Don't bother with CIBC, I've had terrible service on multiple occasions and are often hard to get in touch with. The points up-front help keep you interested in the short-term, but the annual fees aren't worth it in the long-run.
Glad to see you are back. I'm kinda new in the credit card churning thing and I was wondering when do you usually cancel your credit cards if you're not keeping it? Do the credit card issuers don't care if you cancel as long as you met the minimum spend on them? Do you cancel/downgrade right after getting the sign-up bonus? Thank you and happy new year!!
Hey Bianca, I would usually wait 3-6 months to cancel. You don’t want to close too quickly because that would be an immediate red flag to the bank. It’s a marathon not a sprint, so it’s best to go slow and steady :)

How do you apply points to bookings? Do you mean if I book a flight through Google flights or expedia, I can use my aventura points after the fact to my booking to get money off?

This card is only good for the nexus rebate and 4 airport lounge visits.
Other than that, your money does not go far with Aventura points for flights.
Example: Vancouver to Tokyo economy is 90k+ Aventura points whereas with Aeroplan, the same flight is 35k Aeroplan points. you can go business class to Tokyo for as little as 55k Aeroplan points which is 35k less points than economy with Aventura.

Hey I am flying in couple days. I am unable to sign up for visa companion air although when I check with cibc and their website their it days I have 4 lounge access but in visa companion give me an error says that my card might not eligible. No one to contact literally
