I think there's a new mech that uses a katana and can go invisible (saw a glimpse of it in some videos), but not sure what are its other abilities as it doesn't seem like there are videos that specifically talks about it.
I love mecha design and wargame design. Studying history and weapons platforms (vehicles) will give you great understanding of why AFVs are designed the way they are. It also adds to your visual database library to draw from. Mechanical design helps a lot. Also getting conceptual ideas from other mecha designers. I like to study military history in order to understand why armored warfare operates the way it does. Something you'll want to decide at first is what side of the realism spectrum you want to design your world in. 1. Rule of Cool: Fantasy fun. Because it is cool it therefore works, not sure how but it does. 2. Realistic: You're going for a more believable mecha design. IE You don't have to explain everything but just enough to make it believable. 3. Hardcore: You're going for a 1 to 1 translation of mecha design and armored combat. If you love mecha design and world building just start. Don't wait. It's a lot of fun.
Glad to see another smc player here hahahha currently probably the only best comparison we have to an online live service br/ other game modes mecha game. And I know AC had multiplayer but those are 1v1 duels not the same as what this is going for.
@AGleeBustHard69 yeah, although I just don't like to show my presence, it can be quite annoying talking about a game like mecha break and most of the comments are just saying SMC
@@serco258 True over comparison can hurt perception too for both the devs and other potential players since it becomes less of constructive criticism and more like we want the exact same game which we don't we just want a good multiplayer and if possible also single player mecha games with hopefully enough of both pve and pvp mixed into it. Which makes SMC good but this should still be it's own game for starters it is already a much more faster game with more emphasis on mecha play differences unlike SMC that blends pilot and mecha similar to titanfall so this might actually end up being closer to gundam evolution in terms of genre a hero shooter with mechs but in 3rd person this time.
@AGleeBustHard69 well said Personally speaking I would love lots of variety with my mecha games(or media in general, like some featuring super robots, and some featuring real robots, some being more boost heavy, some being more tactical/positioning, and some being too real and clunky (for better or for worse) I saw lots of people saying that fromsoft should just make this game or that game (particularly gundam games), because they are the only one making "the good ones". While completely ignoring the 20 other games that are just not in their cup of tea, I personally believe that the ac series is not the only good mecha games in the market, and people are a little bit close minded on their picks and I don't blame them, if something is not for them, then cool, but trying to compare 2 different genres/style of a mecha game from just preferring one genre than the other is kinda unfair Newtype seiji made a real good video about this topic that I'm mostly rehashing some of his thoughts
@@serco258 I agree so many indie mecha games play so well and although personally I have not played most of them I watch this guy calle splattercatgaming also on YT play quite a few mecha games distinctly different from SMC or AC or even Mech Warrior, gundam breakers and even gundam vs and they were amazingly varied but clearly not for everyone. I saw one that's classic turn based tactical rpg with grids and one where it's like a semi-real time thing where on your turn you set actions and then over the course of a few seconds the actions play out but you have to adjust for the actions the enemy AI will do as it plays like a video editor where someone can press play on the video segment being edited and stuff will move and then they can pause to issue more actions with heat and ammo management involved acting as movement and atk AP per mech and it was unique. There's also mech building games on steam and the likes sadly the full potential of mecha genre has not been explored yet.

its called the Stellaris. You didnt hear it from me tho
Thank you for this video! It's very informative.
This was a really cool video and an excellent resource for a wannabe mecha game dev such as myself. Thanks for sharing!

Ngl I would like to see Mecha Break collab with Iron Saga. Iron Saga's mech design fits a lot with Mecha Break but that's just my opinion
The concept art for pantzer kinda has the same body type as tempest from super mecha champions

If daemon x machina mechanics worked, I'd say it's my favorite mecha game so far
Someone send this to asmon
the concept art looked way better, its like they are trying to look like a cheap mobile game.
