I think the film's themes about hard work and accomplishments are something several viewers tend to overlook, not to mention Wonka's character. People see Wonka as this gross capitalistic monster but in reality, he made sure whoever gets the factory would get all the revenue made from the golden ticket event. He may be snide but he is also a generous person.
