The oldest book I own is Geman hymn book printed in 1866 . When I purchased it , inside was a death certificate of a gentleman born in March 1835 , died in 1874 . The signing on the inside is Quill Inked in German . This was an heirloom for some family as I think the death certificate was handed down & placed in this book .

They have many thousands of books, but I can give them a run for the title (no pun intended), having two houses and their garages packed with important nonfiction that ripens to become classical rather than dated. And it's not for sale, my daughter will also make good use of it.

I've been here a handful of times, it's great! They also have like a "vault" type room and a bunch of little artist shops and artwork upstairs. One potential downside is that they don't have AC (but plenty of fans) so keep that in mind before venturing inside during a heatwave! It's also a short walk away from Clifton's Cafeteria...yum.

I’m just wondering if they have any of the books that were stolen from the Pittsburgh area rare book collection. Some are worth tens of thousands of dollars and the person that was in charge of looking out for them is the one who stole them as sold them to a book dealer in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania who then in turn sold them to others. Just to be clear I’m not accusing anyone I’m just asking a question, if I owned that bookstore I would want to know is it possible I have anything in my possession that was stolen.

He was not unusual in this. In order to maintain his cover as a typical second-hand book seller, he used every means short of actual physical violence to prevent customers from making a purchase. Unpleasant damp smells, glowering looks, erratic opening hours - he was incredibly good at it.”

Also in Europe you will find rare bookshops which exceed the prices of this shop easily (not that I am able to afford these books, but I wanted to set things right. I use to be a regular there until the tourists took over. Instagram crowded this place, so I can’t enjoy it the way I use to.

For me this book shop is heaven personified. Why can't Australian book stores, if there's any left, cater for the intellectual reader. Is it any wonder we go online to buy our books. Australian book shops only cater for the commercial off the street reader. But for those like me who seek intellectual literature well where just not chance or choice than to do our book shopping online, l wish it wasn't so.
