@@SoccerWithMaratI'm a literal obscene guitar prodigy and I do the opposite.... I just tried to play as fast as I can with all my fingers when playing flamenco, and it works. But you have to practice. I literally play so fast that I don't share because I don't want to be famous. And in soccer,.....you should know your passing options.... and know your dribbling space.... before an incoming pass hits your foot. This lets you one touch to a teammate, and it lets you deflect a pass to your dribbling space , so you can move before a press hits you. Your video has loud inspirational music, and you sound very authoritative..... But playing slow won't get you beyond Sunday league. Busquets mostly plays slow, but he can one touch and tiki taka with the best in the world. He plays slow to force opposition to chase. And when he has to one touch, he does. Because he trains both fast and slow.
“calm” is probably a better word, but essentially start slow. Look at the golden age Barça players like Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Busquets, it amazed me how calm they are
Calm is a better word indeed. You need to know when to slow the tempo of the game down but that ironically can require you to be very quick. Part of why pros are able to do that is because if they do quickly get pressured, they are quick enough to get out of trouble with their foot skills. What I think Marat is really trying to tell us is to understand soccer is played at different tempos. When we get a fast pass under pressure we are tempted to force a pass, there’s a lot of monkey see monkey do. Sometimes you have to learn to slow down the game but other times you have speed it up. In pro soccer like EPL or La Liga, they don’t always play fast because they are saving their energy and trying to take more time to let the play develop. But when they do play fast, they are really, really fast.
Learning to scan effectively when you don't have the ball is a game-changer, transforming your entire approach to the sport. The moment you develop this crucial skill, you'll notice a profound shift in your on-field performance. You'll find yourself becoming more composed and calmer when you have the ball, as the act of scanning constantly feeds your mind with information about your surroundings and potential options. This constant awareness eliminates the anxiety of the unknown, preventing you from panicking in pressure situations. You'll anticipate the next move, knowing where your teammates are positioned and identifying potential passing lanes or areas to exploit. This newfound confidence will allow you to make quicker and more decisive decisions, leading to more effective playmaking and a greater sense of control over the game. The ability to scan constantly while off the ball doesn't just benefit your individual play; it elevates the entire team's performance. You'll be able to communicate crucial information to your teammates, highlighting open spaces, anticipating opponent movements, and contributing to a more fluid and cohesive flow of the game. In essence, learning to scan when you don't have the ball elevates your game to a new level, making you a more confident, agile, and effective player.
@@calebyeboah5567 there are training drills for scanning and also when playing a game during training just keep looking around where your team mates are as much as u can with out the ball and ones u revive the ball u know where they are and where ur opponents are.

So true, I recently recovered from an ankle injury and I am not running as much or playing as fast as before. However, I find myself playing better overall than even before my injury.
@@SoccerWithMarat yess totally! I have a second or two more, and I find myself looking up more. This helps with better decision making. I often play slowly, all the time when I'm playing with friends, often in training and in matches, more rarely because my coach is often on my back and often yells at me to play faster. I'm a winger, I consider myself to have very good technique and passing quality + a good finish (but I can rarely use it in matches), the problem being that I'm not very physical, not very tough and not very fast, so I've always had to play more slowly while knowing when to explode and dribble. But as I said, my coach doesn't necessarily like that, and what's more, he doesn't like me very much (I often have to be excellent, or have other players injured or suspended in order to play a full match), so for a while I had to force myself to play fast in passing, leaving aside my feints and dribbles which allowed me to play more slowly to deliver good passes, being not very fast, it was a very good idea when I can't run on my side and I can send a ball to the strikers. With time, I've become less stressed in matches and, having proved myself, the other players let me play as I like, because they know what I can contribute. At the moment I'm in between the two, so at times I'm able to play free, dribble, play slowly or quickly and send very good balls, and at other times my stress returns and my physique doesn't always follow what my coach asks of me (e.g. pressing a lot on several players at the same time, which isn't possible), so all this is to thank you, I haven't tried your program yet, and in fact I already knew these things, but seeing them synthesized helps me to put these ideas into place more easily, and this program will help me enormously to finally be fully regular and be able to show my true level, which will help me for this end of season and the trials for the next one.

