I just wanted to remind everyone that you should wash your hair the way it works for you. Some need to wash their hair every day, some night wash it once a month, but as long as it’s healthy and thriving, that’s all that matters. So don’t judge someone by the timeline of their wash days just because it doesn’t work for you. For example, with really curly hair, some, even me, can go a good three weeks without wash day. While others might have to wash every other day or every day or smt like that. But again, as long as your hair is healthy do what you’re supposed to do, and don’t judge anyone just because it doesn’t work for you or you’re not used to it
(I'm white just fyi!) With someone who has naturally curly hair, I font wash my hair everyday. Infact I wash it every other day. Just bc of the frizziness and all the wavy-ness. Plus it keeps my hair healthy that way:)

As a South Indian (a tropical kinda place), I can't even think of not washing my hair everyday. We don't "wash hair" specifically. We do it while bathing/showering. That's how we do it. I shower twice a day. So my hair is being washed twice a day. Plus, we use hair oils. And we live in equatorial region. Plus, i work out and sweat a lot. So nope. As a black woman hearing people that aren't of color washing there hair everyday is crazy I wash my hair at the most once a month I find it interesting how different hair types take care of their hair
Same! I'm a black latina, and washing my hair everyday would damage it beyond repair. Once a month is the most I can do, otherwise my hair would dry up and fall off in chunks whenever its brushed because my scalp doesn't produce enough oils so I actually have to add the oils manually or it'll be confused with a bird's nest.
It depends on the hair type right? Even amongst black people there is variety. I have to wash mine every 3 days. A week would be absolutely terrible for mine. Thats why a black person (Andre Walker) came up with the hair type chart we commonly use (3a, 3b, 4c, etc)!
@@thezu9250 yeah it does depend on texture once you get into the 4's your hair is supposed to hold more oil to stay more healthy which is why I wash my hair every month which is also why it's good for black woman to have protective styles to hold the oil and to help hair growth

