The villain is not only fully established, but she frequently makes herself and her intentions known to the player. She’s like a pink stretchy Jigsaw!

I love how fluid and expressive mommy long legs is when she jumps down from the ceiling. She looks like she has more life than all the other animations. Especially the grinder animation. She basically punches the wall from anger and starts to slightly get closer to you the more they speak. In the grinder death, she starts panicking and flinging her limbs to push herself out while having half legs and one arm.
The root of almost all human fears is the fear of the unknown, and this game is great at exploiting that. The long dark hallways fill you with uncertainty if you’re going to be attacked or not. Her stretchy arms make you unsure where she’ll attack from. The chases make you unsure of how close she is and the irregular pathways for the chase make you doubt yourself and the path you wanted to take.
Can we just appreciate MLL's voice actress? Because this whole scene is pushed from 11 to 13 just from how well she captures that semi-psychotic rage in her voice.
The huggy one was definitely more stressful and intense. Lots of twists and turns that you had to get to and you couldn't even look back so you had to worry that every time you messed up he got significantly closer. For this one you can just run and not worry for the most part. It's only the part where you have to grab up that should really raise stress and concern, and it's the reason everyone died the first time further proving my point. For huggys chase you had many opportunities to mess up and you couldn't look back so you'd think you were done for every time.

Actually in one of the note found in the game, it’s said that mommy long legs limbs can each stretch almost to 700ft so for her hands to go that far is I think possible, but I believe it requires her to concentrate, hence why she couldn’t escape the grinder, it was because she was panicking

the creepiest part of all the dolls is something I noticed on Huggy, Mommy and Puggapillar, that when they are hostile and basically go into attack mode, their pupils are enlargened, and it its like staring into the cold unfeeling eyes of a shark smelling blood. that is the face of a predator on a fucking warpath

It's amazing how just simply making her fingers skinnier and dilating her pupils can make her absolutely terrifying It's the same with huggy wuggy, just adding teeth made him scary too, both show how sometimes a simple change can make a monster design scary

Mommy is a brilliant ambush hunter. Her introduction and both of these sections, she waits by something you need to interact with to advance before dropping out of nowhere to attack.
I like how Mommy Long Legs looks more dirty and a bit beaten up when she drops down. It sort of indicates how she was so stressed out and irritated while searching for us. That scream she did when falling down at us supported that too.
What I find so unsettling is the counting.. like some stood there for a second before realizing.. also just stopping at 2 just somehow is worse than completing it and having a voiceline of like "ready OR NOT here mommy comes" or whatever Also.. why is no clip of anyone grappling upwards their first time? Like that just seems unfair not to give a player a chance without already knowing or expecting to have to look upwards.. Okay at least DanTDm was close.. but like.. you have to be so precise when you are panicking, so practically guaranteed scare there.. and even the knowledge doesn't help since you have to be precise anyways..

Explaining the “why she can stretch so far” question, it said on the collectible letter at water treatment that she can stretch her limbs up to several hundred feet. So it makes sense that her hands can be there and then retract them or reposition them further ahead of the player during these chase scenes

I have a bad case of arachnophobia but Mommy surprisingly enough didn't set my fear off, yeah she creepy af but not in the same way as a actual spider is for me. It's most likely because she looked more an old toy i got from McDonald's when i was little lol she did set a fear of mine when she was dying though because I nearly had a panic attack because of it, it really scared me 😅

From what I read and understand, mommy long legs can spread her limbs hundreds of feet. But being able to find the other end of the pipeline's entrance means she has remembered every nook and cranny of the area she is present in.
When I saw the hide and seek bit with mommy long legs my heart skipped a beat when she said ten. Just that three letter word made my brain stop and go "oh sh-" for a brief moment, I wasn't even playing it. Mommy's voice actor is phenomenal. Edit: 2:50 she stretches her arms at you but never her feet which she is then able to walk on in order to continue chasing you
I'm probably the only one, but the line "I hate Cheaters" is really awkward cuz in the context of the game, it refers to cheating at games, but with the fact she's called "Mommy" hints at mom's who hate cheating husbands. I am probably the only person with that in mind Edit after readingall the responses: Guys this is meant to be a joke, well mostly, I was kinda going off experience since all of the women in my family have experienced cheating significant others! Jesus christ on a frickin pogo stick!
Note to self: never under any circumstances break into an abandoned toy factory. If you do, make sure you come prepared. Bring a .45 magnum, first aid kit, cell phone, and a hunting knife. Or simply wait in the lobby for the cops to arrive.
Actually for your information at the beginning of chapter two mommy’s toy version can stretch really far, so that means that in the game it is possible for her to stretch her arms really far, and also for the next question, I assume that she just used one hand at a time, because it did take a bit for you to get from one hand to another.

