  • I should have added, the white tape on the side for custom sight marks is car pin striping tape. I buy it by the roll so i replace it when needed or when i have new marks.
    Also when attaching the sight bar to the extension, it should be attached so that when the sight aperture is at its lowest, it is still not touching the arrow. Mine is a good example of the aperture at the lowest setting and a finger width above the arrow.

    As a beginner to recurve I honestly believe your vids are the most informative by far, thank you for posting Mr Hill, you make it so easy to understand the setup stages.

      I agree....especially from a technical perspective. I used his videos to setup and tune my first recurve. All just made sense to me.

    Spectacular! My Shibuya Dual Click online manual just says align the elevation bar with the bow string. Period. I remembered seeing you mount the sight backward but I'm sure glad I came back and reviewed using the actual sight pin! A real machine shop level of procedure. Thanks!

    You finished the video with a call for questions. I came here with questions (NEVER heard any of these set-up tips) and ended up with answers! : )
    I'll give this a try on my bow later today.

    You can mount the vertical sight bar at different heights on the extension. If you need to move the sight down to reach your distance and you still have enough clearance, you can remove the two screws that attach the extension to the bar and move them to the next holes down. I rarely do this, but I moved my bar up because it was so cose to the top of the bar with my sight/riser combo. If you're using the scale on the sight to set your elevation, it should be easy to add/subtract the same number to your setting (everything up 1 cm, for instance, if the screw holes are 1 cm apart.) Thanks for the useful video.

    Narration is a bit twitchy, and the impact hammering in the audio is distracting, but the info is top notch.

    Thank you for sharing! I have been recreational shooting a recurve but only can hit my target 50% of the time at 20 yards so I use a compound for hunting for the accuracy. I would love to hunt with a recurve but I don't have the knowledge or consistent accuracy that I would take a shot on an animal for fear of just wounding it. Hoping to get a sight like this to aid with this. Thanks for sharing!

    • @ChrisHillOlympicRecurveArchery
      @ChrisHillOlympicRecurveArchery  Год назад +1

      your arrows are probably not spined for your poundage and release if the sight is that far off. Tuning only works if the arrows are ballpark spined correctly.

    • @ChrisHillOlympicRecurveArchery
      @ChrisHillOlympicRecurveArchery  Год назад +1

      i have 29 inch draw, 42# at clicker and shoot a 500 spine. A 400 spine would be around 50-52# draw weight. I shot 54# at 380 spine. At 48# i shot 450 spine. Your arrows are stiff for your poundage and draw as a general rule.

    Chris. Like Like your videos. I know they are a ton of work, and very appreciated. My question...aligning the sight aperture to the string and arrow means that the string is in m y line of sight when aiming. Is this what I want? Thanks. Don

    • @ChrisHillOlympicRecurveArchery
      @ChrisHillOlympicRecurveArchery  6 лет назад

      The string should not cover the aperture. Your head position may not be good. If you are anchoring slight to the side of your face, the string shouldn't be in front of your eye. Once you are anchored, if string is covering aperture, move head so that string moves slight toward riser. I have anchored dead center and in front of my face and my string blur was to the outside of aperture. I never had it cover the aperture. It sounds like your draw alignment may also be off if you are anchoring on the side of face. Currently my string blur is edge of riser window.

    Great vid. Need your help. After the anchor, if my sight is slightly below the target, how do I raise the bow to align it? Do I lift the bow with my arms or tilt from my waist? Or do I adjust the sight position although it has almost reached its lowest point...thanks

    • @ChrisHillOlympicRecurveArchery
      @ChrisHillOlympicRecurveArchery  4 года назад +2

      Hi, If you draw and anchor and your bow arm is low and the sight is below the yellow, then you need to relearn the draw setup and start with your bow arm higher, begin your draw and stop the bow arm when the sight is just above the yellow. then finish the draw, anchor and your sight should be in the yellow. You dont want to push up to get the sight back into the middle. And changing the aperture location wont help. Start bow arm higher, and then keep sight slightly above yellow until anchor. Then at anchor sight will drift down onto the X.

    When im determining the placement of the arrow under the sight pin and found out that my arrow is slightly to the outside, do i adjust my sight or do i adjust my plunger?

    • @ChrisHillOlympicRecurveArchery
      @ChrisHillOlympicRecurveArchery  6 лет назад

      for initial sight setup, you would move the aperture not the arrow or plunger. This is assuming you have already done initial bow setup with limb alignment and centershot.