@Xavier__narleo_daily try using colder water to reduce breakage and dryness. And put oils and hair masks in 1-2 times a week and your hair type may just need to be washed every 2-3 days
Hey remember it’s based on your hair type! You aren’t gross for washing your hair every other day or a few times a week or whatever, it’s all based on your hair!! I don’t wash every day, I usually wash at least every other day and at most (usually a depression spike when I physically do not have the energy) once a week. She is not saying YOU are gross for not washing your hair daily, she’s relating HER experience!
if u have an oily scalp you should never wash your hair less than once per week otherwise your hair follicles at the root will get clogged and your hair will literally get pushed out from your scalp and fall out, avoid oiling your scalp, you really dont need to, if you want to tho use grapesseed oil, or aloe vera gel, and use a clarifying shampoo as often or as not often a syou like, sulphates are also not the enemy and neither are silicones, infact it is the other way round, avoid "natural" or "gentle" shampoos coz tehy just dont clean the scalp AND IF YOU NEED TO WASH YOUR HAIR EVERY DAY THEN GO AHEAD, ITS NOT BAD IF YOUR HAIR AND SCLAP CAN HANDLE IT
I thought I was the only one, like, the mental work up to getting in the shower always seems like way too much effort and I can easily lose motivation, but once I'm in there Im fine lol.
When i was at my lowest I used to go weeks( I dont even know how many!!) Without showering or washing.. it was gross, idk how I lived like that. I got better and I wish all of you the same
REMEMBER, this is not for everyone! If I don't wash my hair every other day, I'll slowly get dandruff because my scalp is so oily. Know your hair before making any decision.
I have the exact opposite case, as a kid I never shampooed my hair because I was too lazy and it was fine but after puberty got a little smelly so I started shampooing and after that I started having really bad dandruff, I tried to get rid of it by shampooing more frequently using head&shoulders (because that's what commercials have led me to believe) but in the end, i realized my dandruff was due to my scalp being dry from the shampoo so now I only do conditioner wash
I experimented with my hair last Christmas break like I would not wash my hair for like three straight days or four then I noticed how insane my build ups were on my scalp. It was all itchy and whenever I comb my hair there would be white flakes coming along with its teeth. Not to mention, I had a few scratches due to its itchiness. I switched back to washing my hair everyday again before my scalp begins to look like a wounded mat.
this happened to me when i didnt wash for days.. my dandruff were huge 😭 and i got inflammation and red itchiness just overall terrible scalpne. many people can't understand that i need to wash my hair everyday fr
tbh I used to wash my hair once a week. people bullied me into washing it everyday and now I’m shifting back into 2x a week. I hate when people say shit about not washing your hair everyday being disgusting. just because you do it doesn’t mean others have to. I’m overweight and I hate it more than bodyshaming.
Yeah people suck sometimes. But you know what? You do you- because if that’s what works for your hair, then you shouldn’t ever feel pressured into changing it because someone else doesn’t like it. But I know people can be cruel and it’s hard to just ignore them sometimes. But I only wash my hair every 3+ weeks now- and have for over 15 years. If I try washing it anymore than that, my hair gets incredibly dry and breaks. My hair is really thick and healthy and past my butt, so I must be doing something right lol:)
I mean they bullied you because they could tell. It’s not like you were telling everyone that you only washed once a week. Quite frankly it is disgusting to see and smell peoples greasy hair and sit near people who’s head snows every time they scratch it. Wash your damn hair.
same my friends think im discusting for only washing my hair once every two weeks, like I'm sorry I have curly hair and I don't have the time to wash and style my hair for 5 hours. and my hair doesn't get oily so its fine
Be careful ! Even the specialists don't agree to each other because it depends on the case. If you wash too much it can lead to over stimulation so the hair gets more oily BUT if you don't wash your scalp can be irritated leading to a hairloss.
I got three weeks between washes - I have curly hair which is naturally dry . Takes a good 7 days just for my hair oils just to kick in . I did this after I was diagnosed with alopecia Areta ( cause washing caused alot of fall out ) now I see lots of hair growth .
Right. It is always best to ask your hairdresser first, they know (most of the time) what is best for your hair type. If they tell you there's no problem washing it every day so be it
I used to have short hair and never had flakes even if I don't wash them but I started getting them after growing them out. Honestly, I don't want to cut them bc it's so pretty but I might if it continues
I also have dandrufft and it makes such a big difference wich shampoo you use!! I used a new one but it made my scalp so dry and gave me even more dandrufft.. I now use the one I used before and it’s much much better now. Do what works for u :))
At the beginning of the pandemic i unintentionally started washing my hair less and less until i was washing my hair every 5-8 days. My hair wouldn’t start looking oily until around the 5th day. For some reason at the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year my parents told me I had wash my hair everyday except Saturday and I had no choice. Now my hair gets really oily just after about 18 hours after I wash it and it pisses me off sm 💀💀
yup if you have really oilly hair try washing it less because (correct me if I'm wrong) if you wash it everyday your washing the nature oils which makes your body produce more
same. my hair used to get a bit oily only at 5th day and I used to washed my hair every Saturday. but I started using a anti dandruff shampoo (prescribed by doctor) he told me to wash hair twice a week. eversince, my hair gets limp, oily and greasy the very next day😭 then I started thrice a week. its bad😭😭
I used to be sooooooo lazy. I trained my hair before I even knew what hair training was. I didn't wash for so long until my mom made me. Now I wash my hair twice every week and my hair is quite healthy and thick❤
I normally wash my hair 2 times a week. Sometimes I’ll wish it 1 time, or 3 times, it just depends on how much time I have and obviously how much I think my hair needs washed. I have very thick, wavy hair, so I don’t need to wash it a lot. If I don’t wash it for more then a week, it gets flat and greasy at the top, but that’s just me! My friend with slightly thick, straight hair washes her hair almost every day, my cousin with really thick, curly hair washes her hair 1 or 2 times every 2 weeks. Hair is hair! Do what your hair needs, nobody else knows what your hair needs better then you.
Do you have any tips for people that have greasy hair. I do every other day but I still need dry shampoo because it’s greasy. Btw I love your content 💕
try washing it even less like once ever 3 days then work it up to like once a week washing your hair more often can make it produce more oil but just know that this does take time but keep up the good work for a couple of months and it should help
I wash my hair every 3-4 days because the oils in your hair actually help keep it healthy and not dry out. I barely get split ends or dry, flat hair since I started.
yesss i shower (wash my body only) everyday and wash my hair every 3-4 days too ! it makes my hair look way way better than when i used to wash it everyday

