These are awesome videos. I’m just a handyman but I do a lot of these installs. I never knew those chain pliers existed and ordered some immediately (you should set up an Amazon store and make a few bucks too). I love that you pointed out the hot neutral on the decorative wire because I’ve seen and heard so many people say how it doesn’t matter because the light will work anyway. I’m not licensed but I try to follow every code and devour all the info - I really appreciate pros who share their knowledge. Thank you.

Thanks for the compliment Steve. I really appreciate you watching. I'm hoping to get a thousand subscribers before the end of the year to monetize my channel and add links to Amazon as a means of support. As it stands right now I don't believe I can do that. I'm still in the growing faze.

Thank you! Thank you! Your video is the ONLY video that explained how to identify the hot/nuture fixture wires. Let me see if I can save on Lowes $127 Installation and follow your GREAT step by step instructions to install my Allen + Roth 6 light Chandelier (model #KYH0106AX-01). Thank you for your helpful tips. 🙂

Hey buddy, how's it going? i want to say that you are a top notch tradesman, and that is something i appreciate very much. I love these videos. I this this is an amazing way to inspire new and seasoned electricians to be proud of their work and set themselves aside from the competition! I just had one thing to add to this, and i hope it adds to the value of this particular install. I'm the beginning, when cutting the excess wire lengths, you mentioned the possibility of a customer wanting the fix your lowered after the move in, and so you would leave an extra 10 in of wire and I agree. One thing to keep in mind when doing that is that the customer will also need those links or a future resident could also need those links to bring the fixture down another six inches and so would I like to do is to leave about 6 or 8 in of the chain link leftovers inside the canopy of the light below the wire connections in the box. Hope that helps. Love what you're doing. Keep being awesome!

Thanks for watching and commenting. I loved your idea of leaving some extra chain links in the light's canopy cover.

That chain tool seems like a time saver! I just use 2 screw drivers but that tool is nice.

Very well explained. Only four things I do different are use UL listed heat shrink rather than tape to identify neutral, use Wago 221 lever nuts to allow easier testing including fault testing in future prove ground continuity. Do electrical safety tests (continuity insulation resistance, loop impedance). The fourth or should I say the first thing I do as it’s a class I luminaire I will do a bunch of electrical device safety testing. That requires specialist tools and testing equipment it weeds out defective and unsafe devices which are common for many light devices which are poorly manufactured or maybe not even UL listed and bought from the internet. It addresses some of the other annoying issues such as premature AFCI or even GFCI false trips when it’s the device that’s defective or worse still unsafe.

Math Man 👍 I would agree with the testing you do. We know some of these China light fixtures are not to UL standards 😥. I would love to see USA made products come back!

This is the light I have , Needing to shorten it , already took all the links off the chain . Can you remove the rod and cut it shorter ?

Hey Steve, sounds like you need a ceiling hugger type of light fixture. I wouldn't recommend alterations on a listed and labeled light fixture. Sounds like it would be quicker to just swap the old fixture out.

Thank you so much for sharing this the most important part that I learned was how to tell a hot wire versus neutral I just bought a chandelier and I did not know because both lines were clear. I did subscribe however it's unfortunate it does not give me the option to like but I did like it very much and will continue to follow you thanks again And oh by the way my chandelier is hung light's on. No Arc 👍

I hope you don't mind me asking but I did my qst install of old workbox in the ceiling and it's not snug. The wings are expanded and holding but screws are not tightening leaving a gap. Any suggestions ?

    • @workingmanrondoyle3287

@@user-xe7ng5ri8o I'm sorry to hear this. I've had the same problems with them. Sometimes the swing ears on the boxes gets hung up. (Stuck) It's not the best design and could use some needed inprovement. Start by loosening all 3 of the screws. Pull the round box down. You can leave the wire in for this. Hold one of the swing ears and use a screw or impact gun to run the screw in and out a couple times until it becomes easier as they are not pre-tapped. Do this to each screw and swing ear. Then reinstall box. I hope this helps you.

It's me again I hope you don't mind I keep questioning on same post but I'm not exactly phone savvy.
Anyhow.. same lite issue old workbox was such a simple fix.. I just had to use my drill vs me trying to use Lil hand screw. Anyhow... failure to light. My office has 2 ceiling lites. One works other doesn't.
Ok now there are 3 switches on same plate. 1st one lines test 120V but other 2 only read 18
Any suggestions why only 1 of 3 are rec power from breaker?

Thanks for watching and commenting. As in ceiling, 🤔 I believe your referring to adding a round old work box and fishing a wire in a ceiling location?
I planned on doing a video on that, when the opportunity pops up. Thanks for suggesting a video topic ❤️

I didn't know name. And one idea was to push wire coat hanger up thru.. I didn't think wire coat hangers still exists 🤔. But I think an empty wrapping paper tube should work after all its 42" long.
      I'll find out tomorrow
