their locations says you know nothing about them. And I am sure you believe everything they post on their website is true too.
did she say that it was because you were mexican? maybe it was your attitude, im happy they dont give the dogs just to anyone, dog fighting does excist. maybe try to explain to her why you would be a good dog owner. if shes gonna give away dogs you have to respect her concern who the owner is gonna be. u sound like one of those victims that scream racism left and right when u dont get what u want.
I volunteered there and a lot of those people treat human beings like garbage. Go look up the yelp reviews they are very rude to some people and don't need to be and unprofessional. And Robin is a biatch.
well let's eliminate the racism thing and concentrate on the dog fighting allegation... what's her reason for thinking he's a dog fighter? can u think of a valid reason? other than her instincts from meeting someone? based upon what? what does a dog fighter look like? sound like? etc...
They themselves talk about their initial primitive location, THEY WERE STILL SAVING LIVES, SO WHAT'S BETTER, DOGS GETTING A CHANCE OR BEING EUTHANIZED? Their new facility looks beautiful. I hope with all my heart they can keep it going. They save many lives. I do know people who have rescued from them and are happy. I'll ask you again..WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO SAVE DOGS LIVES? AND WHAT'S THIS RIDICULOUS SMEAR ATTEMPT REALLY ALL ABOUT? IT'S VERY OBVIOUS THAT THE PROBLEM LIES WITH YOU, NOT THEM.
Unless YOU know why they actually lost their funding, I find it highly irresponsible to throw doubt on an organization and people who have done so much to help these animals!!! They are loving and dedicated and what they have done for so many wonderful dogs who would have lost their lives is beyond reproach!! What have you done??? Personally, I've had dogs from Friends of Animals, Amanda and Lange Foundations, all great animal rescues, NEVER ONCE HAS ANYONE DONE A HOME CHECK ON ME!! NOT ONCE!!
I found an almost 2 year old german shepherd this past weekend at a local shelter. Skinny, scared, needs lots of work. I adopted him on the spot. I couldn't leave without him. He has wonderful potential and we pick him up this Friday. Can't wait!!!!
i want to ask. what was your total cost? for shots and licensing etc..? adoption fees.. al that/
Wow I'm so thankful that there are people like you who care for these dogs
We have had Shepherds since the 70's, no better family member, you are a blessing, thank you sooo much for your love, time and dedication to this wonderous Breed.
German Shepards are amazing, with beautiful spirits! Very dedicated, just like you, Robin. Thank you!

I love this place; I got my forever best friend from here over 2 years ago.
We found our dog thru Westside. She is THE most wonderful dog. Love westside shepherd rescue.

I love the work they are doing. I wish I could help every shelter all at once.
Great to see people love animals as much as people!
Thank you may god bless you
Real angels. Thank you.

Admirable work, Robin.
that puppy bum bite i nearly fell off my chair giggling

Absolutely beautiful.
Amazing Work, and what inspiring women. Donation just made. Good luck, Chin up. And thankyou x

Adorable. .work...
This is a great story;) I hope they get the help they need. I wish I could help.
story well told, thank you

I WOULD LOVE TO ADOPT ONE!

I agree
Where exactly did Lynne say they were the only ones taking on those dogs???
Do tell where you read that.
I think they just posted it maybe?
the wigs real name changed? o.o

Robin= Brittani Louise Taylor in 30-40 years...her voice and personality reminds me of how caring she is...^_^

I wanna adopt a German Shepard but I'm in Guam USA
how can peoples have done that to the babies. Look at them eyes. How cant you be so cruel to treat them and abandoned them. I wish whoever did to that dog with the heavy chains got karma real soon.
Why did Wigs change the name from Wigs Real, To Wigs Unscripted ?
Not really, cats that live strictly indoors live longer than outdoor cats on average. Any vet will tell you this.
Great work Robin doing, the abuse to animals is so cruel and unkind and people should be told, but sometimes I hate hearing these stories, I cry every single time even though I knew what I was in for . I tried adopting and she said no because she said she didn't want them to go into dog fighting
She thinks I'm a dog fighter because I'm Mexican
did she say that it was because you were mexican?