I always find it interesting to hear about people who don’t wash their hair everyday cause with the weather of where I live, hair definitely gets oily a lot more easily but also all the sweating would make it impossible for me to endure not washing my hair everyday

Hey. You technically can't "train" your hair. It could be that your scalp isn't super oily naturally or maybe it's a bit on the drier side. Before I dyed my hair, it got oily after like 5 days. But after I dyed it, I could go two weeks without washing it and it wouldn't look very oily. Things that dry out your scalp or using certain products allow you to do that. Also, for a lot of people that stop washing their hair everyday, that's not necessarily training your hair. That's just you letting it live out naturally (not sure if that's a good choice of words) and finding out how oily/dry/healthy your scalp really is.
@@jessicus Hey. im just repeating my version of what she said in the video. my roots/scalp is oily and the rest of my hair is dry. i use a wooden bristled brush to transfer the oils down my hair, and it keeps it pretty okay looking. but thanks for explaining stuff i already know 👍
Why’s everything autistic related these days (note I also have autism,) I’m kinda scared of showers tbh cause half a year ago I got out of the shower one day and my whole vision turned white and my arms felt as if they fell asleep and my ears were ringing- In short I felt like I was gonna pass out. So that wasn’t a pleasant experience
Started taking showers everyday recently, even with color treated hair. Honestly it makes me feel calmer in a more stressful environment! That's for me personally though!
It was normal to only wash your once a week, or even less often. Ladies would go to the hairdresser for a wash and set. I had long hair when I was younger. Washed my hair once a week and leave it out to dry.

i'm black and natural afro textured hair is naturally dry, so most of us look forward to the natural oils making it's way down our hair shaft those two weeks (on average) between wash days.
Glad this worked for u Wendy! Just fyi… you can’t actually train you’re hair, your scalp will always produce the same amount of oils based upon your genetics.
Yeah, the hair training thing just isn’t real and actually leaving all your scalp oils and dirt there is pretty detrimental to the health of your hair and scalp, you could get dandruff or some sort of dermatitis
My hair can’t even last throughout the day without getting all itchy and oily and I hate it so much. I have thin straight hair so it makes the mess more obvious. What sucks even more is if I don’t wash my hair the next day I literally wake up with a face full of breakouts 😭😭
I heard that if you have a thin hair your hair stick to ur sculp and that makes ur hair getting oily quickly . That is why curly hair doesn't wash their hairs because of their hair doesn't touch the sculp that much. Maybe you can try voluming ur hair so it won't stick to ur sculp that much
@@yinyang6169 my hair do be flat, I recently started using this heated hair volumizer that looks like a straightener to puff my hair up more and it did keep my hair from getting oily so quickly but I don’t wanna rely on heat to do that since it’s damaging. Other ways to keep my hair up my hair just flattens in like an hour which sucks and dry shampoo makes it worse. I do suppose it’s the type of shampoo I use as well “Head & Shoulders” brand the one I got is supposed to add volume but it doesn’t. I have straight hair and it would be full of oil within 24 hours. As straight hair tends to be fine it more easily coates the hair. Your hormone levels can be the reason your experiencing oily hair and skin. I decided to come off the pill and the amount of oil on my hair has reduced. Also the scalp is skin so when it’s dry it’s produces more oil. Moisturisers or oils for the scalp can help. If you need to wash your hair everyday try using some scalp products at night before bed. You may find that the oiliness will start to reduce.
I wash my hair around every 5-8 days and most ppl think that’s gross. I trained my hair and it worked so I think ppl should follow a routine that suits them

