Listening to this dude too much is a recipe for depression. It's like he didn't know how to talk about nothing else except negative, destructive shit. Even when he tried to get drippy or make love songs it always came back to him being a murderer in the lyrics, bc everything else was a facade, which sociopaths are good at putting on. But now I'm a teacher and doctoral candidate, and you know what happened to him. Also, growing up around guns and drugs doesn't make you anti-social and insanely violent by default. Durk, J Mane, Cash, a few of those other drill artists had fathers who were high-ranking BDs or GDs, and they got into street shit, but didn't end up psychopathic like he did. We're not just mindless clay formed by our environment, we have agency about what we become using elements from that environment. He seems to have picked and magnified the worst ones, which is why his raps are so soulless and depressingly nihilistic. In my (pretty good) opinion.

Von was one of a kind, its rare for a rapper to actually live what he raps. It's a sad reality but Von was everything he said he was. Too bad his career ended so abruptly and tragically. Who knows how far he would've went with his music.😢
