Today was by far one of my favorite recaps. I love the story of the adulterous woman, and how Jesus was the only one worthy to cast a stone but instead chose forgiveness! the rest of the group self sabotaged themselves when they one-by-one left and proved that no one is perfect but The One - Jesus, The Light if the World, Amen!
I may not have been adulterous, yet I deserve so many stones to be thrown at me, Jesus has forgiven all. I enjoy coming to Jesus daily to keep my heart committed to Him in His forgiveness and His loving grace.
@@micpoll7 He loves us so deeply, He is ready to take away our sins, burdens, pains, as long as we are willing to make Him Lord over our lives, He is truly where the Joy is😊
I so much appreciate TLC’s exhortation to “Hang on! The Light is coming!” Yes, “Let there be Light!” dispels the darkness and the evil and tragedy and misfortune. Jesus brings His Light to the woman of John 8, giving mercy and instructing her to “sin no more”; “walk in the Light, because I AM the Light of the world.” His Light orders things for us now, illuminating our confusion and mistakes and mistrust of Who God is. But when we know “the Light is coming,” we know we’ll stand before Him, with our loved ones, irradiating His very Light, the Light that orders all things, makes sense of the unanswered questions (“Why God? Why didn’t You stop that from happening?”). There is joy today, being assured that the Light we see now awaits us and restores us to the unity we long for.
Jesus was so in line with the Holy Spirit and God's will and timing. When His brothers told Him to show himself to the world (John 7:4), He responded, "The right time for me has not yet come" (John 7:6). The concept of his time not yet coming is repeated in these chapters. Just like Jesus, I want to be so in step with the Holy Spirit and the Father that I am moving exactly in the Father's timing and not mine. I pray this for me and my family. Another verse that stood out to me was John 7:24, "Stop judging by mere appearances, and make a right judgment." I thought of our upcoming presidential election and prayed this for our nation. 🙏🏽
At the Festival’s conclusion that commemorates Moses brining water from the rock, Jesus declares at Jn 7:37-38 that “I am the Living Water,” just as He did with the Samaritan woman at the well in Jn 4. And He gives this living water in the form of life-giving mercy to the woman in Jn 8. He could have condemned her, but He shows her mercy and says, “Go and sin no more.” That’s what He tells me: “Drink from me, live a godly life, and sin no more. Live in My mercy.”
This is some serious debate! It's heated! Jesus was not playing. He spoke the truth and these puny humans had no idea how powerful and deep cutting His words were. I NEVER want to hear God's voice say these things to me. How DREADFUL, to be judged by The Father and found wanting. LORD, Jesus save me from my sin, wash me in Your blood and accept me into Your Kingdom. There's NO PLACE I'd rather be than in Your presence. In Your presence is fullness of joy and at Your right hand pleasures forevermore Amen
This is a powerful and eye opening lesson about Jesus who from the beginning before sin entered God’s perfect world is I am. As God is creating the world Jesus is well aware that He indeed will be the source of light and salvation for mankind. Thank you Heavenly Father for sending Jesus to give us hope and His light so that we can live with hope. 🙏🏼
Aloha, praise the Lord and Good morning BR family. I love starting my day with our BR and especially with TL. God reminds us not to judge. 6:24, “Do not Judge by appearance, but judge with righteous judgment .” “You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one “. That’s our God and he is where the JOY is!!!❤
I love studying the Jewish feasts too because at this one, there is a giant menorah with light and at the last day of the feast when Jesus says he who believes in me out of him will come streams of living water, there was actually a ceremony where they drew out water. It is really cool to study the feasts and take in even more meaning to his sayings. 😇
John 8:47, "Whoever belongs to God hears what God says." I sometimes second guess what I hear from God and make it more complicated than it needs to be. I can trust that I hear what He says because I belong to Him.
That's a beautiful thought, TLC, that Jesus' entrance into the dark fallen world was spoken into being when The Father said, "Let there be light." Some could say that Your though is supported by the Scripture that says Jesus' salvation was established before the foundations of the world, while otjers could argue that Your thought supports the idea that Jesus was created by The Father's declaration. I belive thers more evidence of the former than the latter, though. Thanks for sharing that wonderful thought.
Jer 17:13 refers to writing in the dust. Many believe He was writing the accusers' names. He started with the oldest first and they fell away first. Fascinating! O Lord, the hope of Israel, All who forsake You will be put to shame. THOSE WHO TURN AWAY ON EARTH WILL BE WRITTEN DOWN, (caps mine) Because they have forsaken the fountain of living water, even the Lord.
Jesus Christ, the light of the world. I love your last statement about Jesus being the light of the world. Truly when God commanded in genesis chapter 1vs3 that "Let there be light" that's Jesus Christ. The Lamb the was slain from the foundation of the world. Jesus Christ... the lamb of God
I take comfort in God's provision of salvation and eternal life through King Jesus. Whew. We certainly are in dark times. But, praise the Lord! Light is coming!
Jesus is the light of the world. He died for our sins. I want to belong to God so I will continue to follow him. He is where the joy is. Thank you TLC and TBR. 🙌🏽🙌🏽
“They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!”” John 8:7 NLT This was my Godshot, seeing the unique and beautiful way that Jesus teaches. In this story, he highlights that every single one of us falls short of Jesus’s perfection and how we have no right to punish or judge someone for their sin because we are all sinners. But I also love is how versatile and complex this teaching is, in the story Jesus teaches humility, accountability, and forgiveness and compassion, these people were willing to stone a woman to death for a sin, and yet they have all sinned themselves. We are so lucky that we have such a wise and compassionate God to not only teach us and guide us through this life, but also grant us freedom from our sins, I pray today that I can remain humble and compassionate throughout my days to live by his teachings and have Jesus live through me. God bless y’all today.✝️🤝
Let there be Light! ❤ P.S. I’m not sure you would want that “vacation” package because along with it would come all the sacrifices and killing of animals. I’m thankful for living in this time 😊
Wow! That was a lot of heated conversation between the Pharisees and Jesus. They took offense at the truth. I often do this. When we are offended we can do very terrible things. It starts with hatred in our hearts. I read a book “Unoffendable” it has helped me understand why it is not good to be offended. Forgiveness is key!! The sooner, the better!!
It’s Good Friday 2024 as I listen to this and Tara-Leigh’s comment about Genesis 1:3 being a possible prophecy of Jesus as The Light really messed with me; in the best possible way! Thank you.
The world doesn’t hate itself. It hates Jesus. Don’t be surprised when many feel that way towards you Jesus is till trying to stay low key while going to the feast. Jesus teaches and His authority and understanding amazes the people The leaders try to trick Him. They bring the woman caught in adultery. Jesus stoops down to write in the dirt. Possibly writing out the sins of the leaders. Possibly also to not look upon the woman who is probably naked, giving her dignity. Jesus is the only one worthy to stone the woman but He uses His power to bless and not to curse. He forgives and tells her to leave her life of sin. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” They said to him therefore, “Where is your Father?” Jesus answered, “You know neither me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also.” and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and I am here. I came not of my own accord, but he sent me. You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:7, 10-12, 19, 32, 34-36, 42, 44
I’m still surprised that the Pharisees were self-aware enough to not consider themselves without fault and walked away. 😅 they seem like the sort who would’ve thought they are without sin and stoned her. So whatever He wrote might have dissuaded them. Excellent teaching series!