I have bleached hair and generally if I don't wash my hair every day, I get greasy roots and dry ends, in addition to the fact that it gets very tangled because I have thin hair, the most I can endure is one day without washing it but I understand that each hair is different and all have special requirements depending on many factors. I recommend that you go to your trusted hairdresser and evaluate your needs before making any wrong step or use the incorrect products 💕

As an African American person I can guarantee you we can go months without washing our hair and still have healthy hair literally I haven’t washed my hair since February besides Monday
As someone who is fully African with 4C this is a wildly popular misconception that our community at large needs to unlearn. We benefit from washing our hair often just like any other hair type, our hair is more hydrated, and we experience better hair growth due to having a clean scalp and unclogged follicles. Our hair won’t be as greasy as someone with straight hair going a long time without washing but that doesn’t mean it’s healthy… healthy hair = hydrated hair and hydrated hair only comes with frequent hydration

Ik a lot of people recommend you wash your hair often, but it all depends on your hair, and in some cases, the products you use. I used to wash my dry, short, 4c hair every week, but that resulted in drier, problematic hair. Eventually, I tried washing every 2 weeks with a new type of shampoo for my hair type and it made a BIG difference. So just find what works best for you
My parents ever since I could remember gave me baths every other day which made me shower every other day. So many tell me it’s disgusting to wash it every other cause of all the oils but the oils (even some bad ones) are good to have in your hair for more than a day. I also have basketball every Tuesday and Thursday so that helps too. 😊
I watch my hair once a week. I have normal kind of hair. If I wash it twice or thrice a week, it gets somewhat dry and then I need to deal with loads of hairfall. If I skip washing, I can pass for like another week without washing but then it starts getting a little oily. By the end of the third week, I would want to wash my hair.
I have to wash 1-2 times a day. Especially after I work or workout. I don't like my sweat in my hair/scalp. Also don't like germs from hospital patients coughing and whatever particles the toilet shoots out when I help them to the bathroom clinging to my hair and then my pillow. Yuck.
I have always washed my hair one day a week as I have curly hair that should not be washed every day too much water can actually fry out hair so I only wash it on like a Sunday and then sometimes if I put too much hairspray in my hair for ballet I’ll condition my hair and brush it out. My hair can only be brushed wet so Sundays is when my hair is immaculate!
GOOD TIPS FOR OILY HAIR FOLKS: I managed a beauty supply for a while and talked to a lot of cosmetologists about this, people with oily hair need to try shampooing their hair twice in one shower because once is not enough to fight the build up. Condition midshafts to ends and then when the hair is mostly dry use a scalp oil to moisturize. A scalp oil? Yes a scalp oil. For the same reason you would use a moisturizer, or lotion right after the shower- without remoisturizing the skin of the scalp after a shower with an oil that will sink in (I like hemp or jojoba oil), the skin knows it’s dry and pushes sebum production into overdrive. My customers followed these tips and immediately saw a difference in the oil production in their hair.
double shampoo if you still have build up or hai still smell bad is very good advice, also if your point smell good but your scalp has still built up you can do the second shampoo on the scalp only. but the conditioner serves to make the ph of your hair ok after the shampoo changed to in order to wash. so you should put it on all of yor hair. if you don't like how your scalp feels afterwards try rinse more or change product. but to be fair when I had itchy scalp promems I actually solved by applying oil to it; it solved both itchyness and dandruff for me
It's funny how as kids we where made fun of for only washing our hair once a week (used tank water and had 4 siblings with long ass hair, we had no choice) And now I get to be thankful that I never needed to train it...having bleached hair definitely helps tho, now I can push it to 2 weeks
Idk how scalp training works but when I was younger I washed my hair 2-3 times a week and now I wash it once a week. No difference in oil production, only difference in how many split ends I had. Went 5 months only using water to wash my hair (worked surprisingly well for the first 3 months) and now that I'm washing my hair again it's still once a week. Idk if maybe it only works for some people but for me I think my scalp ain't budging lol
I trained my hair and it can go a month and not smell, look or actually be dirty, I only trained it for a few weeks tho not even a month but it can last that long I literally never get greasy hair anymore! It’s actually pretty healthy cause your hair has time to grow and also has time to soak up natural oils from being killed over and over! Then when you wash it you can start it over again, I don’t wanna kill my hair by drowning it

So nope. I can't go without washing my hair (unless I'm really sick)
There's a huge difference between giving your hair a rinse in the shower and full on washing it too

I’m not a woman of color but I’m Latina & I wash I’m hair every 2 days in summer everyday because my hair & scalp produce oils like crazy!

