Have you ever wondered what happens when these two forces of nature combine? No? Oh.
Sidenote: I'm not interested in a live action remake of this film that was rumored a few years ago. In general, I think it looks odd when anime films are remade with real people like Netflix's Cowboy Bebop. I think the original film is perfect as it is, but I would be curious to see a AAA animation company like Disney remake Akira because it could look pretty cool. You don't really see adult-oriented, high-quality 3D animation.
Sidenote 2: This was at the upper end of my ability, but it's worth noting that I only worked on it for 1.5 months. Imagine what a team of talented people could create.

are you rendering Houdini sims in cycles?

Thanks! There are two different ways I render in this video. The motor cycle explosion is a houdini pyro sim imported and rendered in cycles as a vdb. When Tetsuo is pulling off the red fabric, the background wall of smoke was rendered with Karma in Houdini and then I imported the smoke as an image plane. The tank blast is also an image plane from Houdini.
