    Can I just say that the reactors who put in the extra effort to set the mood for horror movies are so fuckin cool. You can't watch horror in front of blaring lights in the middle of the day between episodes of The Office and get the intended effect, so it's always a treat when content creators go the extra mile. You guys kick ass. Keep up the awesome reactions!

    It's strange how there's quite a few comments under these videos telling tou guys how to watch the show. I've seen others react, and they've had a similar style of reaction to you and the comments usually give more grace as to people's interpretation and the way they watch the show. Don’t consider this a horror show/ghost story. It is a love story/family drama that is set in the context of ghost story. It really isn’t that scary, minus a few of the jump scares. I would focus more on the story than the scares, if that makes sense.

    • @TheSoldier0fortunE
      @TheSoldier0fortunE 2 месяца назад

      This is very true, but some people react differently than others to scary stuff and atmosphere. When i watched this with my ex for the first time she was in pieces and couldnt sleep that night whereas i barely jumped at the scary scenes. Its different for everyone, sadly for these two they seem to be more like my ex lol

    • @TVChild3
      @TVChild3 2 месяца назад +5

      @@Redsdelight I mean it’s definitely a horror show as well as a family drama, but a horror show that has a point other than scaring you. I think that’s why they can’t seem to focus on the story so far ; they’re so obsessed with the possibility of being scared that they tense up in scenes that aren’t even remotely made to be scary. Once they get in the groove of the show and realize it’s not about the scares, they’ll start to appreciate how good the story is.

    Guys, consider this: the scary parts aren't just trying to be scary. Pay attention: They are all in some way an emotional beat of the developing plot. They aren't just entities. Consider them as symbolic references to how the characters are feeling, how they are coping. They are "hauntings" of sadness, guilt, shame, longing, etc, all connected to the character who is experiencing it.

      @wildoranges 2 месяца назад +6

      that's simply not true cause you can't judge how other people experience it. for some people - myself included - the spooky haunting type of story is simply always scary.
      l cannot relax for a second cause the entire tone of the show - the colour grading, ominous long pauses, the ghost design - set me on edge. Sometimes a camera pan is just a camera pan and sometimes it's a scary moment and because I can never predict which it'll be I'm on edge prepared for the worst at all times. Many people's anxiety really gets triggered by this type of ever-present ominous undertone.
      I cannot watch stuff with ghosts and hauntings without being close to an anxiety attack (hence i'm watching the show through reaction channels). Meanwhile I watch Annihilation as a comfort movie and other people find moments in that movie scary. It just depends on what triggers your fear responses or feeds your anxiety, and that's a personal thing.

      We don't have a lot of time where their schedules align so we focus on the time they do have together to do shows and when they have some separate free time we sneak em in to watch solo movies.
      Finding time for double movies is a challenge.

      @@DiegesisFair enough. If I may also ask, what made you change from essay videos to reaction? I personally think that it's a good change, but I'm still curious

    Not sure if y'all are going to do any other horror series, but if this is a bit much for you the Fall of the House of Usher isn't quite as scary (since the stories are based on the works of Edgar Allen Poe, they've been around the block a few times. So-much-so that you'll probably recognize like 2/3 of them from Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episodes). It's still masterfully done, just not quite as nerve-wracking as other series like Bly Manor and Midnight Mass.

      because we've turned the lights down a lot.
      it's ugly cause the green screen struggles under low light but i want them to be able to see the very low key show.
      the black and white brings back the detail in their faces.

    As a European, open casket is so damn weird to me. I would never wanna see a loved one dead.

    24:48 This is why I hate Shirley. It was so important to Luke that he make it to his twin sister's wedding, to show her he loved her and supported her, that he showed up perfectly on time a week into a drug bender. And not only does Shirley unilaterally kick him out, but she doesn't tell anyone that he showed up. She lets Nell and the entire family think that he was just a worthless junkie who skipped her wedding entirely, when the only reason he wasn't there was because of Shirley.

      Keep in mind this was only the second episode we watched. We hadn’t realized or had been given enough from the show quite yet to see or know where the story telling was going. By episode 6 I cried the whole way through.

      Yeah it’s almost like they’re seeing it for the first time and only on episode 2 here 😱 and it’s almost like you’ve probably seen the whole thing and understand the whole story behind the scenes now. Odd how the entire context changes! How would they know?
