  • Only one week in and already the best watch of 2021 is here.
Vianney Halters Deep Space Resonance Prototype Watch. Triple axis tourbillon watch with dual balance and lever escapements. Relying on the Resonance phenomena to create a more stable and accurate watch.
Vianney Halter creates super luxury watches, the peak of haute horology. With this amazing luxury watch, I don't think any of the general brands such as Rolex can compete.
I would love to hear what your thoughts on the watch are?

Just wondering... is there any empirical evidence of the resonance compensating beat errors that would have occured due to external shock? I mean... i get the theory... one balance wheel makes a beat error but because there is another oscillating object fixed to the same bridge, they synchronize each other again. But what external influence males just one balance wheel fall out of beat? Should it not affect both anyway? And this would also mean that the "beat error" would occur in both balance wheels... am i jist thinking wrong or have i just debunked all double and quadroupple tourbillon watches? xD i dont think so but can anyone tell me the reason why im wrong or where my thoughts skip a beat?

"Should it not affect both anyway?" - Yes, but I would highly doubt they would be affected the same.
If the watch suffers a shock and the two balance wheels are oscillating in opposite directions at the time, what happens? Does the error that would of occurred now get cancelled out?

@@DeanDK yes, but should it not be the point of a double balance that they swing unisono? As i understand it is that they synchronize, which should imply that they swing in the same direction, and external shock should also affect every watchpart... for me the argument of the shock compensation only makes sense if the balance wheels are not in the same position, for the same reason a tourbillion exists

Maybe if you left it resting for a while they will swing in unison. I would think that if a watch is worn under normal circumstances it would be constantly out of sync while they will be both try to compensate any beat error.
Even the friction in both mechanisms are opposite in any one time. Watchmakers adjust watches in different positions. look at Vianney’s watch one balance wheel and it’s mechanism are in the up position and the other half is in the down position at the same time.
Each side will have varying degrees of friction at any one point in time. Each part will be affected differently and so it’s balance wheel.

@@DeanDK thanks, with these things pointed out, the whole mechanism makes a lot more sense to me. Anyway, this watch is stunning and not only the mechanism but the whole architecture blows my mind. Also great video :)