It's so interesting how only very little of them tried to jump off the stairs, or purposefully fell into the hole. So many tried to go down the stairs like it really mattered, lol.

One other legitimate criticism people have for this game that I agree with: the amount of time you're given to pull off that grapple after you emerge from the pipes is way too narrow of a window. You have maybe a second to align it, grab it, and ascend before Mommy catches up to you, and I've seen a lot of players die there. Widening the margin of error by even just one more second would probably help. The chase should be tense, but not overly unforgiving, because having to repeat it multiple times does sort of cheapen the horror of it. Then again, I'm not any sort of game design expert; I just watch a lot of Let's Plays, so what do I know? 😅
I know you posted this like a year ago, but THANK YOU, that worded my issues with the chase scenes perfectly! It's understandable that they'd want to keep the monster right behind you to raise the tension, but the blend of the 1 second margins of errors combined with the disorienting surroundings can lead to annoying results.
I physically shake watching this scene. The effort put into Mommy’s animations and her voice action is impeccable. I shift in my seat almost trying to control it myself because it scares me shitless 😂
What’s scary about it is you expected her to monologue a bit more after yelling “ We’re going to play a new game, HIDE AND SEEK”. Instead she just deadpan stares at you and begins counting down. It gives you no time to mentally prepare yourself.
I know it's just his hand getting jittery when he's scared, but I like to imagine Poiised in the characters position frantically swinging his head every which-way in abject terror screaming bloody murder while Mommy Long Legs is trying to talk. Or screaming "Help me, Jesus!" and "Mama!" as he sprints away from her with that grab pack on his back
She only has 2 hands, she can stretch them for hundreds of feet and still move around with just her legs and body so when it seems like she has multiple hands she doesn't, she just moved them while chasing you, if you turn around while she is chasing you can see that her hands are away from her.

Her voice is exactly how I thought it would be, and I love the high-pitched, deceiving, psychotic voice like that of a loving “Mrs. Spider”, or a proper Nanny, like something out of a nursery rhyme. It’s not just deep and seductive sounding like I originally predicted, like that of Alice Angel or Roxy Wolf. But that made sense because those characters are young and obsessed with their looks and being “beautiful”. This one, on the other hand, sounds like a shriveled-up, abusive mother who has been through a lot of heartbreak. Even Mama Bear from Dark Deception has more natural warmth to her voice, and sounds more “seductive” (Forgive me; I have no other way to convey this idea. This is NOT for the internet freaks to enjoy!!), like she knows exactly what she’s doing. This one sounds more desperate, and it’s a cool subversion to the trope I’ve just been seeing a lot recently. She sounds like a real mother, while still keeping that psychotic energy.

Neena is the only one that would survive a horror movie, everyone else would die. She's the only one that ran when she was supposed to, looked for shorter(and therefore faster) routes, and did not spend the majority of her running time looking back.

Explaining the “why she can stretch so far” question, it said on the collectible letter at water treatment that she can stretch her limbs up to several hundred feet. So it makes sense that her hands can be there and then retract them or reposition them further ahead of the player during these chase scenes
And also no that is unfortunately not Huggy wuggy that Dan saw it was just a blue pipe. But it would have been a really cool little Easter egg if it was him

I have a bad case of arachnophobia but Mommy surprisingly enough didn't set my fear off, yeah she creepy af but not in the same way as a actual spider is for me. It's most likely because she looked more an old toy i got from McDonald's when i was little lol she did set a fear of mine when she was dying though because I nearly had a panic attack because of it, it really scared me 😅

