Just to tell you that I have been living in Indonesia since a kid, even my parent's home is literally few steps away from graveyard. Our house got open roof at the back when heading to the toilet, every single midnight all I see is 1. moon, 2. stars, 3. great looking sky.
Then there is someone from our office trying to prank us by playing a girl's crying sound but then security guard is the one hearing it while doing his routine check then someone's friend claiming they can see ghost with red dress and aggressive then guess what? I have been in that office room till midnight alone, So.... Yeah.
Most folklore in Indonesia I think is just told there for the purpose of reminding people to do things better rather than causing problems

I Indonesia is truly rich in nature, even ghosts are diverse and have their own names and levels, not only is it rich in culture, art and language, customs, 😊

There are a lot of ghost folk tales in Indonesia, basically to keep children from going out at night... and the ghosts will differ depending on the culture and conditions of the place.

FYI and some facts for you Uncle D, honestly Indonesia ghosts are more scariest than any Western ghosts including Americans ghosts. But, majority of Indonesians people are so brave and often making fun with those ghosts like a memes, pranks, trolls etc. Sometimes scary but funny too, little bit weird but that's the fact. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Most ghost stories are just made to protect and enforce unwritten rules. For example, to stop kids from going out at night alone, people make up ghost encounter stories to scare them. I don't know if it is good for the children, but it is already part of our culture anyway.

Ratu Kidul aka Nya'i Roro Kidul is very well known. And yes, wearing green is prohibited at that beach. BTW, be careful of Tuyul. You may lose your money if you encounter one 😂 Kuntilanak & Sundel Bolong tend to appear as beautiful women first. So... watch out!!! 😆

In Indonesia with its culture and magical knowledge from ancient times Which still sticks with you today, believe it or not, you have to experience the horror of ghosts in Indonesia first. What is shown here is only a depiction of the figure and not the actual figure.
If you want to feel the horror yourself, you have to come directly... do you dare to try, sir?😂
The ghost figures are very different from those abroad.
Stay healthy n keep funny sir
    ❤️🇮🇩

So far I know by logic, stories about ghosts in Indonesia are made and told by elders as teachings as humans must do good. Logically, how each ghost story depends on their respective areas in each region or main island or specific ethnic groups. Like the teachings of parents to their children who scare them if they do bad things there will be ghosts that haunt them so that their children follow what is expected in their good altitude. So those stories are mostly as folklore myths that are mystical compared to reality told passed down generation to generation to form good characters as humans. Most people in rural areas apply it compared to more modern cities, but that doesn't mean some of those kinds of ghosts don't exist, almost man or woman who have been seen by them are people with sensitive souls who can easily see mystical things. So don't worry Uncle if you want to visit Indonesia😅 even our ghosts are friendliest ghosts in the world and understand better which will do good to raise awareness of human behavior towards others😂

The scariest ever occasion although there's no credible source or proof though but however its seem legit for common reason..,at least they given us the taught not to wandering around so late on the middle of night..so when related story emerge it's basically prevent you from having mischief or facing unfortunates things out side of your unfamiliar place, this might be only a fabrication of ghosts appearance in the world of Asia society or community..but if true only one individual could see it no others people got the similar change as you're even though we are with few friends at that moment. . 🙄🤔😄😂

🤣🤣🤣🤣 if you notice, those are from central Java. They adopt a "funny" belief in Islam. Better yet, we can't call them actual Muslims cos they believe in Kejawen where Islam is adopted into their culture instead of the Islamic culture straightening out their cultural belief, hence believing in those stuff. Islam doesn't believe in wandering ghosts and spirits. They are classified as qarins and jinns trying to resemble deceased humans to shaken our belief and trust in the Almighty God. Jinns and qarins are other beings that God made from smokeless fire. and qarins do look like us as they were born when we were born and they stay with us and try to lead us astray. That's why they know so much about us and when we die they try to replace us as our ghosts. Jinns come in all forms and sizes and can look ridiculously weird.

The pronunciation of "pocong" is incorrect; the letter "C" in "pocong" is pronounced like the "C" in the name "Charlie."
And for the short name of "hantu kepala terbang" is "kuyang"
Tbh for me, as an Indonesian, those ghosts are nothing more than myths or just entertaining folklore. I don't believe in superstitions like that at all because ever since I was born until now, I have never seen any of those ghosts.