What I’ve noticed is the difference when I’m playing competitive vs when I’m playing in a drop in. Even if there are more skilled players in the drop ins i manage to perform better than everyone else just because I’m focusing more on having fun and winning. When I’m in a competitive environment, its annoying because my teammates aren’t doing the right things, not moving right, i have to cover for them, then the pressure of being observed.
A few weeks ago in April a group of our churches (parishes) had a seriously competitive 5 a side indoor football (soccer) tournament (between 60-70 players total). The competition was fierce and there were some great players (mostly from the hood) over here in South Africa 🇿🇦. But there was one player, early twenties, who stood out head and shoulders above all. It was honestly like a video game the way he played. The most distinguishing feature he had, which surprised me the most because it went against everything I knew at that point: he had a noticeably SLOWER pace of play AND slower dribble than everybody else! I’m not saying he played slow, no, but His speed of dribbling and 1v1’s were honestly like medium speed, like slower than how I a social amateur play and dribble 1v1. Yet he was so much more effective and effortless. He played for our parish youth team, 20-29 years. I was for the seniors: 30 and over. I soon found out from my priest he was prospected in Ireland for professional teams, but unfortunately he was soon afflicted with some health problem which caused him to quit his football ambitions. He had a beautifully well balanced style of play, something like Ronaldinho or Adriano (because of his size), never off balance. Sacrificing speed for balance. Which I guess is why nobody could get the ball off him. To his advantage he is fairly tall (like 1.85cm), powerful, and well built (of like West African descent) but he never used that really. He just weaved through players so effortlessly without fumbling, all because he was the only player during that entire tournament who was talented enough to understand that playing your fastest all the time leads to more fumbles and poor decisions. And I’m not saying he was a slow guy, no! But he just played intentionally, instead of reactively. I will never forget it. It was a blessing to witness such raw and TRUE talent. I took advantage of every game he played just to learn. I actually remember saying to myself, I would probably pay to watch this guy play. That’s when I realized why the crème de la crème (cream of the crop) footballers get paid so much, even though i find it ridiculous. But It’s a special thing witnessing rare God given athletic talent, and who wouldn’t pay to experience it. You never realise how well, and differently, these rare talents play until you literally see them in real life play alongside the average guy like the majority of us, including the situations they manage to get themselves out of. You get good, sometimes even seriously good, average guys. But these type guys are just made for it. It all just clicks so naturally for them. I can only imagine what it must be like watching or even playing with the top guys (championship team guys) in real life. Edit: Grrreat video, btw.
You talk about composure...you dont need to be slow with decicions to be better..its opposite...but composue is very important aspect of being footballer
Coaching my college's soccer club team. I just decided this week to start making my players carry water jugs while scrimmaging at practice for exactly this reason. Slow it down and play with deliberate purpose
That will DEFINITELY make them play slower 😂😂👏👏 But this is EXACTLY my point! There are times you have to play that fast 1 touch, but if you can train to play more deliberately, you’ll play exceptionally better
this is really really true that’s happen on my situation, when I hurt my leg I can’t sprint , but I still can running slowly, I don’t know why I performed better in the match in this situation😂😂
Slowing down is more like focusing on football your skill set not your coach your family your dreams etc. Dont let your emotions overwhelm you and you gotta always have a smile on your face and keep playing no matter what. Remember when your on the pitch its just You that makes that change You want the goal and You make the assist you want. Only you can make yourself the best
i thought the only reason why i played better when i played slower was because my ball control wasnt good enough for me to go fast but this makes so much more sense
This is all positional and situational. Not always fast and not always slow. Everything in football is about decision making. The best players know when to play quick and when to slow it down.
I’d like to add that when you do play slower, your touches are supposed to be more deliberate and with a bit of confidence behind it. I found that when I perform skills like stepovers, defenders tend to overcommit when I really sell that initial slower, but deliberate, feint; going faster makes it much harder to perform with full technique. Again, as the others said, there’s a time and place for playing at different speeds.
