I do appreciate that while they made Agatha more human by showing she’s got vulnerabilities, she’s still very much an asshole and a serial killer. Like, I’m glad they didn’t go full redemption, she just has this one person that she cares about now (besides Rio).
I think even though Billy made the Road "real" and influenced its contents a lot (through what he knew of the legends), the Road itself became like an independent pocket universe with its set rules and power. So he wasn't Actively micromanaging everything, but simply created the "opportunity" for it all to exist. One thing that pops to mind is the whole Evanora Harkness scene, where she does pop up and even she is like "you must finish the Witches Road". And in a way, every coven member Did get what they wanted (even though 2 witches died in the process after they "won" their trials). But the prize isnt at the end, but on the journey itself (in a wizard of oz kind of way)
It's been heavily implied in interviews that Rio is that baby's daddy (edit: Jac Schaeffer said that the process for casting Nicky included the question "does this kid look like Aubrey Plaza?") and if I were ghost Agatha, I too would haunt the boy who knows how to get new bodies for dead people
The finale really had me at my heartstrings. Agatha’s relationship with Nicholas reminded me so much of mine with my mother. The revelation that the Ballad of the Witches’ Road being originally created by Agatha and Nicholas as both a con method and their respective lullaby was surprisedly ingenious and sweet. It really broke my heart when Rio came for him, and Agatha descended into her innermost evil as a way to avoid coping and refusing to face him in the afterlife as she felt so much guilt. I do agree with Billy that Nicholas would’ve forgiven her. While I understand Billy’s guilty conscience for creating the Witches’ Road, it wasn’t really in vain. Sharon was reunited with her deceased husband, Alice finally broke her family’s curse, Lilia finally made peace with herself, Jen survived and was freed from her bonds, Rio got her bodies as well as her ex’s body, and Agatha finally took the first steps as she confronted her past. She may not be alive, but she can still help Billy find Tommy and be his guide until she feels ready to move on and be with Nicholas. Billy made the right choice to close the Witches’ Road, and it was kind of him to honor their fallen coven members. I have loved this series and watching your reactions to it. Great reaction to you both watching these week by week and this finale really landed which had me worried with these Disney+ shows but overall the show thoroughly surprised me loved that twist with Agatha never being on the witches road and over the decades just tricking the witches and that reaction to ghost Agatha LMAO oh she dead
