Small selection, a handful of my favorites here, displaying the warmth (and sometimes coldness...) of the 8080/8000 pads. Why the video is darker towards the end? I shot the video in daylight and suddenly clouds were gathering; the sky darkened.
It depends on the waveform. The saw has this Goa Trance aliasing. The rest are warm and well rounded. But the synth has a tendency for that high range noisy his. Still, it has very good low ends.
I got mine from ebay years ago. Seems like there's no one selling there for a reasonable price currently though. There is a facebook group for the 8080/8000 where people often sell modules for fair prices.
I got mine from classified ads for 1050€ incl. a memory card 2 years ago. There is currently one on reverb for 1349€ plus shipping and import taxes from Japan - which usually means it's like new, as Japanese tech nerds are so meticulously thorough in handling and maintaining their gear. So it's well worth the hassle with customs.
Softsynths all have this cold hard digital feel if you ask me. I really almost cant enjoy any new music that uses a lot of plugins and soft synths. Sounds trash to me unless msybe roland cloud.
You should try making a lfo on pitch modulation pluck lead heard in tracks like Dash berlin-going it alone Dash berlin-better half of me Dash berlin-when the world falls apart
The JP8080 is a good sounding synth, no doubt. However, if you count in its price on the 2nd hand market, you better buy a Novation Peak. It simply surpasses the JP on every level. Just sayin'
The 8080 has become a collectors item for sure and as such the price has gone up. The supernova was also a great synth but I haven't heard the peak yet.
I considered the Peak ... but I'm not really into menu diving. The JP8080 is a no-brainer - even when you return to it after a break of 4 weeks, you can instantly get some weird and amazing sounds out of it. So "surpassing it on every level"? Not in terms of usability and user-friendliness. Which is the main reason why I sold some gear again, I just couldn't get my head around it and was tired of consulting the manual for every single setting. The JP8080 on the other hand is a keeper.

Airwave... OMG!!! Automatic Goosebumps.
Well to be honests all of them.
Quite an era ! The sounds are incredible. It sweats the late 90's, and what a good smell!
Excellent performance!
Nicely put!
Goosebumps, because of these classic sounds ❤
Fantastisch 🎉
Feels warm yet cold at the same time. The JP-8000 VA engine is great!

Scooter forever !!!!!!
Wow this sounded great! 👍
Man the JP’s sound beautiful. Nice demo
adagio for strings....right there in the beginning! You got my sub for that! I do videos too! This is a great demo of this classic roland!
Thanks! You have some nice gear yourself!
Wooooowww!! 😍😍😍😍

Better late than never, let's look forward to 2025 together.
Nice demo! Mind if I ask where you got your module? I am currently searching all over and can't seem to find one for over $2000

Have an immaculate one for $1550 plus shipping.
jp 8000 supersaw still has not been faithfully recreated in softsynths yet. Close. But not yet.
Agreed

Are you sure these are different presets? They all sounding the same..

Good idea. Dash Berlin has so many geat songs.
what is interesting is although named differently, at the core they are all the same sounds.
Yeah they are all supersaw with slight differences. But that is also what was used in these songs.

Considering it was over $2000 usd in 1999 I’d say it’s a bargain now since the sound has not been truly duplicated by any other hardware or vst yet.