Just a thing People doesn't play faster They just panic Slower isn't a thing, panicking is a thing Good video and nice observation but just don't panic Not a rocket science
This is true. I have been playing soccer for 3years and was paying attention at other players to see how they play so I can copy it and get better. Most people try to play fast and one day I play with an older guy in his early 50’s. He was slow, but he would be betting 2 to 3 defenders back to back and then pass the ball or shot. At first I thought that he had some great magic skills that took years to develop. However, a few months passed and I played with a different team that also had another older guy and too was slow but was able to beat defenders easy. That’s when I started to realize that maybe is just them playing slow lets them have time to think and slow down the defenders giving you ability to see their body movements. I started to play slow and it has been working for me.
I love it! But note that you do need to make decisions fast, so by working on that pattern recognition, you will be able to make those decisions fast, feel less flustered, and play more slowly!
Hello, I applied to join in the form for your football training course, I hope I get accepted, I always watch your videos and I'm subscribed. I'm very motivated to go pro, I practice daily and I feel I just need guidance and the right training to make my dream come true, thank you❤
1. Playing Fast will make you not know what to do or play the wrong way 2. There are 7 advantages of playing slower: • Controlled Movement • Lose unnecessary Pressure on yourself • Change in quality • Control Game Pace • Greater Tactical Vision • Increased Confidence • Accuracy and Energy Management
Thanks for giving me those drill suggestions! I was able to do them for about 60 minutes at my local pitch yesterday! But if you know anything about the climate here in the UK it’s always raining!!! But today I have the semifinals for the league playoffs and I’m super nervous. Anyway have a great day you baller!
Sometimes you HAVE to play fast though! But you need to be more aware of what's happening, and most times, that takes slowing your mind down a little to see what all is happening
Tf are you talking about, busquets is not playing slow, he just seems slow because he is smooth. Count the time he takes between each decision and touch with a stopwatch and see for yourself - he is extremely quick. He is under pressure usually well under a second after receiving the ball and has to make a snap decision and evasive action to get into free space. Then he has all the time in the world to play slow, but most players won’t have the luxury of that space so playing slow “like busquets” is not a very good advice.
That’s not what “slow” means for most people. Slow means “moving or operating only at a low speed; not quick or fast.“ or “not rushed, taking its time to unfold or progress without haste or urgency”. But there is always a sense of urgency when you play proper football so why not say “don’t rush your play unnecessarily” instead? I guess it wont be clickbaity enough.
@@prs314yeah the title is very misleading but at the same time when playing football it isnt all the time that you play with a sense of urgency. There are sometimes where you relax on the ball. But i agree with your orginial point that busquets plays fast, hes just very relaxed
You are completly right. This guy has no idea. The biggest shock you will face in higher levels are the actions per minute players do and the little time you have to think. This guy is straight up wrong.
Marat I know I already asked this but are you still working on the forms from the other video about training alone because I still have not received anything about it and I thought that I was one of the first people to do it. I just want to make sure this isn't a problem on my end.

Hahaha this videos made specifically for that reason, but don't worry man, we've all been there and I want to show people that it doesn't have to always be that way
We lost in the semis 2-1 The field was caked bruv! Our kits were covered in mud after the match. But I won’t let one loss get the best of me time to keep training👏👏👏
all of that talk. my advice is "dont care or dont think too much, just do your thing and always have fun and keep it simple" once you think.. you are doomed. ofcourse that will only matter if you can back it up and have the skills to play good. it dont have to be great just be effective and consistent. play it slow, play it fast it dont matter because whatever works for you consistently thats what you use to play the game. not everybody can play fast. not everybody can play slow either.
Some people are thinking that I meant to just play slow, but I really meant this, and to make decisions fast so that you can have that additional time if needed to play with more control

Man that was fun to read, and I completely agree, that’s so cool!
Agreed, great read indeed.
i have always played soccer slowly guess that why i always made thw right decision
perfectly said, and thank you
You talk about composure...you dont need to be slow with decicions to be better..its opposite...but composue is very important aspect of being footballer
Coaching my college's soccer club team. I just decided this week to start making my players carry water jugs while scrimmaging at practice for exactly this reason. Slow it down and play with deliberate purpose
That will DEFINITELY make them play slower 😂😂👏👏
But this is EXACTLY my point! There are times you have to play that fast 1 touch, but if you can train to play more deliberately, you’ll play exceptionally better
Thank you for this video! This is literally the exact problem I am trying to solve!
