I thought Viktor would have found other herders and worked for them to rebuild, but he got the extra help for the same result. If they had to go it alone, weather would have probably killed them. Even loners with any sense know that people need each other.

So sorry that happened. I’ve been seeing a lot of people put a towel down on the ground and uncover it so their puppy can go bathroom. I’ve also see people put tarps on their cars overnight to make the snow removal easier. What if we were to try using a tarp to keep patches of areas available for them to eat from. Sounds like a lot, but it would lessen the loss. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Give them food?oh No, you want the reindeer to be fed with processed animal foods is that what you mean? THEY are animals that eat fresh moss. If the herders start to feed them with other food, then they'll become a house reindeer .
I have so many questions. What became of the dead reindeer? Did they leave the bodies out there and move? They have the reindeer to live on, it's not like the meat would have gone bad after they skinned and parted it. They are not far enough north for polar bears. What became of the little reindeer that survived. We see they took the dogs with them, but did not see the reindeer. What do other humans do when one dies in their family/group. Do they somehow bury the body or burn it?
In this kind of weather and environment, most of the time when animals died they just allow nature to take them . They might just cover them with snow . If you knew that even in the Mt. Everest, when someone passed, they couldn't do anything . It's either you continue the journey or all of you will perish.

He found God via the film crew. After all we are all God's, creation, put here to help each other rather it's a kind word or deed or yes even a little money. All it took was one person willing to help and that person told others and others helped and those others told others who helped and the next thing you know this family is surviving and thriving. Able to feed and raise their children in the way of their people.

several years ago this happened when many yamal peninsula nomads lost their reindeer. viktor was one of them. unfortunately the entire big film was not finished.

Funny how so many in the comments think god intervened when he found that film crew but don’t blame god for causing the weather conditions that wiped out this man’s herd in the first place.

there is no other food for reindeer in tundra unfortunately (exept fish but only in places with rivers)
