Built this with up to 2. stage weight reduction, body rigidity (drops pp) and full race transmission and still got it under 600 with all the power and no ballast. You can do better with the gearing - the power is all in the last quarter of RPM with this turbo kit. Make the first gear go 110..130 (km/h) and split the others into nice narrow slices - always on power. It probably matters less than expected, as this thing is spinning wheels still at 250 km/h. It is so fun to drive, it even handles ok - only thing to take care of is throttle.
Hey Mark, I added a couple more details to my comment if you're interested. Just hit 226 mph. If I corner perfectly, on the 2nd half of the track's first couple curves can go through full throttle, a couple towards the end of that stretch just have to release the throttle without braking. Nice find with this car, thanks! A reasonable alternative to the Silvia for this race!
@@DarkMatterEclipse Many thanks pleased it's working for you. I always consider my tunes as a chassis set up and people can modify them from that to their own preferences 👌
I just stumbled across this car/ swap a week ago. It's insane, really fun and effective way for this race 😎 pulled a 2:08 for my fastest lap. Used to use the BRZ LS7 swapped S13. But the GRNM 86 is a lot easier to handle and is way better on gas.
Gee, this car is quick. It is great at Tokyo, but I tuned it for 700pp at Le Mans. I was seeing 320 km/h on Mulsanne, and yet is incredibly economical. I was easily getting 8 laps in a race. I had to use mediums for one stint; the softs chew quickly. Great tune, Mark.
@@KCR-Mark I just want to reinforce my opinion that the medium tyres may be the way to go. When I used the softs they rapidly deteriorated, and I went off the track in the Porsche esses just before pitting, but still managed to do 8 laps easily. I think the overall race time for using softs for 3, and mediums for 5 (yes, I think I managed that!) is the way to go, for a safer and more consistent run.
Also makes a superb car for Le Mans, despite falling short of 700pp. I left everything as default apart from the gears that I set 370. Tops out at just under 220mp on Mulsainne straight and took the lead before the hairpin on lap 1. Fuel map 1 does 3.5 laps so if put it on 2 or 3 you’d probably get 4 laps. Medium tyres will do 4 laps. Laps the track in just 3 mins 59 seconds. I’m interested to see what it does with your suspension settings 👍🏻
@@KCR-Mark corners like it’s on rails with your suspension settings. Set my gears to 380. Car does approx 220mph on Mulsainne straight. Lap 1 was in 3rd place by the 2nd chicane, 3 seconds in the lead by the hairpin, and 10 seconds lead by the end of the lap. Lap 1 time of 3 mins 54 seconds. Medium racing tyres, rears are toast at the end of lap 3 so will be better with hard tyres. Downforce in default and brake balance set at -2. It takes some stopping. Braking points are at 300 for the Mulsainne straight chicanes, and 200 for the hairpin, right flick before Indianapolis and the Porsche curves. My car has every upgrade available and runs the high rpm turbocharger. Comes in at just under 670pp.
Odd, matched all your settings and was just over the PP limit. I put the big wing on was still over until I maxxed it. Another odd thing was the car weight was a bit less than yours with no weight reduction. I changed the suspension settings which are really close to the racing suspension default still fully lowered and found the car handles corners better. I went back added full racing tranny, 3 stages of weight reduction which actually lowered the PP, brake controller for shits n giggles set at 0, carbon drive shaft which did nothing to PP....got best lap time of 2:03.6 and top speed of 224 mph with no slipstreaming. I lowered front downforce to 66. Added 11 kg of ballast at +50, carbon drive shaft then had effect on PP so had to be removed and seemed tires were squealing/spinning a bit less during acceleration/gear shifts and balanced front/rear weight a bit. AT still completes race with no refueling even before the weight reduction. The '88 Silvia is still king of this race, had lap times just under 2 mins. I don't put the high end rear diffuser so can have full racing brakes...there is almost no difference in performance. My suspension tuning is better or me as the car high speed corners better. I don't get why everyone on youtube insists on suspension tunings that makes the Silvia corner so crappy. Careful throttling on gears shifts is a must too. Ballast the car to balance front/rear weight 50/50 or at least 53/47 for best results. Ballast is to balance the weight, not reduce PP and it's according to if the car is FR, MR, RR or 4WD. Of course there's individual driving techniques to factor in.