You are welcome!
this is really really true that’s happen on my situation, when I hurt my leg I can’t sprint , but I still can running slowly, I don’t know why I performed better in the match in this situation😂😂
Hahaha that’s awesome
Slowing down is more like focusing on football your skill set not your coach your family your dreams etc.
Dont let your emotions overwhelm you and you gotta always have a smile on your face and keep playing no matter what. Remember when your on the pitch its just You that makes that change You want the goal and You make the assist you want. Only you can make yourself the best
been following a while never disappointed in ur vids
That means a lot homie 🙏
a gem
i thought the only reason why i played better when i played slower was because my ball control wasnt good enough for me to go fast but this makes so much more sense
You're on the road to CRUSH it
@@SoccerWithMarat thank you
This is all positional and situational.
That's why la Liga's players are intelligent and la Liga as the best midfielders
Just a thing
People doesn't play faster
They just panic
Slower isn't a thing, panicking is a thing
Good video and nice observation but just don't panic
Not a rocket science
Thanks for the video , I just want to ask if I should also train slower or should I still train with full intensity
Old military adage: 'Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.'
Mind you, the key is _deliberate action._ Decisiveness remains absolutely crucial.
First rule: THINK, all the time.
Second rule: playing faster does not mean playing in a hurry.
Hello, I applied to join in the form for your football training course, I hope I get accepted, I always watch your videos and I'm subscribed. I'm very motivated to go pro, I practice daily and I feel I just need guidance and the right training to make my dream come true, thank you❤
You don't get accepted he just gives you a training program
being gooid at football isnt about playing fast its about making the right decision. most the time in football you will be playing slowly
He gets it 👏
1. Playing Fast will make you not know what to do or play the wrong way
2. There are 7 advantages of playing slower:
• Controlled Movement
• Lose unnecessary Pressure on yourself
• Change in quality
• Control Game Pace
• Greater Tactical Vision
• Increased Confidence
• Accuracy and Energy Management
What a legend
Thanks for giving me those drill suggestions! I was able to do them for about 60 minutes at my local pitch yesterday! But if you know anything about the climate here in the UK it’s always raining!!! But today I have the semifinals for the league playoffs and I’m super nervous. Anyway have a great day you baller!
Let me know how it goes! I really want to go to the UK, and catch a couple games
Well did you win your game?
Nah we lost 2-1😭😭😭 but I scored my teams only goal.
This is exactly what Lamine Yamal, Messi , Neymar and some of the very best do.
always play slow that way u dont have to get tired quick. but never aim to be pro, aim to be maybe sunday league.
Thanks for this video! I totally get nervous when I get the ball, due in part to my beginner level dribbling.
You got it!
And that's how I realised why I did very bad recently, I was trying to play too fast
Sometimes you HAVE to play fast though! But you need to be more aware of what's happening, and most times, that takes slowing your mind down a little to see what all is happening
It’s called being composed zero pressure take things nice and easy you would do better this is more effective for midfielders
love the music and the content
If you play slower you need to have crazy ability, in good leagues players close you down fast. And your team mates need to be in good spaces.
Too true. This actually worked for me
So glad it did 🙏
Other prime examples of this style of play include - Ozil, Pirlo, Zidane and Berbatov.
Bro just gave the cheat codes 🔥
You already know 🤌
“Sergio biscuits”
Tf are you talking about, busquets is not playing slow, he just seems slow because he is smooth. Count the time he takes between each decision and touch with a stopwatch and see for yourself - he is extremely quick. He is under pressure usually well under a second after receiving the ball and has to make a snap decision and evasive action to get into free space. Then he has all the time in the world to play slow, but most players won’t have the luxury of that space so playing slow “like busquets” is not a very good advice.
