This man's situation really got to me. I was thinking they were to fix his house. I'm kinda disappointed. But maybe that house is a total loss because of the hurricane. What happened to his mother? It is good he has his own space now. You can tell he has been very tramatized. 😢🙏

As old as the original home was, soaking it in 6' of water probably rotted the wood base of the house quickly. Looked as though there was a great deal of damage. Probably a much bigger job than George usually takes on, it it was even reparable. Not all offspring would welcome a parent(s) living onsite, or willing to sacrifice space in their home for a separate apartment. Guessing it's at this point Dad's realizing he'll probably never live in his old home again.

I'd love to see what his crew could do with the his grandparents' old home. With all the creativity he has at his services. and there would so much demolishing and rebuilding he'd be in demolition heaven lol. He always does a great job and gets just the right people for each place. It's always nice to see how well they work together and how if they argue it isn't for long or they are able to clip it out anf show that everyone still comes together. wondering though has there ever been someone that wasn't happy with it? even if they pretended to be at the time for the show. I've seen some of the other shows that he revisits some of his favorites and they are still so excited/happy and appreciative for it all. I'd love to see what he could do with mine. But I have no funds of any types and the whole house is pressed /clapboard and no insolation etc the whole house should actually be demolished but don't have anywhere else to go. lol It looks like a shed compared to all these homes. but it is mine, Thanks for all you do.

I would suspect that the family home was too far gone for either George (or George's budget) to do, and the best solution would probably be to demolish the house and/or sell the land.

That house is a complete knock down. That would involve building a new home from the ground up. No show has an unlimited budget and doing so would possibly keep them from helping others.

It’s the daughters house. Dads house was destroyed and his daughter made him move in. They wanted him to have his own privacy and space so that’s why they converted the basement into a 1 bedroom apt.
@@b_uppy - It wasn't his house, it was his mother's house, so her grandmother's house that got destroyed and I think it's beyond 'fixing'. Regardless of it being an ancestral home or not, it may be damaged beyond repair and may need tearing down. George To The Rescue does renovations/improvements for people in particular circumstances, they can't just build entire houses for people down on their luck. That said, there are other organizations that do that type of thing such as Habitat for Humanity.

For me, determining the temperament of people who are 100% not their natural selves on camera, is a tough call. Who would be totally relaxed on camera if that isn't their job and could their discomfort with that be what you are seeing and hearing in their tone?
They are a young couple who care about him and have taken him in but they are entitled to their own life too - I think they care but are being honest - please don't judge unless you're walking in other people's shoes - they are supporting him to get his life back on track which her father needs to and I think would like to do also.
I know that showers are "economical" both water/space-wise, but does everyone want just a shower? Seriously, I want both, preferably together. I am medically supposed to soak my legs daily, more likely to do it every 3 days or so, and shower every day, but I like the option to bathe when I want, or when I'm sore, swollen, or in pain.