From what I read and understand, mommy long legs can spread her limbs hundreds of feet. But being able to find the other end of the pipeline's entrance means she has remembered every nook and cranny of the area she is present in.
When I saw the hide and seek bit with mommy long legs my heart skipped a beat when she said ten. Just that three letter word made my brain stop and go "oh sh-" for a brief moment, I wasn't even playing it. Mommy's voice actor is phenomenal.
Edit: 2:50 she stretches her arms at you but never her feet which she is then able to walk on in order to continue chasing you

I'm probably the only one, but the line "I hate Cheaters" is really awkward cuz in the context of the game, it refers to cheating at games, but with the fact she's called "Mommy" hints at mom's who hate cheating husbands. I am probably the only person with that in mind

Actually for your information at the beginning of chapter two mommy’s toy version can stretch really far, so that means that in the game it is possible for her to stretch her arms really far, and also for the next question, I assume that she just used one hand at a time, because it did take a bit for you to get from one hand to another.
Fun Fact: Mommy actually never finished counting, she stopped at 2 then when she kills you she yells 1!!

This game is such a simple concept, but how they execute the jump scares and the animated movements make it so different.
It's so interesting how only very little of them tried to jump off the stairs, or purposefully fell into the hole. So many tried to go down the stairs like it really mattered, lol.

Poiised just never grows up when most things he gets scared by is a literal owl but this caught me off guard.
I love the fact Poiised just yelled ‘ HLEP ME JESUS’ like some sort of mini prayer.
One other legitimate criticism people have for this game that I agree with: the amount of time you're given to pull off that grapple after you emerge from the pipes is way too narrow of a window. You have maybe a second to align it, grab it, and ascend before Mommy catches up to you, and I've seen a lot of players die there. Widening the margin of error by even just one more second would probably help. The chase should be tense, but not overly unforgiving, because having to repeat it multiple times does sort of cheapen the horror of it.
Then again, I'm not any sort of game design expert; I just watch a lot of Let's Plays, so what do I know? 😅
I know you posted this like a year ago, but THANK YOU, that worded my issues with the chase scenes perfectly! It's understandable that they'd want to keep the monster right behind you to raise the tension, but the blend of the 1 second margins of errors combined with the disorienting surroundings can lead to annoying results.

What’s scary about it is you expected her to monologue a bit more after yelling “ We’re going to play a new game, HIDE AND SEEK”. Instead she just deadpan stares at you and begins counting down. It gives you no time to mentally prepare yourself.

Her voice is exactly how I thought it would be, and I love the high-pitched, deceiving, psychotic voice like that of a loving “Mrs. Spider”, or a proper Nanny, like something out of a nursery rhyme. It’s not just deep and seductive sounding like I originally predicted, like that of Alice Angel or Roxy Wolf. But that made sense because those characters are young and obsessed with their looks and being “beautiful”. This one, on the other hand, sounds like a shriveled-up, abusive mother who has been through a lot of heartbreak. Even Mama Bear from Dark Deception has more natural warmth to her voice, and sounds more “seductive” (Forgive me; I have no other way to convey this idea. This is NOT for the internet freaks to enjoy!!), like she knows exactly what she’s doing. This one sounds more desperate, and it’s a cool subversion to the trope I’ve just been seeing a lot recently. She sounds like a real mother, while still keeping that psychotic energy.

The root of almost all human fears is the fear of the unknown, and this game is great at exploiting that. The long dark hallways fill you with uncertainty if you’re going to be attacked or not. Her stretchy arms make you unsure where she’ll attack from. The chases make you unsure of how close she is and the irregular pathways for the chase make you doubt yourself and the path you wanted to take.I’m not afraid of spiders, but she scares the shit out of me, just uncannily bending her stretchy body and limbs, the groaning as she chases after you. Actually deranged, nice touch with after she says “SEEK!”, her pupils become permanently enlarged like a true spiders eyes, and the slightly longer fingers are different.

Neena is the only one that would survive a horror movie, everyone else would die. She's the only one that ran when she was supposed to, looked for shorter(and therefore faster) routes, and did not spend the majority of her running time looking back.