She is not saying YOU are gross for not washing your hair daily, she’s relating HER experience!
if u have an oily scalp you should never wash your hair less than once per week otherwise your hair follicles at the root will get clogged and your hair will literally get pushed out from your scalp and fall out, avoid oiling your scalp, you really dont need to, if you want to tho use grapesseed oil, or aloe vera gel, and use a clarifying shampoo as often or as not often a syou like, sulphates are also not the enemy and neither are silicones, infact it is the other way round, avoid "natural" or "gentle" shampoos coz tehy just dont clean the scalp
AND IF YOU NEED TO WASH YOUR HAIR EVERY DAY THEN GO AHEAD, ITS NOT BAD IF YOUR HAIR AND SCLAP CAN HANDLE IT
that moment when you’ve trained your hair to be washed once every four to six days via being depressed
I thought I was the only one, like, the mental work up to getting in the shower always seems like way too much effort and I can easily lose motivation, but once I'm in there Im fine lol.

Same thing happened to me. Had to get a dandruff treatment.
tbh I used to wash my hair once a week. people bullied me into washing it everyday and now I’m shifting back into 2x a week.

Your hormone levels can be the reason your experiencing oily hair and skin. I decided to come off the pill and the amount of oil on my hair has reduced. As someone who is fully African with 4C this is a wildly popular misconception that our community at large needs to unlearn. We benefit from washing our hair often just like any other hair type, our hair is more hydrated, and we experience better hair growth due to having a clean scalp and unclogged follicles.
GOOD TIPS FOR OILY HAIR FOLKS:
I managed a beauty supply for a while and talked to a lot of cosmetologists about this, people with oily hair need to try shampooing their hair twice in one shower because once is not enough to fight the build up.
My customers followed these tips and immediately saw a difference in the oil production in their hair.
double shampoo if you still have build up or hai still smell bad is very good advice, also if your point smell good but your scalp has still built up you can do the second shampoo on the scalp only.
but the conditioner serves to make the ph of your hair ok after the shampoo changed to in order to wash. so you should put it on all of yor hair. if you don't like how your scalp feels afterwards try rinse more or change product. but to be fair when I had itchy scalp promems I actually solved by applying oil to it; it solved both itchyness and dandruff for me
I wash my hair once a week, sometimes two weeks. Legit whenever it starts feeling disgusting- I do have curly hair btw. But not like overly curly
It's funny how as kids we where made fun of for only washing our hair once a week (used tank water and had 4 siblings with long ass hair, we had no choice)
And now I get to be thankful that I never needed to train it...having bleached hair definitely helps tho, now I can push it to 2 weeks
Me who just happen to be depressed af and only being able to wash my hair once in two weeks: yeah that's achievable.
this is literally what I was thinking 😭😭 simply have a depressive episode and suddenly 13 days is possible 😍
her: it’s been 13 days!!
me: *it’s only jan 11-*
also me: **realizes she washes it on december 29th **

Dry shampoo is my life I would look homeless without it
As someone who has curly hair and grew up with a black mother I was taught to not wash your hair everyday 😂 usually every two weeks sometimes longer

Then when you wash it you can start it over again, I don’t wanna kill my hair by drowning it
Dry shampoo is bad for you. And it makes your hair even dirtier.
There shouldn’t be dirt in the shampoo…?
@@alexbennet4195 A buildup of powder can make your hair dirty and matted. Dry shampoo isn’t even real shampoo , it’s just powder and chemicals to make your hair look less greasy.
I wash my hair every other day bc if u don’t let the natural oils come out of your hair it could get damaged and my hair doesn’t get to greasy right now because it’s winter anyway usually by 8:30 on the 2nd day my hair is greasy so I washhhhhh ittttt