By slow he means not being rushed and being composed and relaxed
You have to start slowly and build momentum gradually. So, start slowly
You are completly right. This guy has no idea. The biggest shock you will face in higher levels are the actions per minute players do and the little time you have to think. This guy is straight up wrong.
Bro I needed this after bad match yesterday
Im glad I could help!! Pick yourself up though, we all have bad matches, but when we can learn from it, those moments are where we get better
Wake up boys, soccer with marat dropped a new vid!
LET’S GOOOOOO
Marat I know I already asked this but are you still working on the forms from the other video about training alone because I still have not received anything about it and I thought that I was one of the first people to do it. I just want to make sure this isn't a problem on my end.
hey bro i just had the worst match of my life and got subbed out in the second half and im also starting to forget how i used to play and scoring goals could you give me tips on how to get better again and im also panicking when receiving the ball and scared to take on players based on the outcome of it
Truth, look at pirlo
Right??
I think this video will help me out because I am a defender who panics whenever he gets the ball and clears it immediately
Hahaha this videos made specifically for that reason, but don't worry man, we've all been there and I want to show people that it doesn't have to always be that way
More that type of videos😍
Bro is that marymore? Cool that you live in washington
thanks brother for your Advice, i will definitly use it❤💪
Let’s gooooo!!
We lost in the semis 2-1 The field was caked bruv! Our kits were covered in mud after the match. But I won’t let one loss get the best of me time to keep training👏👏👏
Man it must have been a tough game, did you score??
Yeah scored 1 through ball from my CM
it only works if you have good awareness
we have the same shirt number! 48.
all of that talk. my advice is "dont care or dont think too much, just do your thing and always have fun and keep it simple" once you think.. you are doomed. ofcourse that will only matter if you can back it up and have the skills to play good. it dont have to be great just be effective and consistent. play it slow, play it fast it dont matter because whatever works for you consistently thats what you use to play the game. not everybody can play fast. not everybody can play slow either.
Not slower bro.
Calmer
Playing slower is actually really true to calm your game down guys
Some people are thinking that I meant to just play slow, but I really meant this, and to make decisions fast so that you can have that additional time if needed to play with more control
@@SoccerWithMaratso by playing slow you mean to play calm
I always attack spaces immediately with the ball on me and i cant stand my teammates yelling at me to slow down. like what?
Do Winger also play slow ?
toni kroos cheatcode
What about me I am a striker , I can't play slow everytime .
What can I do?
Do you play for bellevue athletic?
thank you so much
It’s a GAME CHANGER!
@@SoccerWithMarat you were right i used it today while training, and in a year id be crackin
Marat, Are you from KZ?
The military has a saying, “slow is smooth, smooth is fast.”
I like that saying, it makes a ton of sense!
Marat I filled out the form from the last video is there something wrong on my end because I haven't received anything yet or have you not gotten to some of them yet. Btw I play lw
Still finishing up most of those!
@@SoccerWithMarat okay thanks and I love your videos I have been subscribed since the first vid
Thank you for helping us out Bruv! But I have a question who is your favorite player? Mine is Phil Foden.
I LOVE watching Phil Foden, he’s such a technical player with true grit, but as of favourite player at this current moment, it would be a few 😭
Hey you told me to do passes in air from a wall
I can do it with my right leg while feeling a bit Brazilian but my left leg isn't that good rn
This video is also very helpful your content is underrated :D
I remember you!! Try to get to 5 wall passes in a row in the air before my next video! You have 1 week my friend 🫡
@@SoccerWithMarat as you say!
Hey man love your channel how old are you?
Bro is on a adventure through the forest
I go hiking with my dog multiple times a week to get both of us some easy cardio 😂
wdym by play slower like just stay calmer and take your time to make a decision?
Hello! I have a question! I want to be a footballer, at the moment I'm not in a team, but I train 3 times a week with the ball for 1 hour each training... And the rest of the days I go to Gym and I do cardio and fitness for soccer.
How about, will it help me progress and to be good to join a team?
Do you know if there are any teams around you?
Yes, it's a local team. At the moment, that's where I want to go. Will the training plan help me to have chances to join ?The team is of average level
disagree about the passing point, better to make the right pass than trying to force the hero pass
